Over the course of 6 to 8 weeks, the mowers damaged the limestone steps that lead to a raised section of my yard. This occurred not once, not twice, but three times. After the first occurrence, I talked to Amanda and was assured that the crew would be reminded to use two men to carry their smaller mower up and down the 3 steps to avoid chipping them. I was annoyed but I let it slide. Accidents happen, right? A couple of weeks later, the steps were damaged a second time. Visible chips of limestone were found. This second incident created the most damage. I called Amanda again and said that there should probably be some sort of compensation. She said she would talk to Ferris and maybe they would trim a hedge for free. Seemed kinda crumby, but I accepted. Hedges were never trimmed and she never "got back to me" after I sent her photos of the second round of damage. The third occurrence...a couple of weeks later, additional damage was done (though not as bad as the second). I called Amanda a third time and was extremely annoyed at that point. She said she would talk to Ferris and asked me to send pictures again. I told her I wanted him to come to the house and look at the damage in person. I wanted to talk to him and point out the damage. She set an appointment for 8 AM on a Friday morning, I believe. So...at 7:55 AM I'm sitting on the steps waiting for Ferris. Twenty minutes later, he was still not there. I happened to open my front door and found his business card on the doormat. Apparently he showed up early to look at the steps. Dodged an annoyed customer, in my opinion. I called Amanda again and insisted that he come out so I could go over the damage and the compensation in person. She said she would call me back but never did. Fast forward one week...without a phone call or text message, Ferris shows up at my house at 8 or 8:15 the next Friday morning. I was highly annoyed but kept my cool. We went over the damage. I said I would have a mason come out and give me an estimate on the repair (I believed the cost would be around $300+ to replace the damaged stones, but I didn't know until I got an estimate). He agreed to pay for the damage after I got the estimate. Because we were finally getting somewhere (owner showing up, agreeing to fix, apologizing at last) I said we could continue service as long as his guys would stay off the raised tier altogether (I would mow that myself). He agreed and we parted on good terms, or so I thought. 20 minutes later, I receive an email from his company that stated: "Effective immediately Grass Works will no longer be servicing your property, if you have any questions please feel free to email. We wish you good luck moving forward!" You've got to be kidding me. Thinking this was just another communication blunder on their part, I sent them this email: "Amanda, I'm quite confused. Ferris just left here at 8:15 AM after working out a plan. Did he instruct you to end the service? If so, where do we stand on the repairs?" No response. So I sent this email that afternoon: "Ferris and Amanda, Not exactly sure what the status of our dealings are. At 8:15 Ferris is telling me he's going to get the steps fixed and we're going to continue the service with a slight alteration. At 8:23 I get an email saying you're no longer servicing the property. At 8:45 I send an email to you to clarify. Still haven't received a reply as of 2:35 pm. If you're no longer servicing the property, fine, but I need that stated again in an email at a minimum. Given the interactions this morning, I don't know what is going on." No response to the second email either. So, here we are two weeks later and I haven't heard from Ferris or Amanda. If Ferris makes good on our agreement, I’ll amend this review. If this review is still here at the time of your reading, it means that I still haven’t heard from him as of May 31, 2017.
