After moving my refrigerator from the wall in order to check something, I discovered a leaky water line. I tightened the line, and that seemed to fix it, but I was wrong. The next day, I discovered a puddle of water seeping through the other side of the wall behind the refrigerator. I called Baker Brothers, and they were able to come out the same day to assess and repair. The plumber cut through the sheet rock to find that the pipe was leaking below the valve. It's not clear why that occurred, but it certainly needed fixing. He had all parts on hand in order to cut and solder the pipes to attach a replacement valve. Unfortunately the first attempt still leaked after turning the water back on, so he reworked it, and now there's no more leaking. There was a slight misunderstanding about the sheet rock hole. Of course it was necessary to cut the hole in order to perform the repair, but I had thought I understood that the hole would be repaired afterward, but I was informed that they do not do those sorts of repairs. I will therefore need to find another way to repair the hole in the wall. However, being that the hole is located behind the refrigerator, it is not unsightly, so I can repair it at my leisure. Still, it is hard to give an "A" rating for Quality when the job is slightly unfinished, in my opinion. Total service time was about 2 hours, and I am happy with that.
Description of Work: Replaced leaky water valve behind refrigerator. Welded pipes behind the wall connected to the valve. Connected a new water line to the refrigerator.

I discovered a pool of water in my hallway caused by a leak from a failed hot water tank. Baker Brothers answered my call promptly and had a technician to my residence within an hour. The old hot water tank was removed, a permit received from the township to install a new tank, and the new tank was installed that day. I was impressed with the technician's careful installation and professionalism, the quality of the work, and the pleased that the entire job was completed within the day.

The WORST experience I have ever had with a contractor in my 12 years of home ownership. I called on a Sunday and set up an appointment for the next day at 1:00. Wes showed up on time and informed me that I needed a new hot water heater, which is what I expected. He also said that I needed a WAGS valve and a Pan "to bring it up to code with the City" inspectors. He also said he did not have everything needed to complete the job and would have to come back the following day at 1:00pm. He collected $875 and left. The next day, when they did not show up, I called Baker Bro's at 3:45 to see where they were and what was going on. They told me that someone was on his way. Pedro showed up at 5:30 (4.5 hours late) and installed the new hot water heater, pan, Wags valve and quick shut off valve. He collected another $919 when he was finished at 9:30pm. The next morning I noticed that my front walk way was stained by the rust and sediment when it was drained on the concrete the night before....and after spraying it with the hose has still not come off completely. BB scheduled the city to inspect the new water heater on Friday. After waiting for the inspector for most of the day, I am surprised and miffed that it FAILED inspection and was red tagged. When I question the inspector, I find out that the Wags valve and pan are not required to pass code. After about 4 messages over several days, I finally got Craig, the manager, to call me back. He said he would come out the following day at 1:00 to look at what was done and assess the situation. Craig did not show nor return my phone calls that day! I call the next day and craig apologizes for not getting back to me the day before. Craig does come over the following afternoon to evaluate the situation and tells me he will need to call the city to see what they want done to pass it. When I did not hear back from Craig 3 days later I again call. Another appointment is set. The day before this appointment I call to confirm, as I have already missed 4 days of work between the work, inspection and missed appointment. Craig sends out a 3rd plumber to fix the hot water heater so it will pass inspection. Well, it FAILED the inspection AGAIN! BTW, there is nothing particularly unusual about my 1963 brick rambler. There are ten's of thousands of houses in Dallas like mine. The forth plumber sent to my house was accompanied by Craig (the manager) and they managed to fix it so that it passed the 3rd inspection by the City. I was DISGUSTED by the whole situation. So the bottom line is that BB plumbers are 1) incompetent 2) don't know city code and 3) don't respect their customers time. After I raised heck, they did agree to refund a portion of my money, but their first offer was offensive and I had to negotiate for them to refund a more fair amount. Had I not demanded they make it right...this hot water heater would have cost me nearly $1800 dollars, a rust-stained walkway, and 5 days of missed work. DON'T USE BAKER BROTHERS...THEY SUCK!
Description of Work: New Hot Water Heater was replaced as the old one developed a slow leak. Baker Brothers also installed a WAGS valve, DC valve??, a quick shut off valve, a pan, and a Temperature & Pressure Release valve.

