The worst!!! I waited around all day for A & E to show up for a warranty repair on a 3 week old dryer - when the guy called he said he couldn't come unless i paid upfront even though I was told there was no charge because it was under warranty - when I refused he called his supervisor and was told I had to recreate the repair ticket and they would not be coming - this is only the latest problem I have had with A & E - in the past they have not shown up or sent inept repairmen - I don't understand how this company survives I have never had a good experience - they are awful!

I scheduled online and was assigned a time slot of 1PM-5PM on a specific day. Received a call (voicemail) from the dispatcher 15 minutes before 1PM to say I was first call of the afternoon. Arrived at my house exactly at 1:00PM - I know this for sure since that is the timestamp on my phone when I retrieved the voicemail. Serviceman called at about 3:00PM claiming that he was there at 1PM and nobody was at home. He also asked whether it was a double or single oven even though this was clearly spelt out on the service request. When he heard double he said the company would need to send a helper (at additional cost) to help him pull the oven out. I agreed assuming a helper would be arrive with him. Serviceman arrived 1/2 hour later without a helper. Checked power on the main board from the front of the oven then pulled the oven out 12" - why I do not know since nothing else is accessible without pulling it out all the way. He checked online and told me if problem is the computer board then it is no longer available. To get a helper and pull the oven out in order to check the fuses in the back would cost over $450 more and it could still be the computer board for which there is no replacement available. He convinced me at that point it was better to buy a new oven (which runs around $3k). I helped him push the oven back in and while we were doing this it beeped and the inside light came on. As we pushed more it did this a few more times. This made me believe there was a loose power wire in the back which was connecting intermittently. He brushed aside my comments - clearly not wanting to take further action. At this point I paid the $130 service fee and began to think about all that transpired. My conclusion was to go on Angies list and find a good reputable local company. I found someone who referred to me another local company who he said was better equipped to take care of this. The other company was very open and honest on the phone and agreed to give it a shot. I will write a review for them after they come. I am not at all impressed with A&E. I get the feeling that they fix simple problems and just try to get the minimum service fee on all the rest by convincing the homeowner that the appliance should just be replaced. At $130 a call they can generate quite a bit of daily revenue doing this. I would recommend trying to find a smaller local company with a good reputation.
Description of Work: Provider did a minimal evaluation of non-functioning electric wall oven and then declared not worth fixing. Charged the minimum $130 service charge,

ed I had explained to the call center when I placed the call that I was a property manager of the property I was calling about. I asked that they give 1/2 heads up before arrival so that I could meet him. The tech called and said he was about 20 minutes away. I told him I would meet him in front of the building. Five minutes later the call center called and said they could not have their techs waiting for customers and he would be going on to the next job 4 blocks away. I explained that he never said he was at the location and I could be there in 5 minutes and he never rang the tenant's bell All the response I got was the repeating scripted response..."we can't have service tech waiting for customers to arrive". I went to the location anyway assuming he would come back after the call 4 blocks away. I waited over an hour and no one showed up. I finally left. I will not use them again. Apparently they feel their time is more valuable than mine. They should take out the "service" in their name.

Awful from start to finish. We scheduled a service appointment because they are Factory approved and the compressor was still under warrantee. A Compressor costs about four hundred dollars. After meeting with the A&E service technician, I decided to pay the four hundred dollars and have the job completed by someone more professional who was actually willing to do the job. I was given a window from 8am-5pm, with a "courrtesy call" 1/2 hour before to assure I'd be home. Well, I wasn't home when he showed up (no call), but luckily my father had just gotten home with my kids. The guy called me and said he couldn't access the fridge (funny because I had someone in there the day before who accessed it just fine but suggested I call the factory technicians so the part would be covered). Then he said he wan't going to move the fridge for fear that he may damage the floor and walls... mind you our fridge has wheels on it and can be easily pulled from it's spot, as evidenced by the tech. the day before. Then he said the only way he would fix it was if we had someone to pull out the fridge for him and place it practically in our living room. THen he said I needed to pay the $ for the service call even though he didn't do anything, just for showing up. Huh? Luckily he didn't have my credit card info so I refused to do that. Can you say Diva who doesn't want to do his job? Then I read all these horrible things on Angie's list about A&E and ended it there. I called the repairman who initially diagnosed the problem (who by the way has an "A" rating on angie's list) and paid the extra four hundred dollars to get it fixed the right way. The problem was solved in three days. Unfortunately these guys are the factory service guys so they don't need the business and could care less what's written about them on ANgies list.... and it shows. If at all possible, do not use these guys!!!

