Bought a brand new system from them. Heat went out when I was on the other side of the state… they charged my wife $650 to come fix it. They sold us the entire system… we took all of their recommendations. Absolute garbage handling of this situation. Do not use this company as they apparently no longer sell quality units or stand behind their sales.

They did a good job. As good as the last time I hire them.

The work was done efficiently. The technician was friendly and professional, however, after being a loyal, high-spending, (spent between 30K-40K over the years, buying 2 Trane AC units (2017) and a new Trane furnace (2009), paying cash all 3 times), very enthusiastic customer who has written glowing, 5 star reviews twice (2009 and 2017) and recommended them to neighbors, I will no longer do business with Total Air and Heat. They had a brand new hire (2 months on the job) send me a scathing letter accusing me of being "abusive" to a few of their 30-35 employees. He said several had been complaining about my demeanor on the phone and in person for over a year, yet, nobody contacted me to discuss this. This matter was not handled in a kind, friendly, humane way. The owners could have reached out to me personally. They could have asked me to come in to visit with the dispatchers. It could have been handled graciously and diplomatically. The employees could have inquired about how I am feeling. Yet, none of that was done. I cannot, after that scathing letter, ever use Total Air and Heat again.
Response from

"We choose to take the high road on this matter. Unfortunately the situation we reached out to customer about is from multiple employees who have talked to or been at customers home. We contacted customer to advise we had a situation that needed remedy. Customer chose to react as you can see. We remain committed to providing the best service possible, as you can see she gave high ratings. We also remain committed to providing our employees a safe work environment without abuse. We felt we reached out in a manner that was diplomatic, and respectful. Sincerely Steve Lauten President Total Air & Heat Co. Voted Best A/C & Heat Contractor in Collin County"

This is a horrible company. Here is my experience with Total Heat & Air. When I first called Total Heat & Air in 2016, I had an issue with water leaking through the ceiling in the guest bedroom. They came out, looked it over and told me I needed a new piece for the unit in the attic. They were by far the most expensive but if they fixed the problem it was worth it. They replaced the piece in the attic and sure enough the leak stopped. I was very happy. The following year they came out to do “spring maintenance”. Something that was included with the work they did the prior year. The AC was cooling fine so I figured there wouldn’t be anything other than cleaning the outside unit. The Tech they sent told me my freon was almost gone and he needed to refill it. This cost wasn’t included and would run a couple hundred dollars. He also said if I wanted him to search for the leak it would cost $89 an hour for him to look for it. My other option was to have him fill the freon and if the leak was small it would be fine until the following year. The Tech filled the freon and left. After he left the AC was no longer blowing cold air. I called Total Heat and Air and reported this and they sent a second technician. The second technician was a senior technician and seemed to be more knowledgeable. He told me that the problem was my Freon had been over charged which shut down the condenser. I explained to him that their technician had been out less than 24 hours ago and told me the freon was empty so he charged it. He continued to do an inspection and low and behold he said the coil needed to be replaced. So now my spring maintenance with all cost included turned into another big project costing several hundred dollars. I found this very frustrating since the A/C worked fine until their tech came out to do “spring Maintenance”. They replaced the coil and the A/C worked again. I wasn’t about to allow them to do any more “maintenance” each year as that seemed to be a ploy to break something and generate a huge charge. So, I didn’t have contact with them again until this year when the A/C started leaking in the exact same spot that they were originally paid to repair. I called and made them aware this was something that I had already paid to have repaired in 2016. The lady who answered the phone said she could send someone out the following day but it would be $89.00 for them to come review. I asked to speak with their service manager because I didn’t think I should be charged additional fees as I had already spent over $1500 for them to repair this. She transferred me to their service manager and I got his voice mail. I left a message and it’s been over 24 hours since that message and he has not reached out to me at all. Only reason I can think of for him to not return my call is: A) he doesn’t care. B) Their service is so bad he is swamped trying to call other customers and it’s more than their customer service department can keep up with. C) They have so many repairs to make on items they’ve broken he can’t make customer service calls because he has to go repair units. D) All the above. I’ve since had someone else come take a look at the A/C. Turns out Total Heat and Air never repaired the leak. All they did was wrap the return with a ton of insulation and tape trapping the water in the return until finally there was so much water built up that it forced it’s way out once again leaking through my ceiling and damaging the sheet rock. Every review you read about Total Heat and Air will list them as the most expensive. That wouldn’t be so bad if they actually made repairs. However, in my experience it appears they don’t repair anything. They either patch issues knowing it will break down again generating future revenue or outright damage the unit creating future work. Do yourself a favor and avoid them. If they do fix your issue it will cost double or more what others charge and you will have future issues.

