Hofer Wood Shutters

The experience was wonderful. They were prompt and very professional. They called me back. They cleaned everything up and left no mess. They made sure the stain matched my woodwork. I just love everything they did.

Jim was excellent and very professional. He put wood shutters in every window. Everything was done to my expectations.
He came on time and did an excellent job with the color matching and installation. Jim and his family did all the work and
cleaned-up when they left. The price is on the high end, but It was a job well done and I would use this company again.

Within about two weeks Mr Hofer came in person with his son to install the shutters. He and his son took great care and did excellent work.  Mr Hofer and his son are very personable , intelligent people and they get to work promptly when it comes time to install the shutters. No detail is too small .  I ordered a shutter to fit one large window and a double window in the kitchen, a large double window in the master bedroom and an arched window in the study.  The shutters fit perfectly and can be opened so the windows can be cleaned or opened if needed. The shutters seem very sturdy yet all moving parts work perfectly. The installation of the shutters took about an hour and a half or less.  No time was wasted.

 I couldnt have asked for more. I had already paid part of the cost when the initial estimate had been made.The remainder of the cost was paid after all of the work had been done.  Both Mr Hofer and his son cleaned up after the work was done.

Jim arrived promptly when we called for an estimate, which he delivered via email later that same day after taking rough measurements. The bid was competitive, and he was even willing to negotiate. We quickly arranged a second appointment for final measurements. He was always punctual and courteous, and he quickly responded to questions. He oversaw installation himself, and he and his team were polite, professional and did top-quality work, even taking care to clean up, remove old blinds and reposition the furniture when finished. The installation, finish and color match on the sturdy shutters were flawless, and the shutters arrived when promised despite being ordered over the holidays. The shutters came with a lifetime guarantee. We were very pleased and highly recommend the company.

They installed the shutters on the front and we decided to order more.  The front shutter paint didn't match the window trim well
so when the additional shutters came in, they picked up the first order and painted them again to where the match well.   Very happy with the results.

A very good experience. Promptly showed up for measurements at the appointed time. Provided a ballpark estimate at the time he measured, and a formal qoute, very close to his estimates, within a couple of business days of measuring (which was done on a day leading to a holiday weekend). Shutters were ready when he said they would be. And he held them for us while we were delayed with other work that needed to be performed prior to installing the shutters. Once we were ready to install he was able to schedule a date in the very near future, showed up when promised, and he and his worker provided professional and courteous installation. We are very pleased with the shutters, the price, and the service. Would recommend to others.

I wanted to upgrade our window treatments and decided on shutters after doing extensive research on various types of window coverings..  Once the shutter decision was made, I searched for a shutter company in Angie's List.  I was looking for quality, service, consultation, and value for the price.  I found all that with Jim Hofer and his product.

I contacted him in early September and he came out the next day for the consultation, etc.  I had tons of questions about shutters in general and, in particular, his product.  He answered them to my satisfaction, he gave some suggestions, he showed me some pictures of his prior installations, etc.  The shutters are Texas-built and come with a transferable warranty which was important to me.  I was interested in a quote which he provided by the next day.  Since I was doing all the windows at once, he gave me a discount on the price, too.  He explained that $5000 would need to be paid at the time of the order with the balance paid at installation.  That was fine to me as these were custom shutters.

I was doing some other home improvements at the time and I told Jim that I accepted his quoted price...but, I would not be able to install until all the projects were done and the final painting was complete.  Jim agreed to that and told me to keep him informed of our progress.  Once I was ready, we placed the order for the shutter build.  I gave him our paint number so he could match the shutters to our newly painted trim.  The shutters were even ready a week ahead of schedule which was great.

Today (mid-December), Jim and his son, Jason, installed the shutters.  They were done in about 3 hours.  The shutters are just beautiful.  The quality is evident.  The color was a perfect match to our trim.  They fit great.  They open easily for cleaning.  They provide an instant 'upgraded' look to the home....both inside and outside.  I told them, "I feel like I live in an upscale home".  I am so pleased.  I would definitely work with Jim again and would refer him to anyone who wanted the quality of shutters he provides.  Thank you.

