Benjamin Franklin Plumbing

Needed faucet replaced in shower. Dispatcher told us we could pick up any faucet and they would install. I picked up a faucet at Lowe's. Plumber arrived and initially told us he would tear out the tile around faucet and not replace. Then told us to get a tile person who would be able to replace the tile. Gave us Bid of around $400 (with coupon would have been around $200) to replace the shower faucet. We contacted handyman who said access panel would be better. Better to mess with drywall rather than tile. I did wonder why plumber didn't say/think of that? Handyman put in Access panel. Plumber came back out, said faucet wouldn't work (same faucet that was there his first trip) told us he would still need to rip out tile and changed bid to $989 including coupon. Seemed to struggle with plumbing problem, told me he had to send pictures to his supervisor. I asked him to leave. We called another recommended Plumber, who came out. He quoted us $337 to replace same faucet. No extra tile needed to be taken out. Work completed in a couple of hours. Over a month later very pleased with this service. I am not sure if the plumber Benjamin Franklin sent out was incompetent or if he thought he could make more $$ on the job than necessary. I was VERY disappointed and would rather give more money to a reputable company than deal with this company ever again. I am requesting a refund of the Big Deal I purchased.

There were no troubles with scheduling and they arrived right on time. They told us what wrong with one of our toilets that was leaking. The technician discovered when the remodel took place, the flange off the toilet was cut and that caused the leak. He had to take the toilet out of the ground for the diagnosis and then put it back on. The only trouble was that when mounting the toilet back, the leaking became more intense than before and caused damage to hardwood floors in my bedroom. He had put sealing around the toilet, but the toilet still leaked. There were additional costs for the work. He did clean up well after completing the job. Overall, it turned out fine.

On Time, in uniform, in marked truck, called day before, called morning of, called 30 minutes prior. preformed requested task, wrote up bill and gone within 30 minutes for a reasonable price. I recommend this company. They are professional, they respond quickly, they do what they say at a fair price and did it on 1 days notice -the day before July 4th! Bravo. After dealing with contractors for various jobs, I'd say this company is a keeper.

Please use Caution with you deal with this company: this company is trying its best to screw the customers.
My husband purchased the "$99 for a drain cleaning" on Angies List on July, 19, 2014. When I called Monday, July 21 to schedule a service, the Plano TX office people transferred my call to another location (Benjamin Franklin Plumbing is a franchise, I knew this only on July 22.) The service was scheduled from 9 am to 1 pm on July 22.
The plumber, Matt is very polite and professional. He told me that the "$99 for a drain cleaning" deal is only for Plano area and since I am in Houston, so I have to pay the regular $278!  
I am very disappointed with the people in Plano TX. I will never use this company again.

It was easy to schedule.  I used a deal from Angie's.  He was fast and professional.

It was a pleasant experience.  The technician came at the time he was supposed to and was professional.  I would use the company again.

I have a membership with this plumber and the pricing through that agreement is better than this deal.

They were very thorough and explained to me and showed me things. He walked me through the process and gave me the price in advance. They were easy to work with.

I purchased one of those deals for plumbers and I made an appointment with them and they emailed me at the last minute and said they couldn’t come out which really put me on a spot so I called you all and got the name of Benjamin Franklin and they came out right away and they were very courteous and did a good job and got the thing fixed for me.  I had to pay a quite a bit of money that I wouldn’t have had to pay if I got the first deal.  They were great and I would definitely use them again.  The price was probably comparable.

I had a good experience with them.  I have since used them again.  The technician was a really good guy and he went above and beyond for me. I felt I got value out of the deal.

He discovered that the problem was much more extensibe with out pipes underneath the slab due to age etc.  He took the time to show us what he was sieing with a camera and did a "radio" thing on our floor to pinpoint the problem.  He gave us an exact proposal detailing the costs and also explained what kind o financing.  He was very, very thorough and very honest.  His name was John. 

I do not need the service and they are happy to refund.

They were very prompt. They came prepared and you couldn't really tell they were just here, they cleaned up after themselves nicely.

The provider indicated upon arrival that this job was not within their scope. He was timely, polite, but clear that this was not something they could do.

It went very well.  They were at the home for about an hour and they sent one plumber.

There were no troubles with scheduling and no additional costs beyond the price of the deal.  When the technician came out, he completed the inspection in about fifteen minutes. He was able to repair the problem with our toilet that we had. He did provide a quote for the replacement with the toilet, but it was too high. My experience with them was okay.

Benjamin was great. I liked their reputation, professionalism and ratings. I would just recommend them based on their professionalism; that impressed me most. I didn’t want to do business with somebody that didn’t seem like they were a dependable, reputable company. I would absolutely use them again in the future.

The work was done on a timely basis.  They arrived during the time window promised and completed the work within three hours.  The quality of work was good.  The materials used were good.  They were courteous.  All of that came at a price, though.
I gave them a grade of C on price.  If I had more flexibility, I would probably have given them a B- or C+.  The reason that I gave then that grade was that the total price was $1273.  Based on the parts used, my estimate is that they cost no more than $400.  The main part was a new Kohler 1.6 liter per flush toilet.  On Kohler's website (normally the most expensive way to buy a part), the part retails for about $450.  It seems to me that it could have cost them no more than $300.  Being generous, I don't think miscellaneous parts could have cost more than $100.  The trip charge is $80, so removing trip charge and parts, the labor was about $800.  The time spent was 3 hours, so the hourly charge is over $250 per hour.  That seems to me to be very much on the high side.  I think $125 to $150 per hour would be fairly high end.
.On top of that, they high-balled the price of the alternative to replacing the toilet - repairing the existing toilet ($375).  Of course, if the hourly cost is $250 per hour, maybe it wasn't high-balled.
