My husband and I had been discussing ways to cut our monthly bills and one area that was a huge expense was the U-Verse service. After years of automatically tossing Suddenlink mail into the recycling bin, we decided to open one and see what they were offering. Their SL300 package with phone and internet would run about $100 less than we were paying for U-Verse. Big difference. Our teenagers were none too keen on switching, especially to Suddenlink. We set up an appointment for Suddenlink to come install their service on Monday, July 8th, between 1-5 p.m. The technician showed up about 2 p.m. He left 7 hours later, leaving three televisions with partial service, one with no service and a hot mess in our bedroom closet. The same technician came back Tuesday afternoon, July 9th, and left two hours later- one television with full service, two still with partial service and one with no service and the hot mess still in the closet. He stated that he had left messages with two of his supervisors because he couldn't figure out what the problem was and they'd get back with us. No day or time, no "Probably tomorrow", just "We'll get back with you." After this not so funny comedy of errors, we discussed our options last night. At this point neither of us had any confidence in Suddenlink and were not going to waste yet another day of them traipsing in and out of the house. My husband called AT&T to explain the situation and see if they could send a tech out to undo the hot mess. We hadn't yet cancelled our service with them, so they are sending someone out tomorrow to fix the situation. In the process of talking to AT&T, my husband also managed to get a better deal on our service- same package of channels, phone and internet for $50 less a month than we have been paying. He then called Suddenlink and explained the situation to them and they are giving us a full refund of what we had prepaid because we never got full use of the service. And who shows up at 10 a.m. this morning? The tech and one of his supervisors. I politely explained the situation, that we were not happy and we would not be keeping the service and they left. Of course, they can't come get their boxes until August 17th. Why didn't they take them today?? Thank goodness they left the phone and internet for last. That came through unscathed. Is the picture quality good? From what I could tell of the HD channels, yes. But it wasn't so good that it offset the installation fiasco. And one other thing, they did not automatically include two tuner boxes for the non HD televisions. The way it was set up, you could only watch the first 100 non HD channels on them. While that sounds like a lot, in the SL300 package, only 39 channels are HD. Should have listened to the teenagers. This review is about Suddenlink as a whole. I could not find the specific branch that handled our installation.
Description of Work: Suddenlink tech disconnected satellite service and installed cable service. Or rather.. attempted to do so.