Tech called and told me of fees before even showing up, I told him the refrigerator was under 1 year warranty and that the manufacturer should be paying. After arguing with him on the phone told him to look at the d*** thing first and fix it and Ill worry about who pays when its fixed. arrived late, but did at least call in advance. Tech said that they needed to order a part and that it was a manufacturers defect. It has been 3 weeks and we still have been unable to get them to return. All calls to the office have been unsuccessful. I had a Maytag rep call and he also had no luck. I would never use this place again, but the other place (Wind Service) Maytag has listed didnt even show up or call, so I guess this is the best of the two places. Over a month in the summer with no refrigerator.

Original appointment was set up through Kitchenaid customer service. Around 12:30 I called A&E, and was told that the technician had a death in the family and that they would have to reschedule. Even though they didn't have the courtesy to call me, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. For the re-scheduled appointment, again A&E called the day before to say that a technician would arrive between 8-12. I took another day off from work and waited. This time at least they called me, around 10:30, to say that the technician was out sick and that they can't get anyone to fill in. So we had to reschedule, again. The customer service rep agreed to give me the first appointment of the day. Later that day. I got a recorded message from A&E to call and reschedule my appointment. When I called, the customer service rep said that the new date needs to be changed, but he didn't know why. When I complained, he agreed to leave it as scheduled. When I told him that I was promised the first appointment, he said he can't guarantee it. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was transferred to a line that kept ringing for over 10 minutes. I finally hung up. I called Kitchenaid to ask if they had any other companies that do warranty work. Needless to say I'm not giving A&E a third chance.
Description of Work: A&E was supposed to provide Warranty Service for a Kitchenaid Gas Range. They kept cancelling the appointment even after confirming it on the prior day.

The microwave broke just before Thanksgiving. It was finally repaired after Christmas. That should tell you how it went. When calling the manufacturer of the microwave, we asked not to be given A&E as a repair place, but that was the only company they used. When they arrived, they said that the key pad shorted. They had to order the part and it would be delivered in about 2 weeks. When it arrived, we were to make another appointment. Part arrived, but we did not open the box and called for an appointment instead. When A&E arrived, they opened the box only to find out that the part was not the right color. We have a black microwave and the part was white. He ordered another part and told us the same thing, when the part arrived to schedule an appointment. 2 weeks later the part arrived and appointment scheduled. When the tech started to install the product he said there was a problem. Needless to say we were not happy. In the end, and after a month, the microwave is working. I would not recommend these people. I feel they draw out the appointments just to charge back the manufacturers at the homeowner's expense.

They did not seem knowledgeable. I was charged for 3 repairs when only one was the problem. The repair man had to constantly call his supervisor to figure out what to do.
Description of Work: Kitchen build in refrigerator stopped working and was making a clicking noise. They came 3 separate times over 2 months to repair the problem. The first 2 time they replaced vent tubing but that did not fix the problem. The third time they were correct in diagnosing the problem as a fault control panel.

This company is the worst of the worst of the worst. On one occasion a repairman left a tool -- connected -- in our drier. I couldn't get it out. When I called his office to get him to turn around and come back, I was told I had to schedule an appointment. He didn't return for two days, during which the unit was non-operational. On another occasion, the repairman ripped the drier duct from the wall while he was working on the unit, shredding the duct tube in a manner that it had to be re-installed by someone who does duct work. The repairman never told us about this and we ended up with high levels of carbon monoxide in our home. On yet another occasion, the repairman "fixed" the drier only to have it smoke several hours later causing us to call the fire department. Stay away from this company. They're bad news.

