AFFORDABLE FENCE CO.

I considered AF based on the positive feedback on Angie's List. I contacted Mike Whitley and asked that he come out to give me an estimate on replacing a fence. He inquired about the scope of the job and I indicated that it was small (replace 25' of fence with 2 gates, 8' fence, metal poles, cedar slats, stained) and he said based on my description he did not need to come out and would e-mail me an estimate. Mike e-mailed me an estimate that at first seemed competitive but given the lack of detail I emailed him back with a detailed list of specifics, based on other quotes that I had received, and indicated that if his quote included what I had listed the job was his, then I waited. Five days passed with no response so I called. Mike said that he would call me back. Two days later he emailed me saying that my job was to small and if it was OK with me he'd refer the job to a sub. I wrote him back saying that I decided upon him based on feedback from Angie's List and that if he wanted act as the contractor on the job and subcontract the work out I'd still consider using him but if he was unwilling to stand behind the work of one of his recommended subs (including extending any Affordable Fence's warranties to work performed by the sub) I'd chose another contractor. He called me the next morning and said he would do the job. He later wrote me and asked if I wanted the fence stained. I wrote him back telling him to look at the list I sent him a week earlier which clearly said "Finish - Stained". He wrote me back and said "Can't work for free....I'll take you off the schedule". What a waste of time.

The sales manager we dealt with was extremely responsive to the questions we had. They gave us all the information we wanted and requested. They gave great quality type of work and the fence looks wonderful. They were prompt and I liked the consistency of the company.

It went very well. He came and gave a quote. A few days later the workers showed up and they did it very quickly. I would defiantly recommend them. They were very nice and made everything to understandable.

I was very pleased with the job they did. I have to say the builder was a fantastic guy and pleasure to do business with. He stayed right to the quoted price and got the job done as asked.

They had the best price out of three other businesses from whom I got estimates. The installation by the employees went well, they were on time and respectful about being around my house.

It was a tremendously positive experience! The entire job took five days-we have a lot of fence. And, we had a rain delay on the first day. The team was professional, polite and hard-working. The fence is well constructed; it looks awesome! Mike Whitley was incredibly responsive; faster than any other company I called. Sent us to look at some other homes in our area where he had replaced fences recently. Answered all of our questions promptly. In fact, he suggested a nice cap for our fence that was significantly less expensive than the type of finish we wanted-it looks great-can't tell the difference between the two! Mike followed up promptly; everything took place exactly as he said it would. He was so easy to work with, very friendly and straightforward. We wanted to pay for parts of the work with different credit cards; he was very accommodating. WE LOVE THIS COMPANY-Mike's a great guy; we'd recommend him in a heartbeat!

Mike was a gentleman from start to finish. He promptly came out to measure, gave me the best bid out of four companies. I was even able to describe an addition to the existing footprint over the phone and he figured it right in without me worrying that we were not communicating. The work was completed ahead of schedule. There were some adjustments that needed to be worked through after completion that could have easily turned into a nightmare with a lesser quality businessman, but with Mike and Eric, his very capable crew leader, all fixes were agreed to and made on the spot, with Mike telling me, "If you are happy when Eric is done, pay him the balance, if not, do not pay him and we will keep working until you are happy". These are not words you hear very often and were certainly appreciated since time is a commodity I have little of to rectify problems at home. This company was not just good, it is exceptional. The product was great, the price was the best of four Angie's List fence companies called, the owner, Mike is a class act and is proud of the work done by Affordable Fence. I trust that he will stand behind his product. This was a very good experience. I highly recommend this company.

I called and left a message and my call was returned within 10 minutes. Mike came out the next day and left me an estimate. His crew showed up the next morning and did the repair. We are very grateful, as we have either not had calls returned or been blown off by a number of fence companies.

He was punctual. He came when he said he was going to. His workers were hard-working and efficient. He also gave me the name of someone who did the staining. It turned out OK, but I wish I could have seen pictures of some gate options.

My fence blew down in the April storm. I called Mike the next morning and even though he received hundreds of calls that day, he returned my call within the hour. He began work on my new fence two days later and he even put up a small construction fence for my dogs. Due to all the storm damage, he was working several jobs at once, so it took about four to five days to totally finish the fence, but he stayed in frequent contact with me (phone calls and e-mails) to keep me apprised of the status. His workers arrived on time, worked late and always cleaned up after themselves. The quality of work is wonderful, and I now have the best looking fence in the neighborhood. Previous to having this fence replaced, I had twice used Mike to repair the old fence. His professionalism was obvious even with those relatively small jobs. He was prompt, responsive and delivered more than he promised, on time. Although I won't need a new fence for many years now, I have recommended this company to several of my friends.

