"This job was contracted in September of 2012 and not in September of 2013 as stated by [Member name removed]. In response to the job being not started at the agreed upon time was due to the rules of condominium that he resides in. Before we could start the demolition of his shower we needed to turn off the water supply at which time we were told by maintenance that the water for the entire building would need to be shut off and all tenants would need a 48 hour notice; abiding by the rules this caused a delay in the start date. Another rule set out by the condominium is that construction work is only to be done between the hours of 8 AM and 5 PM so we would arrive shortly after 8AM and leave by the required time of 5 PM. In September of 2012 Mr. And Mrs. [Member name removed] made a purchase of tile and laminate from a company that I've being contracting for, for the last 10 years. We are set up as their installation company. When we arrived at the job, besides the water issue that came up, the [Member name removed]’s started to change the material install and there arose another issue. The agreed upon material that I was there to install was changed to a material that I did not feel was recommended for the job they wanted. I was not going to be able to achieve the look they insisted upon with the new changes. They reinforced that they had it done this way in Mexico at their former residence, however, I expressed my professional opinion that this was not recommended and that I did not feel I could stand by my warranty with the changes they wanted to make. I advised them at that point I did not feel comfortable doing their job and installing tile in that manner. It was agreed that they would find a new installer and I would reimburse them for some of the monies paid down. The labor and material refunds were issued in the beginning of November 2012. Since clients are refunded once all material is returned to the distributor, the refund is sent to the selling vendor which can take up to 30 days. They didn't return the materials until their new installer was completed. I feel under all the circumstances all monies were in fact returned in a timely manner. These clients were never left without a response and we were in contact with them concerning their job at all times. Hopefully they were able to have the installation done as they desired with no future problems but my company has a warranty and reputation to stand by so I make sure our installations are done right within industry standards. In some instances it’s better to part ways with clients who expect you to complete a job that is not within those standards."