Repairman spent 10-15 minutes diagnosing a problem and stated repairs very expensive and would only guaranty those parts for 90 days. Stated not worth it and would take time to get the parts anyway, charged $140. He came up with a list of parts and service that would have been over $650+ and stated I should have kept up with a service contract and that a washing machine only last about 5-6 yrs. The estimate cost more than a Dr. or Specialist visit. Don't call Whirlpool for a service if they refer service from this company. My first incident with excessive charges from Hurricane Sandy and they were referred by Whirlpool. I bought a new LG washer.

Company sent out first time by company we bought the appliance from. Set date and time, when it came they called that they would not be able to arrive within the FIVE hours I was told to expect them. Repairman arrived 3 hours later and then stated he had to drive and hour away to pick up the part needed. The appliance was then repaired....a month later same issue happened with the washing machine. We were still under contract with the company and therefore called them in. The exact same experience happened as before. Now on the third try, same issue with the machine, called for appointment, was given date and time. On the day, on the last hour the repairman was expected to arrive the company calls and states he WILL NOT be able to arrive that day! He comes the next day, after I have cancelled clients once again, and its a repeat of the first two experiences...he has to leave to get the part. The last repairman was surly and shifty, the first two were likeable but both were unable to say why that part kept needing replaced.
Description of Work: Maytag HE washer would not start. Repairman replaced the part, machine worked for a month then needed same part, etc, etc, etc.

This service organization is used by GE, who arranged for them to repair my new clothes dryer under warranty (apparently A & E is used as a repair agent by a number of large companies). I had no choice of repair service, and upon looking up A & E on the internet, I expected the worst - they have uniformly low ratings and complaints. However, the repairman showed up at the appointed date/time, and he was knowledgeable, courteous and forthcoming. He located and repaired the problem quickly. No complaints. (Perhaps I was a lucky exception, judging by the other reviews I observed on the web).

On March 15th because my fridge broke. A&E said they wouldn't be able to make until March 20th. My tenant stayed home from work to wait for them and when they showed up, they said they needed to order a part and they weren't sure how long it would take and that I would have to wait until the part arrived before I could schedule another appointment. The part arrived the next day, but when I called to schedule the next appointment, they couldn't send anyone until March 26th!!! The repairman called me from the house today, and said that there was nobody there and that he had to leave. I asked him to wait five minutes while I tried to call my tenant and he reluctantly agreed. I called and texted my tenant, but he did not answer, so I called back the repairman and told him to go, but asked if he could return if I found my tenant. He said probably not, but he would let the office know that I needed a new appointment and they would try to reschedule. I sent a text to my tenant with the driver's number and fifteen minutes later he told me that a) his girlfriend was home the whole time and b) he called the driver and asked him to come back and he refused. I'm not sure how long this guy spent at the door, but I'm pretty sure he was ringing the wrong doorbell. I called up A&E to see when the next appointment was scheduled for and they had no idea that I needed a new one. When they checked the schedule, they said they couldn't get anyone there until APRIL 3RD!!! I was p***** and asked to speak to a manager. I have been on hold for one hour and thirty minutes. I hear hold music, the, every once in awhile I hear a crackle when someone sort of picks up the phone, and then I'm placed on hold again. I am taking this hold time to post as many bad reviews of this company as I can.
Description of Work: I can't imagine anyone will ever read this in a timely manner -- this company sells "warranty" service and you don't know how bad they are until years down the road when you call them because something goes wrong. Still... I had such a bad experience with them, that I want to share it.

