Alamow Lawns & Tree Service

My only complaint (and a very minor one at that) is that they left a lot of clean-up for me to do.

The provider refused the tree service deal for 199.00 I had purchased a big deal back in Sept. for a lawn service. When Andy was done, he said I also do trees. I could do yours for 400.00. I told him I wasn't interested in tree service right now. In dec. I see that they have a big deal for 199.00 for 400.00 worth of tree service, so I bought it. I was told that I could not use this deal on a previous quote. I never asked for a quote. I personally think this is a bit ridiculous. So I did tried to get Andy to honor the 199.00 tree service since I had already paid for it, for 1 year of lawn service twice a month for the next year. He said he would have to charge me 300.00 more, since Angie's list gets half of the 199.00 so he could make his money. What a mark up. What a deal. I'll take the refund. I really thought that they would want my continued business.

The owner never answers the phone and the voicemail explains when they will call back. On four attempts, I only received a single call back. I missed the phone call on 1/7/14 and haven't heard from them since.

I purchased a coupon for $199 for 4 hrs. of work from Angie's List and then scheduled a time for Andie to meet my husband at our rental property to go over what needed to be done.  The necessary work exceeded the coupon amount, but it was all necessary.  A large Cedar tree that grows up through the deck is causing damage to the deck.  Instead of removing the tree, or other expensive options, Andie suggested we have someone come out and increase the size of the space in the deck....a great cost-saving.  We paid a total of $699 for all of the work.  Andie did an excellent job and everything looks great.

Unfortunately, they have very bad system in tracking appointments. I bought the Angie's Big Deal Nov 3 and the appointment for the service was schedule for Dec 3.
I got out of work and no one showed up. I call 3 or 4 times and no one answered the phone. I called Angie's List Customer Support and the next day I got a call from Alamo apologizing that they were confused and they didn't have my name listed in their appointments for that day.
We reschedule for the following week, and they were complaining that they need it to move some appointments to reschedule. That Thursday, I got out of work and I waited an hour, I call several times and no one showed up. That afternoon the owner call apologizing that it was his mistake that he went to the wrong house. I asked for my money back and they promised me that they will show up next week.
I gave them a 3rd chance and finally they came with lots of excuses, they were missing equipment, no space in the truck to finish the whole yard, after they committed to do extra work for all the inconveniences, The didn't finish the job, and I ask for a quote to finish what was left and he quoted me $2.000.00 dollars to finish.
It was a very unpleasant experience and I will not recommend this company.

I purchased this as one of Angie's Lists Big Deals.  I'm sure they had a good response to their ad, and as in all of Angie's Big Deals, some of these service providers tend to get overwhelmed with their responses and have a hard time keeping up.  It took me weeks to get them out on a mutually agreeable time, and I don't work.  Then, they were very late getting to the early morning appointment we agreed on, with no notice.  Once here, we went over the job I wanted.   They did most of what I wanted; did not do a few of the things I asked (probably forgot).  I was surprised that I had to go out and ask them to redo the shapes and sizes of some of the bushes even after I had specified during the pre-work meeting.  Overall I felt this service was just average, and I felt I got what I paid for.  They might be a better service during less busy times because they were nice, and easy, to deal with.

the crew worked very well, everyone went to task and the operation went smoothly. Very knowledgeable about lawn care, was giving tips.

There was some confusion with the scheduling of the service and I had to be rescheduled for a later date. They did a good job of removing all the dead trees and limbs. They did an exceptional job of cleaning up all the leaf and chip mess!

THE AMOUNT OF WORK THIS GROUP DID FOR THE COST WAS AAWESOME.  THE CLEANED UP EVERYWORK AREA AND MADE OUR TREES LOOK GREAT FOR THE COMING YEAR.  WE PAID THE SAME PRICE THE YEAR BEFORE AND ONLY RECEIVED ABOUT HALF OF WHAT THEY DID.  WE LIKED THEIR WORK SO MUCH THAT WE GOT THEM TO TAKE CARE OF ALL THE LEAVES IN OUR YARD AND CLEANUP.  WE WILLB E USING THIS GROUP AGAIN.