Nick B. was the Technician and the work to install my fixtures to the plumming work now secure behind and out in front of my new shower tile walls went smooth as it did before when Nick came out the first time. He is such a professional and has so much experience it's a little hard to believe but his work clearly shows how talented and how he raves about working for Baker Brothers Plumbing. I think they are lucky to have someone so young and talented working for them.
Description of Work: Today I had Baker Brothers return to my to complete the installation of my shower fixtures after a recent bathroom remodel was done on the tile in the bathroom tub and shower area. In March I first scheduled an appointment to have the shower head raised and to have some new values installed around the vanity and toilet areas along with fitting the shower for new hardware. I started a remodeling effort on my guest bathroom and these items were needed early as part of this project. On March 13th the Technician Nick B. arrived at my home wearing the protective coverings on his shoes and I explained what I needed done. Nick was really professional and well skilled at his job it was a little suprising that someone so young could be so knowledgeable but he was really sharp and his work was spot on. I don't agree with the Baker Brothers prices but this is no reflection to the solid professionalism and skilled work you receive if you select this company for plumbing services. Sometimes you get what you pay for and to have it done right with warranties maybe this is the reason you pay more at the end. Yesterday I called Baker Brothers and scheduled an appointment and exclusively asked for Nick B. to return to my home and finish the installation of my fixtures as he mentioned in March and once again I was plesantly impressed by his work and the end result, my shower now looks perfect. Nick is certainly a great representative or spokesman for your company, I would think he would be a great role model for new Technicians starting at your company.

Everyone: Do NOT go to any plumbers other than Baker Brothers!!!! From start to finish, you could tell they were proud and dedicated to the job at hand, and we threw them a doozy!!!! Not ONE of the people working on our plumbing, "passed the buck" (as they say) to anyone else. They were professional and took pride in every aspect of the job. We cannot praise this company enough!
Description of Work: We did not have hot water and it was a strange example, as the sewer water mixed with the regular water, so you can imagine what a procedure this was.

Nick came out on time and was very professional. He determined we needed a new water heater. Initially we decided on a tankless system but after my husband and I discussed it further we decided to replace it with a tank heater. Nick had already left but came back hat night and replaced the heater. He was very professional and had no issue with coming back and that we had changed our mind. About 3 hours after the water heater was replaced we still did not have hot water. Nick came back out first thing the next morning. We determined that there was a leak in a hot water line. Nick was very good at determine where the leak was and getting everything fixed. This was definitely a stressful experience but nicks professionalism and upbeat attitude help us deal with it much better.

Baker Brothers is extraordinary! If you were to Google search "awesome customer service", their name should come up first. If you've gotten use to being at the mercy of your current plumbing company, ditch their phone number and call Baker Brothers first! Just before noon on Friday, my hot water heater went out. I called the plumbing company I'd been using for years. They were apathetic and felt no urgency. They said no appoints were available that day and the soonest they could come out would be Tuesday. Five days of cold showers! I was more than distraught. Then, I recalled commercials I'd heard for Baker Brothers and checked Angie's List. When I called them, the woman who answered the phone (sorry I can't recall her name) was very cheerful and asked me how she could improve my day. I told her my situation and she said they would send someone out as soon as one of their teams completed the job they were on. Twenty minutes later I received a call that someone would be at my house in 30 -40 minutes. Within 15 minutes I received a call that they were on their way. Cody and Corbin arrived, gave me a quote and went to work. They were courteous, neat and clean, respected my house and were well prepared for the job. They completed the job in about 3 hours and apologized for the length on time it took. Last time I had the water heater replaced it took twice the time. Later that day I received a call from the same woman that booked the appointment to see if I was satisfied. Then I received a Thank You card from them. It's me who should be sending them a Thank You! Baker Brothers is not only in my iPhone contact list but is tagged as a Favorite.