Purchased a Whirlpool washing machine on 09/24/2009. Noticed it was depositing grease on clothes. Whirlpool contacted A&E, their 3rd party repair company, to ascertain the problem. On 9/21/10 A&E sent a repairman out who cleaned grease off the agitator and told us to run a few washes with white vinegar. When this did not resolve the problem and we were still getting grease on clothes, we called again. This time the repairman who arrived claimed it was the transmission which he claimed to have changed. In October 2011 started noticing grease on clothes again and called A&E. They sent a "tech" out who said he couldn't see how the grease was getting on clothes. He pulled the entire machine apart and reassembled it. As he was leaving he said he ran a "small" wash "just a little water" and everything was fine. We went to do a wash, turned the washer on, it started filling up for a few seconds and shut down. After a few tries, the machine filled, went through its wash cycle and shut down again. In order to get it working, we have to turn the dial to the spin cycle to complete the process. To date, that is still the state of the washing machine - manually turn the dial to start the spin cycle. We called A&E "Resolution Hotline" and scheduled another appointment a week later - December 6. The tech called on time and told us there would be a charge for the work. When we argued with him, he hung up. Called Resolution Hotline again and was told that was a mistake, it was listed as a return call and would be no charge. Was also told they had cleared it with their Routing Department and the repairman would return. When no one returned, called Resolution Hotline and was told the call was canceled because we told him we were buying a new machine - not true. Reached their call "Escalation" Dept. and was given some run around about having used abusive language which was untrue. Then told we would have to pay for the repair since it was a different matter. When we explained it was because the tech on the original matter broke the machine "Escalation" said the tech must have misunderstood. I believe the tech could have been trying to extort money from us without his employer's knowledge. At any rate the outfit is totally inept, unprofessional, untrained. Their "Resolution Hotline" does not resolve, only makes new appointments and "apologizes for the inconvenience." We now have an appointment for Friday, 12/9/2011 - am not expecting any good results.
Description of Work: At the request of Whirpool, on 9/21/10 a technician from A&E Factory Service arrived to ascertain the problem of grease being deposited on our clothes from a washing machine we had purchased which was still under warranty. This tech cleaned grease off the agitator and various other places and told us to run a few washes with white vinegar. About a month later, we noticed grease again on the clothes, particularly on a new set of sheets which had never been washed before. Called A&E and another repairman was sent on 11/5/10. He claimed he had to replace the transmission which we assume he did. In November 2011, the problem arose again and called A&E who sent out another repairman on 12/1/2011. When the repairman called to tell us he was arriving, he advised there was a charge which we disputed. The tech called his office and was told there was no charge. When the repairman arrived he completely disassembled the washing machine to find where the grease was coming from but said he didn't see how grease came in contact with clothes. He reassembled the machine. As he was leaving he said he ran a "small" cycle and everything was fine. When we tried to use the machine, it would not work. Eventually it did work up to the spin cycle. Now we have to manually turn the dial to put the machine into the spin cycle. Prior to his visit, the washing machine completed its full cycle with no assistance.

I purchased a refrigerator at Lowes. It arrived not-working. Lowes called A&E and set up an appointment for October 6, 2011 between 1 and 5 pm. I intentionally gave Lowes my CELL PHONE number as the ONLY contact number for me, and they told me that's the number they gave to A&E. A Lowes supervisor called me to let me know they'd talked to A&E, that A&E would be at my home before 5 pm, and that they would call first. At 4:40 pm, I called A&E to find out where their technician was. They looked up my name and told me they had tried to call MY HOME NUMBER. THIS IS NOT TRUE! People were at my home all afternoon, and my home phone did not ring ONCE. A&E then tried to reschedule for the 17TH!!!! That's 11 days away! I said no and hung up. Immediately following this call, my HOME PHONE rung with a message to call A&E. This was the ONLY call I got on my home phone that afternoon, and my CALLER ID list proves this. A&E seems to have looked up my home phone number somewhere and used my "not answering" as an excuse to not show up for the appointment. They are clearly overbooked, which is why the next date they would give me was 11 days away. I WOULD AVOID DEALING WITH A&E AT ALL COSTS. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME. Just want to be clear here that Lowes has tried pretty hard to make things right, and don't seem in any way to be involved in A&E's shenanigans.
Description of Work: The only service A&E provided to me was a heap of aggravation. At this point I would never let them into my house, especially after reading the other review on here. The "spend amount" is zero because it was supposed to be in-warranty service.