I purchased on 3 Nov. I waited one month for them to fulfill the landscape service packages I purchased. On the scheduled date, only two workers (not 3) showed up. Alamow never advised me they could not meet the full job requirements though we communicated back and forth. The 2 workers left for over an hour to rent a chipper and left 45 min early to go to the dump so that time was charged to my "16" hours of work. The workman told me the chipper rental would result in a $50 additional charge, which I had no problem with--though I don't know any landscape companies that do not own their own chippers! The next week Alamow called to charge me an additional $100 for dumping 6 truckloads, instead of $50! Since they left here with 1 truckload I was surprised by the company's charge. Since I have gone to the dump many times, I was not at all confused that a truckload is charged by vehicle--not by weight (6 trucks)! When they said they would not be able to do the third package until 8 January, I called them and cancelled the third package. Based on my experience, the workers while here did a good job, but I told Alamow I was disappointed with their regard for me as a customer in dragging the job on for over two months without advising me upfront that would be the case. They were given a list of specific tasks in November, so we're aware of the work involved, which was basic winter lawn maintenance. I decided to cancel rather than wait another month and possibly have them change priorities on me again. If they had told me there would be only 2 workers back when I bought the Big Deal, I could have made other arrangements that would have been much better for me and my family! In fairness to Alamow, they agreed to cancel the $100 charge for dumping or the chipper or whatever it was. I got my money back for the third package at the end of January.

Very prompt and affordable.

They did exactly what they promised, kept to the agreed-upon date and time. They cleaned up after their trimming and behaved in a very professional manner. I would definitely call them again.

They pruned and cleaned up the entire yard. Job was well done way above expectations! Even though it was am Angie's List recommendation, it was one of the best. I expected great but not as awesome as it was actually done. Thank you!

They did a great job, however my only complaint is the amount of work they were going to do for the $249 coupon (worth $500).   They gave me a price on trees in my back yard but I felt they were to expensive.  If they come down, I may use them again.

It took them a while to contact me and they were late when they did show up but they showed up with four guys. The deal was only supposed to be for two men for eight hours. They didn't charge me anything extra. They did more than I had expected them to. They even hauled off some brush that I had cut for free. It turned out better than I had expected.

After a storm, a large limb broke off from the very top of our 50+ feet high hackberry tree. As it came down, it broke three other large limbs that were left hanging. The tree is located five feet from a busy street located across a public park. Soon after, I purchased the Big Deal for $249 for $500 of Tree Service. Andy showed up on 10/29 but said he was very busy and could not schedule the work right away. I told him I was concerned with Halloween just around the corner and kids walking near the tree but he said to put a "caution" tape around it. I told him exactly what I wanted done and since the tree is outside our fence, we didn't need to be at home for him to do the work. He agreed and said he would show up in about a week. He never showed up so I contracted another tree service company.

Never got email/estimate or service. Still waiting for estimate/service--now just want to cancel and get my money back.

It took three phone calls and messages to set up someone to come out and look at my trees. (Week and a half)  When the person came out to look at my trees he was an hour early so I was still driving home from work... I felt quite rushed trying to get home so I could finally set up my tree trimming.
Then they couldn't come out for another week and a half to trim them.  They again showed up an hour early... I wasn't even showered yet.  It took them quite a long time to trim the small amount I could afford with my coupon.  They left a pretty good mess in my yard of leaves and branches.  It's the holidays and I didn't feel like complaining but I won't use this company again.
I have used other Tree trimming companies and never paid so much for so little.  Last year I had two trees removed along w/ stump removal and three other trees trimmed way back for only $350.00.  They completed the job in the same amount of time and cleaned up their mess quite well.

There were communication issues with the office in getting the service scheduled, but in the end I was happy with the result. We have three large live oaks in the backyard, and when Andy came over, he explained to me how much work could be done for the Angie's List special. Basically this included the trimming of one of the trees and hauling away the debris. He indicated if I wanted all three trees done, that would be an additional $900 or so. I decided to have them just do one tree.  Andy indicated they could come do the service soon, but I didn't want to deal with scheduling a time, so just told him to come around back and do it when they had the time. We again had some confusion with the office regarding whether I was supposed to call them to set up a time to do the tree. I explained that Andy agreed to do it when he could. That was straightened out, and within a week the two guys came and did the work. They were very quick, performed the trimming, and did a very thorough job of clean-up. I would certainly use them again in the future.

Great team! Showed up promptly, asked what I wanted done then went right to work on it and did a fabulous job. I definitely recommend this company.

Two men arrived to my house approximately 30 minutes after our scheduled appointment time.  One of the men took a look at the yard with me and I described more or less what needed to be done.  We moved into the house which has a xeriscaped yard in August of this year and all of the plants, bushes and weeds were overgrown to the point that you couldn't even see the back fence.  They worked for just over 4 hours trimming, pruning and pulling weeds.  They didn't quite have time to finish the entire job - it was a big project - but it looks so much better than before!  I will use their services again in the future if needed.

They did a great job. I would recommend them to anyone.
