They also cleaned out all the junk in the attic of my parents house for a small extra fee.
It has been about a year since I purchased this product/service. I am happy with it, and it seems to have improved the
cooling/heating efficiency by at least 10-15%. As my utilities bills have gone down since installing these products.
And I have a much cleaner attic!
"When we first arrived at this property it was evident that this house had severe foundation settlement. We found that the majority of the exterior doors had large separation cracks between the door and jamb. We also found large gaps between the bottom of the door and the threshold. We pointed this out to the homeowner at the time and let him know that the leak seal service addressed the weatherstripping replacement only, and not modifications needed to the door units as a result of foundation settlement. The homeowner asked us to do the best we could which we did over a period of two 1/2 hours. We went above and beyond replacing weatherstripping, adjusting keepers, using felt to fill in separation gaps, and even installing door sweeps which was not included in our service. The homeowner was very happy with the results when we did our final walkthrough. I do not know why the homeowner is now giving a bad review five months after the leak seal was performed unless the separation gaps have re-appeared. Otherwise, the homeowner had our contact information all of this time. We have not heard anything from this homeowner since that time. I tried to contact the homeowner to discuss but have received no answer or call back. I believe the house has ongoing foundation settlement issues and that the doors have moved again presenting new gaps around the doors and thresholds. The leak seal service is a preventive measure only, not a remodel or renovation service to repair pre-existing constructive issues for doors/windows. This is stated clearly in the $199 Leak Seal Big Deal offer which was listed at the time and explained by myself to the homeowner at the time work was done."
He went over and above what we thought we needed and had a lot of great ideas. Based on that and the expected cost, we didn't even try to get other estimates. And they gave me an Angie's list discount too.
On the day of service, the team that came out was totally professional, arriving on time and getting done even a little earlier than was suggested. Now the doors don't leak air. We shall see how our energy bills change.
I was very impressed and would have this outfit come out again in a heartbeat if I needed services that they offer. Good price, great service, very knowledgeable. They get an A+ from me!
"We always aim to meet and exceed our customers expectations. This was an unusually tall house and a unusually tall was needed to reach. We tried to reschedule as soon as possible once we had acquired a specialty ladder. I understand that our customers time is valuable and so we waived the normal charge for the tall roof. We appreciate the feedback and will always use to improve our services."
called to redeem the deal, they were very polite and professional (I
believe that the gentleman's name was Dirk or something like that). He
made an appt to come the following week and showed up just as promised.
But it turned out that he was there to do an assessment as opposed to
actually doing the work.
Maybe he told me that and I just
misunderstood. But had I known that I would have to arrange to have
someone home on 2 different days rather than just one, I might have made
a different buying decision. He was very pleasant but left me thinking
that we could do this in one go if they would accept a pic from my
iphone or ask me to count windows doors etc. But I wanted this work
done so set the appt.
When appt time came, it was not the young
man who originally scoped the work. It was 2 kids who were polite but
looked very inexperienced. One of the kids was all tattooed up (if I
would turn someone away from my business because of their packaging, I
also don't want them in my home).
But bottom line is that the
work itself was very mediocre. After they did their thing and left, I
could still see light around corners of 2 doors. So I went to Lowes and
got weatherstripping and patched up their work. I have no idea what,
if anything, they did on any windows. And there is not a practical way
to check on work quality. Ideally, one would have a "air leakage"
before and after reading to see if a material difference has been
achieved. But there are not data points like that. But based on what I
can SEE with the doors, I'm going to guess that what I can't see with
the windows would likely be worse.
I made a mistake in not
following them around - but I pay above average prices in order to deal
with companies who do quality work without me having to follow them
around. This was a bit of a disappointment.
"The reason that we pre-inspect homes prior to performing the leak seal is so that we may assess the condition of the existing doors and windows, and note what materials are needed. As for the young man which was "tatted up", this is my son, Ryan, who is a very hard worker and has been commended on his work by other customers. It is unfortunate that some people may still judge a person by their appearance. As for the work, the leak seals which we perform on doors are subject to the condition of the door unit itself. These exterior doors were in bad condition and I believe that were done to the best of our ability. We strive for excellence and good customer service so I am sorry that this customer felt we did not provide that for him. Dirk"
Amess was left in the street infront of my house and on the driveway.
"Our office is contacting Member to see if we can come and rectify this. We always strive to do everything we can to do an outstanding job, and if there are issues , correct them. I do know the wiring on this home was not normal and we did not want to hook a light into it. We did not show any decking being installed on the estimate, but if it was told to her it would be installed, we will be happy to do it. We are offering to have an electrician come out and correct wiring and install a light if she would like."