A&E: Service You Can Count On NOT TO COME AND FIX YOUR APPLIANCE! This company is the worst managed, most poorly trained, and least professional company I have ever dealt with in nearly 50 years of dealing with companies of all natures. Quite simply this "professional" appliance repair company is no more than a house of cards ready to fall, hired as a subcontractor of Whirlpool that became HANDS OFF with repairing their own products, so this company A&E turns around and hires service technicians around the country and ATTEMPTS to micromanage them all from a small office in Texas. This is why my $1000+ brand new washing machine has been sitting broken for nearly 3 weeks when its still under warranty and I paid for the repairs upfront expecting the fastest possible service. I have been going to the laundromat spending $30 a day on loads as they sit around and OPT not to come. I called A&E whose representative on the phone just kept reading from premade card messages, not giving me one human response until we mentioned "lawyer" then he paused got the "LAWSUIT CARD" and began to say "the conversation will now end since YOU have opted to seek legal advice, let me refer you to our legal department." Hey, LOUIS, A&E "Manager" that didn't let us talk to anyone else at your company, if you had just scheduled a service tech to my house like you promised and like I paid you for, this conversation would not happen. Nor would this Angie's List post happen either, but since you were unmovable in not delegating a technician to my house the next day, making me wait 6 more days and THEY STILL HAVEN'T SHOWED UP ON THE 6th day, here we are, your business itself is proven to provide false gaurantees and go against what your own mission statement proclaims and instills in the public's mind. This was ne'er the case with A&E Factory Service which I pray all good people in the USA do not have to encounter in their daily lives. They lied about "knowing" the schedules of the technicians then retracted that saying "we don't know the schedules of our technicians," namely when we asked, why didn't our guy show up on the date we scheduled, then why he can't come the next day. The representative/manager at A&E Factory Service explained they need "two technicians" to complete our "specific" job and the next available date "two technicians would be available is" 6 days from now! Need I mention that I have someone in Hospice care here whom I watch 24/7 and don't have 2 hours to go to the Laundromat, they know this, and yet lifted NO FINGERS to even make the repair possible that I paid them for upfront. So the guy can't come today, any normal business would come the next day and make it right, no we got pushed back 6 days. We're on the 6th day, the guy FRANK whatever, promised to show up at 10AM, and still has not arrived. We have been on the phone with A&E Factory Service all morning and we are quite certain at this point either this company has no control over its "contractors" and employees or are torturing our family on purpose, our dying relative having to suffer the most with dirty linen as they play their games. AVOID A&E FACTORY SERVICE. Shame on all of them, shame. In discussions with a friend, the ticket line at your Supermarket's Deli is more efficient than this state of the art A&E Factory Service Support system. At least the Deli would have taken care of me in the order I came/was chosen. A&E Factory Service has a less efficient support system than your local supermarket with ticket systems (invented around since 1960). That in itself is beyond inexcusable. TO A&E Management: Welcome to the Twenty FIRST Century, get with the program or more complaints (that your lawyer "shpeil" that Louis read me so quickly proving this happens all the time and you are powerless to help anyone beyond "hoping" the technician shows up at your clients homes/businesses refering them to the legal department when you are out of things to say/lie about), will be forthcoming. So, A&E Factory service has been paid, guaranteed to come, and yet the job is not done. Miserable business model to put the last person of the day you can't fit in AT THE END OF THE ENTIRE LIST of homes and businesses you need to service. Proves they are in the early 20th century on their support model and have little control over their own technicians that are floating around the country doing whatever, taking their time from job to job INCITING literally angry comments like this, I have no other option, no other recourse except to share this story of this miserable company and the miserable service and how no guarantee except the fact your money becomes theirs is a certainty. I am sitting here wondering how my Washer is going to get fixed and if I can even get my money back from A&E Factory service, borderline thievery at this point.
Description of Work: Washing Machine UNDER WARRANTY broke on June 15 was meant to be fixed. A&E Factory service promised to have a technician come June 23, almost a week after, fine. A&E Factory service technicians took their time on the job before ours on the 23rd, couldn't fit us in, so we had to reschedule for, not the next day, the 29th, a full week later. It is the 29th and they still did not appear. Forgot to mention I paid in Full for the repair, the service, and the parts ahead of time, simply waiting on A&E Factory Service technicians to promise to show up 2 weeks late at that.

Maytag was informed of this since they recommended their service. Not one call from A&E customer service regarding getting me on schedule ASAP. Was told Maytag made another appointment for me but I was never notified.
Description of Work: None. Never showed up at appointed time. At end of day I was told we would be next on his list but never called, never showed.