A friend recommended Jim to us.  We saw his work in their new home and were very impressed.  He came out and provided us with an estimate within a few days.  We gave him the paint code from our trim and he had it custom mixed to match our interior.  The shutters were ready in about 4 weeks and he came out and installed them personally.  He was very professional.

I used Angie's list to find vendors, and the top-rated vendor tried to sell me on plastic shutters.  I called Hofer and they quoted wood at about $500 less than the plastic.  The quality of the shutters is outstanding -- some of the best I've seen.  My advice -- skip the plastic shutters and call Hofer.

quality of shutters are excellent ... The shutters open like doors which I love. I was told by other companies that in order to open and close shutters i would have to lift them up and then shut them because of how heavy they were....with the shutters put in by Jim Hofer they open and shut like doors....I love them!!! I would definitely use them again whenever I move to a bigger home....he's not the greatest at answering emails but the quality of work make up for it!

I was so impressed when I saw the finished product.  I found Mr. Hofer on Angie's list due to his reputation.  The quality is just exceptional.   My husband was home for the install and said the 8 windows only took about 45 minutes.

I have now asked to do 2 more rooms!

This was a small job, but I was so impressed with Jim Hofer's responsiveness, I decided it warranted a review. We just moved into a new home which had customer shutters. Many of the pins that attach the shutters together had fallen out. I tried to go to Home Depot or Lowe's, but apparantly these pins can only be found through the installer of the shutters. Since I didn't know who that was, I found Hofer Wood Interior on Angie's List. Jim Hofer came over the same day. Based on information given to him over the phone, he estimated the cost to be about $75. Once he started repairing the shutters he mentioned the job was more than he expected. I, of course, expected him to charge more at the end but he didn't. And not only did he stick to his estimate, he accepted a 10% off coupon and rounded down! So a $75 job became $65. This was a small job that he could have easily dismissed...I'm sure he had bigger jobs to get to. We talked a lot about my shutters and I will definitely call him if I need anything else. I also asked him if he did work with blinds as well (we have blinds on the back side of our house). He said yes he did, but he can't be as competitve as with shutters. Again, he could have tried to sell me up, but he didn't. He's honest, professional and responsive!

We called Jim and 2 other shutter providers from Angie's list for estimates. Jim came out to give us an estimate within 48 hours of the initial phone call.  He was by the far the most knowledgeable about real custom wood shutters. We were expecting his estimate to be on the high side to do the level of customization some of our windows required (arched, extra large, crank openings). We were pleasently surprised when his estimate was the lowest of the three quotes, including one quote for polywood. From the time we ordered with Jim it took 4 weeks for the shutters to be made, custom painted to match the various trim colors in our house, and installed.  The other two quotes estimated an installation date of 8 weeks after order date.The shutters have completely transformed the look of our house from inside and outside. We decided to go with the 4 1/2 inch, single panel plantation shutters after a recommendation from Jim's son, who works with him. They look fantastic! We could not be happier with the finished product. We also ordered roman shades for 9 french doors from Jim. We went with a basic style and fabric and we have been happy with those as well!

We would highly recommend Jim Hoefer if you are considering shutters for your home.

Jim Hofer responded quickly to our initial call and came to our house for measurements the next day.   The shutters were ready in about 3 weeks (other companies stated that it would take about 6 weeks),and  installation was well done.  The shutters are beautiful, and we're very pleased.   We'd definitely recommend Hofer services and would use them again.

