They were excellent.  We got them from Angie's List.  They came out promptly and took care of the problem.  They were also reasonably priced.

Arrived within the time estimate.  Was accompanied by trainee.  Work was completed in timely manner.  Technicians were friendly and helpful.  Had to work around a failure that occurred during wash cycle.
Response from John's Appliance Repair

"Member, Im glad you are happy with our work. I appreciate the good review. Just to clarify, our records indicate that the discounted rate you were charged was 129.95 plus tax ($140.67 total), not $180. Just wanted the price posted correctly. Thank you for taking the time to review our business."

The repairman examined the unit and gave us the choice to attempt a repair or to replace the motherboard. We opted for the less expensive repair and it is working great again. I really appreciate having a knowledgeable technician able to do board level troubleshooting rather than a component replacer (lf we had used a GE serviceman they would have replaced the board and it would have been 2x-3x the cost).

John came by personally and looked at the appliance. A part needed to be special ordered, and he said it woudl be in on Tuesday. Sure enough, he came back right on time on Tuesday to replace the part and now the dishwasher works like new. I can't say enough good things about John's. I will use them again in the future.

The guys showed up on time. They examined the dishwasher and determined the problem. They needed to order the part and return another day. The next time they came, I had only a small window of time before work. They stayed aware of the time, and made sure they left on time, even though a complication arose and it meant they were going to need to return another day. They watched the time even without me asking them to! They were friendly, smart, efficient and fun to talk to.

The techinician Aaron took time to explain exactly what went was wrong, what he could do to fix it and was patient going over the better to fix or replace issue with me. Was helping a new technician and both were very polite.

John checked out both problems. Due to the age of the appliance, the company no longer stocks part for these particular problems. He stated that the upper oven is off by 40 degrees when comparing the set temp to the actual and the bottom oven calibrates correctly. He said our choices were to adjust to the lack of light in the oven and mentally recalculate upper oven requirements for temperature when cooking. Or we could buy a new oven at a cost of $1500-$2000 for a similar oven. We opted to adjust. We appreciated his honesty and advice.

John knew what the problem was immediately, had the parts with him and fixed the problem to my satisfaction. He even cleaned out ice that had lodged itself behind the chute, which I didn't even realize was there.

My icemaker was cycling continuously without making ice. I called John's Appliance and he scheduled an appointment for two days later; then the big ice storm hit. He called the morning of the appointment and said he needed to reschedule and would call as soon as possible. That was fine. I knew he had customers with more urgent needs than an icemaker in an ice storm. He called the following Monday and came immediately. He was there about an hour, replaced the icemaker and left and it has worked perfectly ever since. John was friendly, explained everything he did and was totally professional. I would certainly call him for any future need.

Called to make appt on 1-26-2011. Service person came on 1-27-2011; diagnosed problem and ordered parts. I was already pretty sure of the problem and had estimated the cost myself (online). Service person returned on 1-31-2011 and installed new parts. Cost was what I estimated so it was no surprise. Oven is now working properly. All contacts with this company were conducted in a professional manner and I would have no hesitation in using them again or recommending them to others (in fact I have given a recommendation).

We talked about the fact that it was probably going to cost more to repair the dryer than to replace it. So I ended up replacing it. They had worked on it before and they did a great job. They also worked on a refrigerator, freezer and a dishwasher for me. They are very professional, very personable and on time and really good.

I contacted John (the owner) in the morning, and he suggested that he look at the appliance to access the problem during the afternoon. He arrived within the time period that he scheduled. The refrigerator required a new circuit board, which he had to order from a supplier. The part arrived the next day, and John returned promptly that afternoon to replace it.

We were really impressed with John's. He had to tear it all apart to fix it because the motor had burned out and would not spin. I would recommend him, he was very good.

Great service from this company. They really know what they are doing and do not nickel and dime you to death. They came out with the board the second time and did not charge additional service call.. They tried the lowest cost potential fix first. Will definately use them again.

The heat element in our dryer went out on Sunday. I called first thing in the morning Monday. They were able to send someone out that afternoon. The service person called before coming out and was one time, professional, and quick. He had the needed part and made the repair. I was totally satisfied. I have no reference to rate the price however.

I went to use the dryer and when I turned it on there was a terrible burning smell and the dryer would shut off. Happened a couple of times. Checked Angies List and found John's Repair service. Left a message, they returned our call promptly (considering the holiday factor) and Aaron came out the next day. Turned out it was a lint flare up. He checked everything and cleaned out the bottom of the dryer. A simple thing for him but we were thrilled that we didn't need a new dryer. Very professional. I gave them a B for price because I have no idea what anyone would have charged. It was a lot better than a new dryer. If they are on the high side I would say you get what you pay for. They are very professional and I didn't mind having him in the house. I can't say that about most of the service people we've had. I would use them again and will pass their information along to our friends and neighbors.

Our 12-year-old Maytag washing machine had a puddle of water under & near it, the cause of which my husband diagnosed as a pump that had conked out. I first tried to set up a service call with Sears on their web site, but discovered that it would be 10 days before they could schedule a service call, & the service call would cost $129 (separate from the cost of any repair that might be performed). Instead, I found John's Appliance Repair on Angie's List & contacted John via email on a Sunday evening, giving him the make & model of my machine. John had responded to me via email by 7:30 Monday morning, then called a bit later to schedule a service call between 1-3 p.m. that day. He arrived at 1:30, & determined that it was, in fact, the pump. He had a replacement pump with him (even though he said it's rare for the pumps to go out on this vintage of machine), & installed the replacement in a matter of 15 minutes or so. This is the first service we've ever had to have for this washing machine, & John advised me to continue replacing/repairing parts on the machine until either the tub seal or the transmission goes out, as he said these were among the last of the machines that were made the "old way," & thus it's a good machine & worth keeping up & running. John was fabulous--everything you hope you'll get in terms of customer service that you hardly ever get these days, and he educated me about washing machines, which I especially appreciated. I will call him for all my large appliance repairs from now on!

I was very pleased with him, he was very honest and said that I was going to have to get a whole new appliance. He just charged me for a service call, and told me what the problem was. We bought a new one, and when we were trying to put in, and he was nice enough to give directions as to how to do it.

I e-mailed John with my problem and gave him the model number of my dishwasher. He responded saying that he would order the parts and have me an estimate the next day. He called the next day with the estimate, and we scheduled a time for him to come out to do the work. He came out and within 20 minutes I was back up and running.
