Description of Work: They fixed my grandfather clock which is 30yrs old, the gentleman is the owner of the company and knows what he is doing when it comes to fixing clocks. He took apart the inner working of clock, explained what he saw and what he could do to get the clock working again. He had his clock repair kit with him.. Took him about 20 mins to get it oiled, tightened and then he put it all back together. All in all he was through in a little over an hour from time he arrived. He made himself available for me to call him and let him know how clock was working. He said the repair could last 1-3 yrs or more, or the inner workings could fail again due the age of clock. He also looked at our mantle clock which is 60 yrs old. He wound it up for me and got it running right again.

Description of Work: Helped to synchronize time and chime. Previously replaced chiming mechanisms in two mantle clocks. He is very busy but up front about how long it would take. Very careful with the clocks, respectful, and careful. Very, very nice man.

Description of Work: I have an old wall clock that used to belong to my grandmother. We have traveled a lot due to my husband being military. He has since retired and we've settled in San Antonio. The wall clock has been well taken care of, but needs some minor repairs. I called Clocks of San Antonio because of the great reviews on Angie's List. I was disappointed to find out that now-a-days Joel (the very nice man I spoke to) only does at-home repairs of grandfather clocks. He did recommend two other repair shops. I will definitely follow his recommendations.

Description of Work: Our grandfather clock had stopped working some time ago. We believe it stopped running because it needed lubrication and cleaning. The technician (and owner) was very curtious and fixed the clock, and showed me how to adjust it! A good experience!

 + -1 moreWhen the new baby cat knocked the 40-year old 100 days clock onto the floor causing the the fine wire that held the pendulum to snap, I didn't panic. I knew just where to take the clock for repair as Joel has done work in my home and in his shop for me for many years. When I took the clock in Joel told me that it could take about 8 weeks to repair as he had to order the wire from someone else. As I wasn't in a hurry and wanted it done right this was acceptable to me. Six weeks later Joel called to tell me the clock was fixed and ready for pick up. The gift from my father from so many years ago now sits where the cat can't knock it off and runs like it was new! As an added bonus, I fell in love with a new clock in the shop and bought it home to add to my collection!

 + -1 moreExcellent service. Joel did a complete check up and cleaning/lubricaiton of my clock. He discovered that the face plate pins were missing (probably from the only other time the clock had been serviced in another city). Rummaged in his "box" and found four pins to fit. Very informative about the clock case and the movement maker. Warned me that the movement maker was no longer in business and that getting replacement parts would not be possible if and when the need arises. Great nice-to-know information, so I won't be blind-sided if the clock needs to have the movement replaced in the next 25 years! Prompt, friendly and courteous. I would have him back again anytime!

 + -1 moreHe told me ahead of time what he would charge to examine it. This is an expensive clock and he took great care of it. He took it out and oiled it and replaced a few small parts on it. He was very professional and so thorough. His price was incredibly reasonable for the house visit and repair. The clock is working beautifully and the charms are sounding great. I will never call anybody else to work on the clock and I would recommend him to anybody.

He really cared for us as the customer. We needed a part and we ran to the store right as he was closing and he re opened up for us.