Jim returned my initial phone call very quickly, even though he was on vacation.  We set up a time for him to come measure my entire house for shutters.  He was on time and professional, answering all my questions.  I received a quote the very next day via email.  I will warn you that you must pay quite a bit of the money up front, but that is understandable since the shutters are all custom made and ordered from a company here in Texas.  Jim painted the shutters to match my trim, and installed them around 4 weeks (approx) after I ordered them.  He was always quick to respond to any email or messages I left for him.  When Jim and his son installed our shutters, we did have problem with a front window.  Unfortunately the measurement was off and the shutter didn't fit.  Jim was able to have the  new shutter expedited, and he was able to install it one week later at no extra cost to me.  The problem was taken care of easily without any stress.  Great service!  The shutters look amazing and we love them!  An extra bonus is that the shutters come with warranty, so if my kid breaks something, the company will send Jim out to repair them. 

Called Jeff and his company to come out and install the plantation shutters. He came out the next day and was very detailed on the measuring. He even went the extra mile to come out and speak with the kitchen install people to make sure our custom kitchen cabinets did not overlap the trim to the new shutters. He then came out one more time after the kitchen cabinets were installed so he could match the plantation shutters to the newly installed kitchen cabinets. Jeff's company went above and boyond my expectation.

I met with Jim for an estimate. He explained the processes from start to finish and was detailed in looking at shutters that needed repair.  We corresponded throughout the construction processes and he was very responsive to any questions or concerns that I had.  The shutters were installed quickly and they are beautiful!   We are very pleased and are now talking about having our bedroom done in shutters.  We love them!

  Jim had custom shutters made for the front rooms of our house that were stained to match our trim and also custom painted shutters for our living room and M bath. Jim was very friendly and easy to deal with. We love the wood shutters, they really give our home that 'finished custom look" He does ask for a large deposit up front because of the custom work which was the only surprise to me, but everything was done on time and looks great.

We are thrilled with our choice of Hofer Wood Interior for our custom plantation shutters. Jim and his family members (son and nephew) were just an absolute delight to work with.   Jim is really personable and offers high quality wood shutters from O'hare Shutters made in Lubbock, TX (not some lesser quality Chinese import) that look fantastic in our Master Bedroom at a reasonable price (roughly $18.95 per sq foot). He was on time for appointments and when delayed on the day of install he called ahead of time and told me he was running late by about an hour. He is pretty low key but takes ownership of the project from start to finish.  He bids the work and does the install himself with the help of his family members. When I grew concerned about blade side he stepped in an gave me his honest opinion on what would look good and what he would do if it was this was his own home. We went with the 4 inch Island Blades recommended and have no regrets.  He will give you an honest ball park install date upon bidding but will firm up that dates with a deposit.  There were no surprises here.  He painted the shutters to match our trim and they look awesome. He installed two custom shutters for two large round windows that had proved to be problematic finding regular blinds for in our Southlake home.  The install was done very quickly and professionally.  He even took the time to show me how to maintain and clean the shutters. I highly recommend Jim and will not go anywhere else for custom shutters. Neither should you! You might save a buck here or there but the outstanding MADE IN THE USA quality product, friendly personality, super competitive prices, and most importantly ZERO headaches make Hofer Wood Interior a no-brainer choice.  My only warning is your spouse will love the plantation shutters so much she will want them in every window in your home and that can prove to be costly. Needless to say we will use Jim again for some additional plantation shutters very soon.

He refunded the 800 dollars, but kept a small piece of wood that holds the blinds.  All i want is this piece back and its been six days since he said he would drop it off.  He will not return any of my calls.   

This is the second time I have used Hofer. This time they installed plantation shutters for the remaining windows on the back of the house. I chose Jim again because of his professionalism, punctuality, and the quality of the shutters. This is a very customer focused company whose word is their bond. They treated my home with respect; clean-up is great and they were very careful with some furniture that had to be moved for the installation. I would not hesitate to use their services again.

Jim was very punctual with appointments and installation occurred within the timeframe expected once the order was placed. The shutters are a high quality. I was so pleased with the overall product, implementation, and professionalism of Hofer Wood Interiors, that I am moving forward to have shutters installed for the remaining windows. I would highly recommend this company.
