Joe was punctual with our scheduled appointment and very informative. He was willing to answer all of my questions and clear up any concerns I had. He also suggested how to avoid problems in the future. The estimated time/price I was given was fair and he kept his word when it came to the time frame it would take to fix the tv.

Went well. Road construction in front of shop makes for difficulty getting into parking lot, but that should be finished soon.

I called Joe's TV in the morning and he returned my call and said he would be at my house between 1:00 and 2:00. He called a little early and said he was available and was it OK to come on. Of course, it was. He got here quickly and did the work very efficiently and in a professional manner and even plugged in another HD cable for me that I had been reluctant to do myself.

My wife bought this nice looking, but used Phillips HD TV and it worked fine a few times before the picture went out. The sound was fine, just no picture. Called Joe after reading his reviews and explained the sypmtoms to him. He said he would take a look and we should bring the TV to his house. The guy didn't seem to have a real shop, but instead had a backyard with a bunch of disassembled TV's and a table that he put a cloth pad over to do his bench work. He unscrewed the back of the TV, removed the backing & took the power cord off. After opening it up, he pointed at a circuit board in the back of the TV and said "That's your problem, that's the backlight for the TV. If it's broke, you don't get a picture". He then replaced the back panel and put all the screws back in. Then he told me "Yeah, you'll have to get the part number off that board and order it; and if you do, sometimes those boards have the right number but still won't work". He could gotten the darn part number for the board while he had the TV's back panel off! Neither did he even offer to order the part and put it in! To add insult to injury he said, "That'll be $12.50 for the diagnostic". Got home EXTREMELY dissapointed and realized that the guy hadn't given us back the power cord either. JEEZ!!! How the heck has this individual gotten any good reviews let alone stay in business!!! Maybe he cared about the quality of his work before, but I HIGHLY recommend you go elsewhere.
Response from JOES TV AND VCR REPAIR SERVICES
"This customer came into my home-based business with information he had gotten off the internet. He had basically self-diagnosed his TV set. He gave me the impression that he just wanted to verify what he had read online. After opening up the TV I showed him the part that needed to be replaced, which was completely different from what he had gotten online. He seemed surprised at my diagnosis. He did not ask how much I would charge him to repair it. Only after putting his TV back together did it occur to him to get the part number so that he could order it himself. Since he had observed everything I had done, I suggested he could do that himself as well but also warned him to be absolutely sure that the part he was ordering was exactly the same as the one that needed to be replaced. He gave no indication that he wanted to have the TV serviced by me but that in fact, wanted to do the work himself. He also seemed surprised that I charged him 12.50 for diagnosing the problem, which is actually much less than what other TV repair shops charge. I left my shop right after the customer left & therefore I was not able to return his power cord to him. I did talk to him on the phone & told him that I would be closed for the rest of the weekend but that he can come back on Monday to pick it up, which he still is welcomed to do. I have been in this business since 1992 and always strive to be honest with my customers. I will continue to happily serve my customers that appreciate my work."

Joe came to our house right on time. He quickly diagnosed the problem. He gave me a choice for the part, he could get it locally or could order it on the internet. Getting it locally would cost me 40 dollars more but he could get it and then fix the tv that day. So he went to pick the part up and came back and fixed the tv -- awesome service. Joe's a good guy who really took care of this customer.

After inspecting the television, they let me know that the cost of my repair would almost equal a new TV. I really appreciated their advice because without it, I probably would have gone ahead with the repair not knowing. They were great to work with and I would absolutely recommend them to anyone having problems.

I contacted Joe on a Monday and he said he would be here on Monday late afternoon (to fit my schedule, what a concept!). He arrived when he was supposed to and promptly discovered that there was one of the boards on the flat screen that needed to be fixed, he took about 45 mins to diagnose and fix my TV. He told me the charge and we discussed how much it would have been to replace the board (more than what I paid for the TV, by the way). I would recommend him and will use him again if I need TV repair.

Joe looked at it and said it would be $69 total to fix. He said I could pick up the next day. Called ahead and he said it was finished and picked it up and it works as new. Great service, price and very nice man with small homebased business.

Although the parts were no longer available to repair my TV-VCR combo, Joe did not charge me for diagnosing the problem. I would definitely use him again. He was very pleasant and helpful. Prospective customers should not be put off by the appearance of his cluttered workshop.

I called Joe and he came out the same day to look at my TV. He told me what he thought was the problem, and told me how much it would cost to fix. I called him back two days later to come pickup the TV to fix. He fixed it the same day and brought it back the same day. He was very professional and friendly. Although my TV needed an extra part he still charged me the price he quoted.

I called Joe's TV when my plasma TV wouldn't come on. Joe came out right away, said I needed a power supply. He took the part necessary to the shop and brought it back several hours later. He cleaned up inside my tv as there was a lot of accumulated dust. The TV came on, but he said the receiver and cable box were not working either. We had had a severe storm the night before and he suspected that all had been blown out. He told me if I went and picked up a new box and receiver, he would return and connect everything for me. I picked up the components plus a new surge protector the next day, gave him a call and he promptly came back, connected all new components, tv and my surround sound and cleaned up and everything worked just as before! Great service, nice guy, very prompt. Will definitely call him in the future for any repairs or service. My computer had also blown out, so I guess I did take a hit from the storm!

I found "Joe's TV and VCR Repair Services" on Angie's List, and, since they have excellent reviews from their customers, I called them first. My mother's T.V. quit working after a storm knocked out the power to her room in a nursing home. Since her T.V. is installed on a wall shelf, over my head, and I am not able to remove it by myself, Mr. Joe Ramos offered to make a house call and diagnose the problem for a $45 diagnostic fee. He arrived within the hour, as promised, and was able to re-program the T.V. He did not charge any more than the pre-quoted amount. Mr. Ramos was kind, professional and knowledgeable. I will definitely be a repeat customer when the need arises, and I would very highly recommend him to any one in need of his repair services.
