RHS was hired by our contractor as a sub to do the carpentry in our remodel. The guys rarely showed up, and any work they completed needed to be redone by someone else. Since the house is old, we are trying our best to preserve the old wood original to the house. Early on in the job, after being instructed not to do so, they cut out half a wall in the kitchen and part of the ceiling in the kitchen that was covered in old bead board. My mother and I had spent months scraping the down the bead board to make it ready for the workers, and in a day, RHS destroyed it. They also, after being instructed not to do so, shaved off the bottom of one of my pocket doors. It was a set of two doors, and because RHS measured the installation of the door frame wrong, instead of re-doing the door frame, they cut my door. Now I have a set of irreplaceable antique doors that will never match again. They didn't even know how to install a set of new french doors correctly. Nothing was square, and the doors wouldn't close properly. We had to get someone else to fix the doors. RHS told us that we didn't need a structural beam to hold up the ceiling where we had removed a wall. Turns out the ceiling began to sag, and after we fired them, our new carpenter had to install a beam there. Each day when RHS left our job site, there was a huge mess. In fact, when they installed subfloor, there was such a mess under the house, we've had to pay someone else to clean it up because I'm afraid the other workers will be injured by the amount of screws, metal, and sharp wood that was left under the house. Our contractor ended up firing RHS from our job and hiring someone else. We were relieved to know that RHS couldn't screw up anything else on our home.
