For the washer, we decided to go with a high efficiency model that is supposed to use less water and less electricity. The only problem with less water is that if you use even a little bit too much detergent, the mixture isn't diluted enough so soap stains show up on everything, particularly darker colors. At first, I assumed that there was just a bit of a learning curve but after a while with the same problems, I called Sears to see if something was wrong. The first technician arrived at 12:45 pm even though his arrival window was supposed to be 8 am - noon. He claimed that I wasn't using enough detergent and that's why we having problems. He was very very wrong because additional detergent only intensified the problem. The second technician was also late but was a little more knowledgeable. He explained that we needed to use only a minimal amount of detergent and also use some additional settings on the washer that would increase the amount of water used. Basically, the washer had a problem but not a and quot;fixableand quot; one so there was nothing he could do. We still have problems for time to time so I don't consider the problem to be fixed but there's nothing really that I can do anymore. I understand that Sears did not manufacture the product but they did sell it to me.