The job was beautiful and reasonably price. They did it on time. They are really good. I am very pleased with them.

They cleaned up after themselves and the price was reasonable. They also helped deal with our neighbors. They did a good job and the owner was very nice and honest.

Excellent! Mike was extremely responsive to any questions before we agreed to begin work & responding to all of my emails, usually within a few hours. Work began exactly when they said it would and the crew that came out was top-notch. Mike does not sub-contract out his crews, which I think makes a big difference. It was obvious that everyone took a lot of pride in their work. The crew also did a fantastic job of cleaning up. They raked and leveled the ground where they had dug, picked up any loose nails (I haven't found a single stray one laying around) and left no sign of their presence other than the fence. There were some small fixes to be made after the final inspection, which were all made quickly and without question.

I had fence damage during the storms in mid-April. I called Affordable Fence to get an estimate for a new fence. I called 3 times over several days. They never answered their phone. I left a voice-mail message twice with my telephone number and asked that they return my call. No one ever called.

I left a message first thing in the morning and never heard back.

MIKE ANSWERED MY QUESTIONS DIRECTLY AS WE WORKED THROUGH THE ESTIMATE. WORK STARTED A FEW DAYS AFTER THE ESTIMATE WAS ACCEPTED. THE WORK REQUIRED THREE DAYS AND PROCEEDED AS I HAD BEEN TOLD IT WOULD. THE NEW FENCE IS ATTRACTIVE AND SOLID. THE GATES ARE RIGID AND DESIGNED TO STAY RIGID, EASY TO OPEN, AND CLOSE AUTOMATICALLY.

Job was done on time. Workmanship was great. Clean up was perfect. I have received several compliments on the way the fence looks. When we had a mis-communication about the drainage issues, Mike tore a portion of the new fence out and replaced that part. Could not ask for more. Price was much less than some others on Angie's. This was my second time to deal with Mike. Both times it was good.

We decided to go with another company but Affordable Fence Company was very professional and punctual with their bid. The other company provided a very detailed bid regarding equipment to be used and work to be done. We also had quite a few addresses to look at their work prior to making our decision.

The fence is gorgeous and well built. They did hit my gas line, but the pipe was old and needed to be replaced. We split the cost of a repair, but I went ahead and replaced the whole gas line. The original price was $8,761 but he took off $450 for the repair. Mike Whitley did some extra things that were really appreciated like cut down the last bit of bushes I wanted removed. I liked the workers he sent. The gas line problem was frustrating, but I am very pleased with my new fence.

I collected estimates for this work in November, but since my neighbors were so good at minor repairs, I didn't actually get the work done until August. Nonetheless, Affordable Fence honored their estimate (the lowest of the 3 I got). I think I got a good fence at a fair price, but the process of getting it was pretty stressful. They started the work on a Thursday morning (and finished Thurs. p.m.), but left a mess, promising to return Friday a.m. I got a call Friday p.m. saying they couldn't get a trailer to cart off the garbage until Saturday a.m. They took away the old fence Sat., but left hardened concrete on my driveway/patio and lots of old nails, rusty hinges, old bolts and pieces of rotted wood all over my yard. I cleaned it up (I needed to use my yard) and sent Mike an e-mail about the problem. He called the foreman, who said that they had planned on cleaning up on Monday morning (for a job they did on Thursday). Mike cut $30 off my bill for my clean-up efforts.

The owner, Mike, returned my call the same day. He performed an estimate the following day. He never pressured me to purchase anything. His crew showed up on the day promised and was finished in 4 days. The fence they installed is rock solid and is absolutely beautiful. I was also impressed with the clean-up, it's like they weren't ever there, except for the new fence. I highly recommend this company.

The work was very satisfactory. The fence looked great when they were done and I was very pleased with the service. They were on time, friendly and the quality of the work was superb. They really paid attention to detail and I appreciated that.

The job was done very well. The fence is exactly the way I wanted it to be and the work was done in a timely manner. When I wanted to change the trim on the fence from the original agreement, Mike got the wood that day and had it installed. The crew cleaned up immaculately afterwards.
