They are professional, they are pretty knowledgeable. They did quote to low of bid, they charged us more them then they quoted. They were on time and prompt.

In search for a leak, the plumber arrived and wanted to tear holes in walls that didn't contain any water pipes. I convinced him to start on an adjacent wall that actually had water pipes in it. He then told me it would be $199 to tear a hole in the wall. Then if he could determine the issue, he would then quote me on the cost to fix the leak, and that I would have to hire someone else to fix the walls. So I confirmed with the plumber that he was charging me $200 to tear a hole in the wall - he confirmed. I just paid him the $49 and fixed the problem myself... without any random holes in walls containing no plumbing.
Description of Work: Had a water leak in my laundry room. Did not hire Baker Bros to complete the job.

It only took them 40 minutes. It was extremely expensive for the quality and expertise. One of the technicians, Carry, priced the job incorrectly and he left a bunch of trash under the bath tub even though I gave him a trash can to put it in. For the bath tub faucet I asked him to put in a spray to be able to rinse the tub with cold water and he said he could do that. I had the parts and he proceeded to weld. He started the soldering of the pipes and then said it wouldn't work. When he finished with the job he could not connect the faucet and then that's when he left the trash under the tub. He wrote a bill for 827. I called and complained about the bill. The owner called me back to apologize after he heard the story and said the job had been priced incorrectly and that it should cost about 400 dollars. Mr. Baker said Carry was new and he didn't realize that what you wanted would not work until he was finished. He said he could get a new part and put it in but that I would have to pay for the part. He was helpful in identifying a place for me to look for the part.
Description of Work: They put in a shower valve and soldered pipes.

Wasted $90.00. Now I have to find another plumber or do it myself. This is a simple job that could have done for a fair price.
Description of Work: We found them through Service Magic, who we later heard will not post negative reviews of their contractors. The company called within minutes and said it would be $39.50 for an estimate. Fine, dispatch your guy. He shows up an hour early, still fine. Pokes around and say we need 2 new valve stems for the shower and it will be $331. WOW. I know that's an easy job and highway robbery, so I tell him we'll get back to him. THEN, he says it will be $90.00. Why not $39.50 as I was told? Well, he cleaned the screen on the kitchen sink. You know the one, unscrew the faucet, rinse off the gunk, screw it back on. Takes about a minute. I told him to forget about the valve replacements and he left in a huff. Very unprofessional.

Very well. They were on time as promised, and cleaned up the mess very nicely. The mess was considerable as it was necessary to break out the slab foundation to reach the pipes. The concrete portion of the floor was repaired, but not the tile. I understood the tile would not be replaced.

The technician gave my husband a price $275 and started the job. Then my husband left to take our daughter to the doctor, I came home from work while the technician finished the job. The technician then said he had to go get a different part for the tub overflow. When he came back, he said that would be an additional $209. Additionally, he left the job incomplete due to needing another part (he said). He said he would be back the next morning and take care of it. I signed off on it, not realizing he had told my husband the whole job would be $275. So we paid $479. One half by check and one half by credit card. When my husband got home he said that is not the price agreed upon - I have the original quote and my husband's signature on the $275. The tech did not show up the next day. We called the company and told them we canceled 1/2 the payment. Later the company president said he would waive 1/2 the cost. However, we still have an unfinished job.

Called Baker Bros and the gentleman that came out tested the heat from my faucets and bath, checked over the heater and told me that my problem was most likely having the heater turned too high. We lowered it, and lo and behold, it worked. Since he was at my place and there would have been an hourly charge anyhow, he looked over other plumbing issues, tub drains need replacing, a shop sink needs replumbing, etc. He did recommend I keep an eye on the heater due to it's age. I got an estimate for the other work and when the time comes to have those little jobs fixed, I'll definitely call them. The company was very good in working with me to schedule a time and they were prompt, giving me a call about 30 mins before they showed up.
Description of Work: One of my 13 yr old water heaters slowly quit working. I drained the heater myself and that showed no improvement.

During the process, they cut and placed a section of 3/4" plywood to reinforce the base area. They also installed a base leak tray and a new overflow set up that would meet the city inspection which took place a few days later. They used floor covers in the area they were working and removed all trash and debris at the completion of the job. The individual who performed the work was friendly and skilled in his trade. He was training a helper during the job. Overall, I was very satisfied.