GREAT SUPPORT AFTER THE INSTALLATION: We had a new AC installed but there was a problem because of the air flow with the existing venting. Total Air sent out their service manager Nick to review the situation and rectify it. They modified the ducts and the AC is working great now. Always good to know that someone will stand behind their work after the job is done and paid for. We also got a rebate from the electric company, but needed some of the paperwork from Total Air. Carol was very helpful getting a copy of the paperwork required from the city and actually needed to head down to city hall since their website was down for an extended period. I have used Total Air for several years to maintain and repair my system and have always been satisfied.

Total Air & Heat did a great job with the replacement of our new unit. They also helped us resolve an issue with a bedroom upstairs that wasn't cooling as much as the rest of the area. We were very happy with their service and with the results.

Great. They were busy during the summer so we had to wait a couple of days, so we were without AC in July for a few days, including a weekend. Excellent financing options. They will extend Oncor energy efficiency incentives, which amounted to around $1,000 in my case.

Outstanding work. Sales process was great and they were the only provider who bothered to do a heat load. (other 2 just looked at existing equipment). Install crew was very good. On time, clean and professional. They had no problem explaining what they were doing (I tend to ask questions) and finished the job in 1 day (full 12 hour day). And not a single complaint from any of them. Even as they cleaned up they were very friendly and spent another bit of time showing me the system and how to operate it (you could tell they were proud of their work and it definitely shows). The system was very expensive (i wanted the top line everything) and the sales guy (Jacob) told me where i could cut corners and not make a difference (i.e. I don't need the 98% efficiency furnace in Texas - especially if my winter gas bill is under $100/month). New equipment is awesome. Cooling is amazing, there is virtually no noise and the house feels more comfortable.

Exceptional! We had numerous quotes varying in price, equipment and installation wait time. We chose Total Air and Heat because they specialize in HVAC; their installation was scheduled within 24 hours of proposal acceptance; the equipment brand, ratings and price were comparable or better than the competitors. Our comfort specialist, Jacob, was not a high pressure sales guy. He was friendly, professional and informative. Our installation crew, lead by Mike, was on time, friendly, professional and neat (they kept things clean the entire day). We had been without AC for 6 HOT & HUMID August days! Our house was 73 degrees within hours of completion. Thank you Total Air!

Made emergency call on Sunday. Came out within a couple of hours. Replaced capacitor. AC work is expensive so I can't say whether or not there is a better price for these services. Service was prompt, professional, and we have not had any more problems.

They get all "A's". Originally they used to be one of those vendors inside Home Depot that's how I found them. They were good and fair on their prices, they did good work. I just needed someone to fix the unit. I tried them, they came out pretty quick and their prices were pretty reasonable. They did good work and they didn't come up with, you know how some of these companies give you a free service call but tell you your whole world is falling apart.

They service my AC on a yearly basis and mentioned that my AC was leaking. They gave me a quote for the repair. Because it was quite a substantial amount, I got a second opinion. The other company diagnosed exactly the same issues and their quote came in almost the same. The quote from Total Air and Heat was therefor honest. The job was done well and took two men almost 6 hours.
