We hired North Texas Building & Remodeling to install a new metal roof and a full remodel of our house. In April we gave Mr. Giles over half of the money up front for the metal roof and within a week he had our old roof removed, however it was over a month before the new roof was installed. Almost 2 weeks after our roof was removed we received over 2 inches of rain in a short period, you guessed it….ceiling in dining/kitchen area collapsed ! There was water, insulation and sheetrock covering the floor…..a big mess! Now we had no roof and the ceiling was gone in that area of the house. We received only excuses which were all lies…..still no roof ! We covered the area with sheets until our roof was finally installed several weeks later. The roof looks terrible and till this day has not been finished. On 4/24 he was to begin our remodel which would be completed in 90 days according to our contract. In that 90 days he did some demolition, some electrical and some plumbing, however a lot of the work was very poor and we are having to have redone. Nearing the end of our 90 day contract I requested to have a progress Inspection completed, it showed that 3.46 % of the remodel had been completed! At this pace it would take over 7 years! It was 90 days of hearing excuses and lies as to why he was not farther along. As you can guess he is no longer our contractor, it was time for us to find an honest and competent contractor. If you are considering hiring this company please think twice, check the company and Robert Giles out thoroughly. He will tell you the reviews and things you read about him are true !! Start to Finish. He did the wiring at the shop. I thought it was rough but just thought it is just a shop. When Robert dropped the ball and didn't finish my job I brought in a licensed electrician. The licensed electrician pointed out some things that were incorrect so my next communication with Robert is when I asked if he was a licensed electrician and the answer was no. When Robert was hired he was a turn key contractor he could do anything you asked. Never did he say he was not licensed. Next he started the garage up at the other property. The framer he had working for him was very experienced and did a great job. After that is when it went down hill. Finish out guys. What a joke. I'm not the expert here but when someone does tape and bed on sheet rock and you can see the seems that doesn't work for me. To my knowledge his son is who did the tape and bed. Enough said. It went down hill from there here at the main house. Thanks goodness he wasn't paid in full for this job. We had 4 contracts with Robert for 4 different jobs they were to be complete the last week in February. We are almost in the middle of April. Down at the shop the two story apartment. Framer again did a great job. Paid Robert the first down payment of $15,000 after framing was done came time for the next draw. He asked for it a little early because he was going out of town and needed to do payroll. Gave him the second draw of $15,000 and $4,000 on the garage at the main house. Never hit another lick. He would send a guy to work one day/partial day a week and they messed up more than they fixed. Robert had to have my house cleaned because his fabulous finish out guy sanded sheetrock in my house and it looked like it had snowed and he couldn't understand why I was upset. This is my home and I'm sorry but for it to be disrespected in that manner is unacceptable. The plastic wrap was out in the driveway. Wasn't used. I lost my cool. The longer this job went on the worst thing got. Robert for weeks didn't even come by to check on the quality of his work. For six weeks this went on during that time I lost my cool with him two more times before firing him. The last draw of $15,000 obviously went into his restaurant because he never spent another penny on materials for my job. After I fired him I went by the restaurant and told him he owed me a refund and I would go away and leave him alone. Like I said he spent my money on his personal business and never did another thing at my home. He told me he wanted to finish the job and I told him that wasn't going to happen. Robert would tell me I'm going to do this and I'm going to do that and would never show up. We had set three different appointments to meet and go over things and all three he didn't show up. He was at his restaurant working. The way I know this is because I drive by there everyday going to work. You should see the quality of his finish out at his restaurant and see what he thought I was too picky at. His finish out at my property was well below professional so no I wasn't going to allow him back on my property. When I went to visit with Robert at his restaurant the second week in April to ask him for a refund he told me he lost interest because I talked bad to him. I'm sorry if I lost my cool, but when someone tells you they are going to do something they need to do it and when I'm paying someone I expect them to do what they say. If I did business the way Robert Giles does business I would be out of business. You can take my word to the bank unlike that of Robert Giles owner of North Texas Building and Remodeling
Description of Work: We contracted Robert Giles owner North Texas Building and Remodeling to wire a metal building we had built prior. We contracted him to build a two story apartment in one end of the metal shop. At another house on our property we contracted him to build a free standing garage, put in a new door at our existing house and install a double window. I told him when he was bidding the job that I had a good finish out guy and he told me that was not a problem he could do it all. What a disaster!!!!!! Took the money and run best describes Robert Giles owner of North Texas Building and Remodeling. Oh wait I forgot to mention during my remodel he obviously took the monies paid to him from my job and put it into the restaurant he was building at the corner of Hwy 47 and Hwy 276 in Point, Texas.
