The The crew showed up as scheduled but for all practical purposes no one spoke enough English that I could communicate concerns that I had. It was clear that the representative had not conveyed any of my instructions to the crew supervisor. I got a hold of Don, the owner, and he came out. We went over some of the items again and he conveyed a few instructions to the crew supervisor. Once he left, I was once again faced with dealing with a supervisor that I could hardly communicate with but fortunately the installation of the drainage pipe did not take a lot of additional instructions and I was able to communicate instructions about the flower bed by sign language. The installation of the drainage pipe went very well. They sloped the drain pipe well, provided a tie-in at a downspout and installed a valve at the end of the pipe to release the water. It worked well with the exception that a plastic knockout plug was left in a water collection box and the first time a big rain occurred the drain did not work. Once removed (in the rain) the drain began flowing well and has ever since. The flower bed installation went fairly well too although I had to argue with the crew to dig the bed deeper as originally requested. I got this disgusting sigh as I conveyed by sign language what I expected. (Again a communication problem.) The crew worked hard digging the flower bed and installing the mulch. It all turned out fine although I was disappointed several times, first in the way the crew accepted my direction and second their failure to return when they said they would and correct something. All things considered, I would use them again for a flower bed or drainage pipe installation.

The crew showed up as scheduled but for all practical purposes no one spoke enough English that I could communicate concerns that I had. It was clear that the representative had not conveyed any of my instructions to the crew supervisor. I got a hold of Don, the owner, and he came out. We went over some of the items again and he conveyed a few instructions to the crew supervisor but in retrospect, it did little good. Once he left, I was once again faced with dealing with a supervisor that I could hardly communicate with. The crew did work very well together and performed the work very quickly, likely too quickly. The preparation work, which carries a separate charge of $1.50 per yard, consisted of knocking off above ground vegetation and that is all. There was no dirt moved, no leveling and for sure no tiller used. The preparation is likely the primary reason that much of the sod is dead now. However, some of the sod did go in shady areas which now I suspect was part of the problem in the first place but the original representative nor Don ever brought up this possibility. Admittedly, I am not a green thumb person and just trust the experts on such matters. After the work was completed, I noticed the ground was uneven in one of the larger areas done so I called Don to get him to take a look at it. He said he would come out but he never did. After calling him a third time and stating I would not remind him again, I gave up and decided to just write the company up on Angie's List to make sure no one else has this experience.