I called to schedule an estimate for a tankless water heater installation. I was informed the company wanted to charge me $75.00 just to come out and give me an estimate. I was extremely taken aback, i have never met a salesman that charged somebody for his time, I wish i was so lucky in my day job. It went downhill from there. I then told them if they werent going to come give me an accurate quote, then quote me for a unit with the following parameters: 1. Outside installation on a wall that has the current gas/water connections and electrical and requires zero venting work 2. 9.5GPM Unit 3. Existing natural gas supply lines for high powered unit I was then told that basic package would cost $3,500 and include one day of work. I was floored. I can order a Rinnai 98 model with 9.8gpm flow for $1,100 delivered. I am assuming Bakers can procure the tank much cheaper than i can. After deducting $1,000 for the tank and $500 for miscellaneous parts (permit, natural gas lines, copper supply lines), that implies$2,000 for labor. TWO THOUSAND!!! for eight hours of work, if that!!!!! Thats $250.00 per hour!!!! This is ludicrous! The sales rep says they dont break it down because its unfair to. Sure...its unfair for Baker's customers to know they are being charging exorbitant rates. I am all for paying a fair market rate for labor, but $250/hour I am apalled. I wish more consumers would push back on these egregious practices.

Response from Baker Brothers Plumbing, Air & Electric
We do apologize that the member was upset with his service experience. I pulled the Job Call Information and saw where he had called in for an issue with his garbage disposal, upstairs tub draining slow and mater bath toilet. Our technicians are trained to address all of the Member’s concerns when they arrive at their home. The tehcnicians are paid by the hour and are not commissioned based , therefore, they do not have anything to gain by trying to “upsale” the service. We understand that the member can purchase the parts and do the repairs himself, for a much cheaper rate. However, we offer trained and licensed technicians that have been drug screened and background checked. We also, have liability insurance should anything happen at the Member’s home during the service. We have the best warranties around and offer 100% customer satisfaction. We are happy that the member was able to take care of the issues with the stoppage and toilet himself. We do hope that he’ll reconsider using our services in the future for issues that he can’t resolve himself.

It went fine until the new faucet that we bought was defective so we had to go to Lowe's to get a replacement part. The best thing about the plumber was that he agreed to come back and finish the install so that we didn't have to schedule another service appointment. We were very appreciative of that.

He did excellent work. He was very prompt and courteous. He did everything in a timely manner. They also called for a follow up to make sure everything was okay, which was very nice. I hired them not knowing that they were a member of Angie's List, so I don't know if the price would have been cheaper if I had known.

The job turned out to be a bit more complicated than the provider had originally expected. Codes had changed, and the new heater was also bigger than the original, so some carpentry and ducting work was needed. The provider completed all the work in an entirely satisfactory manner, kept our kitchen looking good (in spite of new ducts), and stayed within the original estimate. We're very happy with the work!
Description of Work: The provider wrote up an estimate and installed a new water heater in our kitchen. We bought the house with a 40-gallon tank installed in a complex cabinet assembly (very visible) in the kitchen, and when it failed, the provider's estimate seemed the most reasonable.

Please give me a call. I would love to discuss this issue with you. I pulled the work order and saw where we ran the camera from the roof vent to the City tie in. The technician stated that he got mud on the camera and that there may be a possible break in the line. I see where he had given options to install two way clean outs and to perform a sewer test, in order to find out what the issue was. Again, my name is Tamara and I would love to discuss this with you. We definitely want to do whatever we can to retain you as a happy customer. I can be reached at 214-324-8811, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 and 5:00.

