The electrician was patient in explaining what he was doing as he went along, and even when he found an additional problem, didn't skirt around how much it would cost to fix. He made sure the problem area was working before he left, and was highly knowledgeable about everything we asked.

This company is a complete rip off. I would not recommend them to anyone. They are strictly out to try to rip people off. For starters all I had was a GFCI outlet that was out. They charged $125 for a trip fee and wanted to charge a ridiculous amount to replace the GFCI. They also wanted to check some other outlets to be "safe" and found other "issues" for a total of over $1000 dollars. So I politely asked them to leave my property. I had another company to come out to repair the issue and they totally disagreed with their findings. This company is only out to make money . Customers beware

I needed to have my electric panel and several outlets updated and replaced, the Company sent the A-team John Kesl and Rick Ingram. They were knowledgeable, patient, and got the job done in a timely manner.

Matt replaced the two florescent light fixtures on my kitchen ceiling. Also, replaced my tubes with LED which is brighter and a long life. Will not have to hire a handyman just to replace the tubes. Both fixtures had black smoke marks, so I was lucky that I did not start a fire in the attic. Very professional and a pleasant personality. I plan to call Matt this fall to install a new electric panel in the garage, the existing one is 28 years old and could cause a fire.

For me, the experience was humiliating and embarrassing, and this is the reason it has taken me so long to reply. I had what I thought was a simple job. Replace an existing fire dectector. I know nothing about fire dectectors or electrical work period. I have no one to help me. When Mr. Electric called me, I told the lady I did not have a replacement and knew nothing about getting one, she volunteered that they had some. I questioned how much would I be charged for theirs. She replied, she could not tell me , I would have to talk with the electrician when he came. I do know they are going to charge more, but wanted to know how much. Anyway I set up an appointment. The electrician came. I found him to be quite intimidating. Before even talking about the job he was here for, he wanted to perform a quick check of my house to see how safe it was "at no cost to me" "something they ( I assume Mr. Electric) like to do", and because he was concerned about my safety (not exact, but close). I really was not interested, but felt a little pressured as he kept telling me it was free and implying that I should want this service and was somewhat negligent if I didn't. I let him. He finds what he says is an oversized breaker and that needs to be replaced, but "it's up to me" "my decision" but mind you this could cause a fire. What could I decide, but go ahead and replace it. Hey,like anyone else, I am afraid of fire. Cost me $120.15. Then we get to the fire dectector, that I called about in the first place. He looks at it and tells me what I all ready know. It's really old " these are good for about 10 years..." It's like 20+, and not working, and was beeping every 40 or so seconds telling me it was not working. That's why I called Mr. Electric. He asks me is that the only detector in the house? I say no, there is one upstairs. Even I know that one needs to be replaced also. I ask him how much am I paying for the dectectors. He tells me he doesn't know. I ask how much am I paying for having an electrician come out? He does not know, the charges are for the job. Something to that effect. I ask what is this costing me. Are you ready? $452.62 to replace and install 2 new fire dectectors. When I gasp at that he tells me if I don't want them he can just put the old one back. I can be back where I started. Now this is my fault, I could have said forget it. But now I have a breaker that I have been told is dangerous and 2 not working fire dectectors. Now I will have to go buy 2 fire dectectors and a breaker which I know nothing about and call another electrician and it won't be Mr. Electric ( which was the only choice from home advisor). I say go ahead cause I am feeling totally defeated and wanting my house safe. It cost me $620.02. Javier leaves my house telling me how awful it was about the fireman that was killed that week and, I assume, how good he felt that he was a part of keeping my home safe. I on the other hand felt so ashamed and embarrassed about t

May 15, 2015 I Contacted Mr. Electric after being referred by Home Advisor where he has a 4.5 rating from 146 reviews. I told them that I had a switch in my fuse box that would not stay in the on position. I explained that the fuse went to our spare bedroom and guest bath and that the home was only 3 years old. I then asked how much they charge by the hour. She told me they don’t work by the hour but by the job. I was also told that it would cost $125 to send an electrician to diagnose the problem but that he would tell me how much the job would cost before proceeding. Contacting and scheduling the inspection was easy and the two technicians, who arrived were polite and professional at 11:15 am. They finished before 12:30 pm and part of that time was used when they left our house to get supplies/parts? Neither electrician told us what the problem was before proceeding to fix the problem. My husband signed a work order and gave them a credit card. He was not given a copy of the signed work order. They left and said the office would email an invoice to me. I got the bill by 2:00pm. Here is what the invoice said: “Performed diagnostic and found that CFL bulbs in bathroom shorted out compromising the switches and AFCI breaker. Replaced AFCI breaker to affected circuit. Replaced compromised switches to affected circuit. Informed customer that if problem persists the fixture will need to be changed.” I was charged $793.97. After reviewing the bill, I called a couple of other electrical repair companies and read the description of work performed from the invoice and asked then what they thought it would cost to fix. I was told that it should cost between $250 - $300. The bill included: Basic Diagnostic; 1 Breaker 15 – 20 AMP POLE AFCI; 2 SINGLE POLE SWITH 15 AMP; 3 LED BULBS AND A 3 YR ADVANTAGE PLAN. 1. I had asked for their 15% discount that was offered on the Home Advisor site – but did not get it. 2. I did not ask for a 3 yr protection plan. 3. I was never told how much the job would cost before they did the work. 4. I was not given a copy of the signed work order. 5. I have extra LED bulbs – had they asked. 6. The electricians spent approximately 1hour on this project. I called Mr. Electric and talked to Jim. I told him the above story and I told him that it was entirely too costly for the work that was performed. I gave him 2 options: 1. They could come out and remove all that they had done and give me my money back or: 2. I would pay Mr. Electric $300.00 for the job that was done. Jim said he needed to talk with the owner and that $300 was not fair to Mr. Electric but he would call me back later in the day. Jim did call me back and we went back and forth but he finally said he would refund the credit card $493.97. The refund was done quickly - the next day. I am telling you my experience with Mr. Electric. You will need to decide if you need the hassle or not.
Response from Mr. Electric of San Antonio

"We don't agree with the facts presented here. All costs must be approved and signed by customer prior to any work being done. We understand that the customer talked to someone else who said they would have done it for $300. We do not know who this is or if they are licensed but anybody can say anything. To give a price on what something would cost to diagnose a problem that they never even saw is not possible. We could not be in business charging $300 for this job so if someone actually did the job for $300 they would not be in business long."

Darla was super friendly and helpful scheduling my appointment, which was within 2 days of my call, so minimal waiting for an optional installation. Matt was prompt and courteous, and concerned that the job was to my liking, which it was, and offered helpful advice, as well.

Rosemary promptly scheduled my service call. David arrived early the same morning, assessed our needs, provided an estimate, procured supplies, and completed the job in a timely manner! Customer service, attention to detail and professional courtesy were top-notch. Even after service was completed and paid for, Rosemary followed up by providing additional details we needed to document the services performed. Completely satisfied with licensed electrical services, professional customer service and happily refer Mr. Electric for all electrical needs, big and small.
