My mom and I purchased a home built in 1984 and it still had the original tiny kitchen. We were blessed to work with Smart Interiors and what a wonderful experience this turned out to be!! Ilse Scarborough over delivered on our beautiful new kitchen, we could not be more pleased. Ilse listened to everything we needed and came up with exceptional solutions, not only is this kitchen everything we dreamed of but we were told step by step throughout the whole process what to expect and what would be done next as well as keeping the time-line. All of this superior customer service coupled with amazing craftsmanship and managed to stay on budget. I 100% recommend Smart Interiors for your Kitchen/Bath remodels you will not be disappointed! Ilse Scarborough is simply amazing to work with she manages to remove a lot of the stress related to remodeling which we all know is the biggest hurdle to overcome!! We are extremely happy with our kitchen.

This is a review of work done a year ago, but for whatever reason, Angie's List wouldn't take my review then. I hired Ilse to design a complete remodel of my 1950s kitchen. She came over several times, took exact measurements, and brought designs for me to approve. She was a joy to work with and the finished product still makes me happy today. Before, my kitchen depressed me. Now, even a year later, when I go into my kitchen, I smile. It still makes want to cook. And Ilse designed so much storage, that I still have empty drawers. Nothing is crammed into a cabinet. Everything has its place. I would recommend Ilse to anyone who is considering a remodel.

Ilse designed our new kitchen in an older home from scratch. She has a wealth of ideas and experience. She visited, measured and kept in close contact by email and phone. Being Swiss, she has that European flair for unique design.

It was $1500 for 2 months overtime. I really liked it. She did a great job. She is older so she has a ton of experience and she has a lot of good ideas if you are remodeling for aging people. I have used her in several projects.

The best part was that they were very professional. They came in at the estimate they gave me. They returned my calls quickly. The work was very good. It was very good quality work.

I was referred to Ilse Scarborough of Smart Interiors by the contractor I ultimately hired for my kitchen remodel project (this is the BEST referral I have ever received !). I met with Ilse in March 2011 at which time we discussed the idea of renovating my kitchen. She asked meaningful questions, listened to what my likes / dislikes / taste are, and discussed some general ideas of what might possibly be done. After I hired Ilse, we met many times to review the drawings and options for the project. She provided, and we met and discussed in detail, drawings of the kitchen and adjacent rooms as they relate to the kitchen area, floor plan options, a construction plan, a mechanical plan, elevations, artistic representation of the general design concept, detailed list of cabinets, and footprint drawing of countertop. Ilse was generous with her time as selections for paint colors, cabinets, backsplash, countertop, appliances, decorative lighting, etc., were made. Renovation began on July 25, 2011, and was completed on October 13, 2011. Ilse's input and assistance continued throughout the entire construction process. She has a wealth of knowledge and ideas concerning kitchen design, placement, colors, functionality construction / remodel process, and putting together a, plan to beautifully blend paint, cabinet, backsplash, countertop, and flooring colors for an eye-pleasing, beautiful, functional kitchen.

Ilse was able to present great ideas that were in keeping with my personality, lifestyle, and budget. She was always cheerful and pleasant, professional, punctual, and generous with her time. Ilse was very helpful even with the tiniest of details as well as the mid-size to large details; she regularly kept in touch and available throughout the entire evolution and completion of the project.

I will hire Ilse again when I am ready to upgrade my bathrooms. I highly recommend Ilse Scarborough for kitchen remodeling design services.

I wanted to remodel and update my galley kitchen without making any structural changes. Ilse Scarborough was hired after I met with her and discussed the job. She listened to what I wanted, asked good questions and made very practical suggestions as to best use of the small space. I especially liked her practical ideas about using more deep drawers for pots and pans and storage. When it came to choosing a material for the backsplash, she suggested using some of the same smaller tiles that we used in the tile floor pattern. This was economical as well as pleasing to the eye. I wanted a kind of rustic look to the kitchen and she took this into consideration. Hammered metal cabinet hardware was used and a number of subtle Mexican-style tiles were made part of the backsplash. Ilse guided me through the whole project and made it as painless as possible. She had the experience and management skills that I was looking for and I couldn't have been more pleased with the results.

She handles things so well and I am impressed with her. Her specialty is kitchen design. Her prices are very reasonable and she has good recommendations.
