An O ring dislodged in a pipe in my laundry room causing water to flow over and into the kitchen and hallway, thus ruining my hardwood floors. My entire first floor is hardwood and I was concerned that the newly laid wood floors would not match the areas that did not need to be ripped up and replaced. In the end, they looked seamless and no one can tell there is a difference between old and new wood. AWF worked with me on scheduling, which was difficult due to my being in and out of town for most of the process, and because of how they schedule their crews. They try to maximize the time that they utilize their crews, which can mean that they do not get to you in chronological order of getting your job knocked out in the timeliest of manners. Your job could be started and then the next set of guys (a different crew that do the staining and finishing, as opposed to the ones who started and ripped out the original flloor) may take a few days to a week til that crew is able to get back to finishing your job. This could be a real problem if you are living with the mess! I was not, but I could see this as a problem for some people. Be sure to be upfront in your expectations for finishing the job and explain your issues, because I will say that they did listen to me and tried to better accommodate me once I explained what a problem their timing was for me. Also, the foreman on each crew each gave me his personal cell # to call him if any problems along the way. They were responsive to all of my questions/concerns. The estimate given to me was $2000-3000 lower than other wood floor refinishers. And they had the best recommendations from my realtor (who knows all these guys) as to them being able to match new wood to old wood. I am pleased with the job at the end of the day. Ripping up a floor (having to move out all kitchen appliances, etc.) is heart-wrenching, especially having the fear that it will not turn out to match the rest of the existing flooring when it is done. SO, yes, I wholeheartedly recommend this company. Communication is key, however. Don't hesitate to keep in touch with the "salesperson" who originally comes to your house to make the estimate. They had finished the job, only for me to not be satisified with the color variation on the staining from new floor right next to old floor. The "salesperson" (estimator?) came out to see it at the end and she was not satisfied, either. SHe made them hand sand an area and re-do the stain in a couple areas. They were customer service oriented and responsive. So important when spending soo much money and going thru so much headache!

They were I guess average. There after the follow up was non existent. When I got their quote I asked them questions designed to help me evaluate it. I sent them an email to that effect and I never got a reply. The initial responsiveness was fine. They showed up for the call, they did the measurements and that whole stuff was fine.

Everything went as planned. They were on time and professional. The job was done in 4 days and looks wonderful. There were no surprises as far as extra costs and I could tell Nick, the installer, took pride in his work and made sure things were done right. We were very happy with all phases of this transaction.

While the job took longer than expected (two weeks vs four days), it was for good reason.  Management stopped by to inspect the work and determined it was not up to AWF's standards.  They then started over.  I was shocked, but happy.  I would use AWF again.  Team was very professional and arrived timely every morning during the work.

Overall, I am extremely happy with the work they did. I was moving into a townhouse  that needed new floors badly, and I was on a very tight schedule. The owner and I decided it would be easiest all around to simply install wood floors in the bedroom to match the rest of the house, rather than replacing the dirty, worn carpet with a new carpet. We also needed to pull up the old gross linoleum and carpet in the master and guest baths and replace it with tile. The only caveat was that I needed it all done within one week. When I called for an over the phone estimate (and to find out how realistic the time schedule was), the sales-person was very optimistic and said it would be absolutely no problem (of course). While I was slightly skeptical, I was so relieved that I finally received a yes from someone offering a relatively good price with such a great reputation, as other highly-rated flooring companies in San Antonio were not as accommodating. When Dino came the next day to do the estimate, it was obvious the sales person I spoke to had sort of passed the buck to him without explaining my limitations, as he seemed dubious about the timeline and the project when I re-explained it to him. However, my disappointment was quickly mitigated by Dino's willingness to be honest with me about how fast the project could realistically be done, what the project would involve, and even what pitfalls I could expect in the process. The next day, I had a proposal from him for the wood floors and a tentative one for the tile. Since I am completely naive about flooring and what it entailed (and I was on such a short schedule) he even helped me pick out tile (and no - it wasn't anything fancy or expensive for an up-sell, it was a basic moderately priced ceramic tile that was exactly what I had pictured). After the proposals were taken care of, he referred me to Michelle from Sun Carpet, who took care of the project from there. The crew did an awesome job and were extremely professional. Although they originally stated that the floors would be done by Saturday morning (8/24) at the latest, both the tile and wood installation was completed by Thursday afternoon (8/22)! Everything looked great, and I would absolutely recommend this company to anyone. I have absolutely no complaints.

The person who came was very good. He came out and measured the areas that we needed and provided the quote. His professionalism was very good. He was very knowledgeable and he knew what he was doing.

A rep came out, looked at the damage and agreed that a repair can be done but also hinted that he is more interested in replacing the whole floor, including the un damaged parts. Anyway, he promised to email me a quote for the repair and for total replacement. He suggested I go to their store and look at their products if a total replacement was an option. I did but wasn't interested in a total reflooring. However, he only sent me a quote for a complete restoring. I insisted that I wanted to have a repair but he ignored it and did not sent a repair quote. I got the impression that he was more interested in selling me a job rather then following the customers wishes. I did not hire this company for obvious reasons. The quote was fair but left a lot of room for tacking on fees.
Response from Advanced Wood Floors

"We apologize for any miscommunication about the work that needed to be done in your home. Based on our evaluation of the damaged floor, we determined that a full replacement would be necessary. In our assessment we found high levels of moisture and great variance in the color of this particular exotic species. Due to these conditions and our interest in providing the highest level of quality work, we recommended a full replacement. Unfortunately after taking a closer look at all the variables in this project, a repair to the floor would not suffice with our standards. We hope you have found what you were looking for, but are certainly available should you need help in the future."