Below is a description of a bad experience we had with the company. Since this happened, I notified the owner about everything, and he gave us a full refund, free repairs to our floor and wall, and an extended warranty. Along with a sincere apology--in person. Mistakes were made, but I must say that they held themselves accountable, and have done everything possible to try to "make it right." Here's the lowdown: After reading the reviews on Angie's List, we called Baker Brothers when we heard the sound of water running with no faucets actually on. Joe from the Fort Worth office arrived on Jan. 8 and told us he was certain it was a slab leak. Price to detect leak location: about $300 (later discounted 15% after we agreed to join their "Family Plan"). We agreed to the price, he detected the leak location and agreed to return on Jan. 11 to begin repairs. (This involves jackhammering into the foundation, digging until they find the pipe location, removing the bad pipe and repairing with new materials). Joe from the Fort Worth office, and a helper, returned on Jan. 11 and found the leak, later showing us the damaged pipe. In the afternoon, they left to ?go to the office to get some soft copper? and said they would return later. We have copper pipes, so it made sense they would use copper for the repairs. Joe and helper returned, repaired the leak (I thought), filled the hole with dirt, sealed it with cement and left. Cost for the repair was an additional $1,257 (discounted 15% due to the ?Family Plan.)? A short time later, we had the bathroom completely retiled (existing tile no longer manufactured). Three days after the retiling, I heard the running water sound again. The leak was back. I called Baker Brothers on Friday, Feb. 15 and was told they would send someone that afternoon. Hours later, Joe called and said ?It sounds like it?s coming from the same place. There is nothing I can do about it today. I will return first thing Monday.? Monday morning I received a call that Joe had called in sick. I asked if there was someone else they could send, as we were without hot water. ?I will speak to a manager and call you back. An hour later, no call back, so I called again. I was told ?I?m sorry, Joe is the only one who can fix it. You are on the schedule for first thing Tuesday." Tuesday morning I receive a call that Joe is still sick. I reiterate that we are without hot water. "Can you please send someone else?" Response: "Let me let you speak to Joe?s supervisor, Craig." I wait on hold for Craig for several minutes. I am told ?Craig is still on another call. I will speak with a manager and call you back.? Again, no call back. An hour later, the doorbell rings. It is Jonathon from the Dallas office. Jonathon detects the leak (same spot), marks the spot on the floor, and says a repair crew is on their way from Dallas. Manuel and Miguel arrived promptly, brought in the jackhammer, broke through the new floor, dug the hole and found the leak. Manuel showed me the leak and said ?I?m sorry. I don?t know why he repaired it that way.? Manuel told me in no uncertain terms that Joe had used improper materials, that he should have repaired the copper pipe with copper, which we thought he was going to do, but did not. Needless to say, I was devastated that someone would practice such poor workmanship in my home and cause such destruction. Sidenote: Manuel and Miguel were courteous and prompt. Manuel apologized more than once, which I appreciated. But that hardly could undue the damage, both to my house and my stress level. Since the second repair, as mentioned before, several people have apologized for what happened. While it is unfortunate that we drew the short straw in getting Joe and the runaround from the dispatchers, I don't think this reflects on the entire company. They came highly recommended on Angie's list, so clearly others have had wonderful experiences.

Description of Work: Plumber was very professional in every way. The plumbing installation was way over priced and would not consider using in the future due to the pricing. It was a very simple plumbing line installation for a whole house filtration and would have taken about 3 hours. I was able to get it done by a "local" licensed plumber for 1/3 of the quoted price. I do believe that the plumber maybe misunderstood the routing or what was involved in the installation but seemed very knowledgeable overall. I explained how it needed to be done but still received what was an unreasonable quote. Spent unnecessary money. I got the quote from my "local" plumber for FREE. I'll know next time who to go with.

The plumber was professional start to finish.
Description of Work: we called the plumber because the faucets on the shower were leaking into the wall. He was able to fix the issue with out doing any welding and what i was afraid was going to be very expensive and that we would not be able to use the shower. Turned out ot be very reasonable and we are using the shower still. Love Baker Brothers and Angie's list. and had a coupon for $50 off so double the pleasure.

I have used Baker Brothers Plumbing in the past and I felt that they do a very good job. They are very professional and they did what they said they would do. They gave me an estimate and they came in and got it done with very little interaction with me, I didn't need to interact with them. They cleaned up after they were finished and they stayed within the budget that they said they would.
Description of Work: I used Baker Brothers Plumbing just recently. They are on Angie's list where I got them the first time. They replaced some bathroom fixtures for me. They replaced some faucets and things like that.
