The written estimate you received from us covered the work you requested without any additional charge. Your $99 payment to Angie's List would have paid for all the work. You were provided the estimate, you did not accept the no additional charge estimate and no work was done. If you have a different written estimate, please send me a copy. It was simply a pleasure doing business with them from the initial contact with their office staff right thru to the completion of the challenging job, requiring both an incisive analysis of the failure points/reason in the previous mountings and an insightful/creative strategy to efficiently modify the mountings to correct those issues.
After being provided a very complete discussion of those issues involved and a clear description of the modifications made to rectify the defects in the original mounting, we have complete confidence in the safety of the revised mounting.
The company's response was outstanding: acknowledging the safety concern involved, the dispatcher scheduled the service for the next morning, Josh and his helper then showed up exactly as scheduled, providing a courtesy call 30 minutes in advance of their arrival.
Given the time required to work out an appropriate plan of work, the necessity of working on quite heavy fixtures from considerable heights, the fact that seven separate fixtures were accessed and modified, and the quality of the work done, we feel the charges made were more than reasonable.
Not only do we ourselves intend to employ Good Electric's services again in the near future, we recommend them to others without reservation.

The appliance you added in your garage required a separate circuit by code and for safety. Connecting to your existing circuit would have been illegal, unsafe and a fire hazard. I am sorry you perceived my electrician's insistence on a separate circuit as coercion. As with all Angie's list customers we provide a written line item quote for the work requested. We will never provide a quote for something that is illegal or unsafe. You are free to choose if you want the work done. If you chose not to do the work, we thank you for the opportunity to quote your work and leave. There is no charge and no coercion. Our price for a separate circuit was not due to wire length, but the time required for two men. One to be in your attic and fishing wires to the other person at the electrical panel and to your new outlet, all without damaging any sheet rock. I reviewed the pricing and noticed an estimate error. You were charged for GFCI labor and material, when only the GFCI material was required as the labor was already included in the separate circuit price. We will be mailing you a refund check for the difference today. If you would like to call me, I would be happy to explain why connecting to an existing circuit was not safe.