I called three plumbers from Angie's List that advertised water leak detection and got a price from each to come out and appraise a suspected leak. The prices range from $39.50 to $125. I chose Baker Brothers based on the professionalism of the receptionist and the low price. The whole process with Baker Brothers was a very POSITIVE experience! From the receptionist who fielded my somewhat irregular inquiry and discussed it with a supervisor, to the actual technician Gregory who came out and performed the inspection, Baker's service was excellent. They even made it out the same day of my call! Gregory checked all possibilities for a water leak and assured me that the wetness of the bricks was not due to any plumbing in the house. He even checked the AC drain to see if it could be source. I felt very comfortable having a professional appraise the situation and find no plumbing leak. We concluded the wetness must relate to the water sprinkler system in someway.
Description of Work: Gregory inspected all the areas around a suspected water leak related to an exterior wall of my home. Openings had been made in the interior and exterior of the wall for inspections so Gregory was able to thoroughly inspect the inside of the wall. No plumbing leak was found. Inspection of source of suspected water leak on exterior wall of home.

I called to request a same-day estimate for replacing my old hot water heater. They said they'd send someone over that afternoon & he would call me before he left his last job. His uniform was crisp and clean, shirt tucked in. He was extremely pleasant and professional. At my request, he examined an A/C drain, although they don't do that type of work. He gave me on-site estimates for replacing old hot water heater (one with pan & one with out). The price was reasonable and under what I'd expected, so I ordered the pan as well. He called to have a new heater delivered. As he waited, he drained and removed the old one, as well as old tubing. By the time he was finished, the new one was there and installed in no time at all! The work was extremely professional and carefully done. He went into great detail to explain the functions of various parts & how to maintain/use it. I will definitely call Baker Brothers again!! (He even saved me $$ by offering a tip to save money!!)
Description of Work: Removed and hauled off 15-yr. old 50-gal. tank hot water heater and replaced it with a new energy-efficient tank hot water heater and added a drain pan at my request. Also, because old copper lines were very corroded, he replaced them with new ones (also copper). He salvaged most of my fairly new copper drain pipe. Welding work was very good.

Perfectly. It took a little under three hours from diagnosis to having the new water heater in and ready to go. The plumber laid down drop cloths from the front door to the closet in the kitchen where the water heater was and after he left you wouldn't have known he had even been there.
Description of Work: My water heater died on a Saturday afternoon and was gushing water (out the overflow pipe, thank goodness). I called and within 2 hours the plumber was here. The receptionist I spoke to on the phone had me give her the size of my water heater so the plumber could have a new one on the truck just in case I had to have a replacement. I did and within a few hours, I had a new one installed and ready to go.

Toilet was clogged and we were unable to clear it ourselves. We turned the water off but later we could hear water trickling into the tank. After turning the water cut-off as far as we could, the trickle continued. It was the day before Thanksgiving, so we considered it a possible emergency situation if the problem continued and got worse that evening or the following day, so we called Baker Bros. to see if they could come out that day. They did, very promptly, and the plumber was courteous, competent and efficient.

I contacted Baker Brothers November 1st. They set the appointment for the next day in the morning and arrived as scheduled. The plumber was courteous and efficient. We got a 10% discount because we used Angie's List. I would use the company again and recommend them highly.
Description of Work: The master bath toilet leaked water on the floor. We had a handyman try to repair it, but he was unsuccessful; hence, the need of a plumber. The plumber explained the problem before doing the work. He was able to install the tank to the bowl kit and replaced the supply line to master bath toilet. He worked for about 40 minutes. We have had no further trouble.

My initial call to Baker Brothers was answered by a gentlemen who was very helpful. He provided a lot of information on the water heaters they offered along with quotes for basic installation. I made an afternoon appointment that fit our schedule. The morning of the appointment they called saying they had a plumber available if I would like to have them out earlier. This ended up working better for us. Greg arrived promptly and discussed options for our specific installation. He wrote up a proposal that included adding the pan with drain. The installation went very well. Greg was always careful to protect our floors with drop cloths and cleaned up very well. I enjoyed having Greg in our home. He was a pleasure to talk with and I'm very pleased with his work.
Description of Work: Greg replaced our aging electric water heater and installed a pan with a drain to the outside. We needed a water heater with the pressure relief hookup high enough to avoid the need to tear into a wall to change the height of the plumbing connection. We were able to select an excellent energy efficient water heater that met this need. Greg worked to remove the old heater while Baker Brothers picked up and delivered the new heater.

I called several contractors including those on Angie's list for an estimate of work to be performed. Only this contractor and one other called back immediately and scheduled an appointment time. Contractor arrived on time and explained all that would be done. This contractor was chosen for price, but quality of materials was also a factor. Contractor stated they would start one week from that date and started right on time. Contractor uses same people for every job. On site supervisor was well experienced as was his staff. The amount of people working on the home varied from 2 to 4 for a one week period. Workers were all part of normal crew. Everything was completed on time and messes were cleaned up immediately. I thought that because they found a couple problems while they were working I would get a bigger bill, but the bill was exactly the same as the quote. Awesome!! The workers are based out of Arlington so they probably would appreciate jobs closer to Arlington.
Description of Work: Contractor removed old asbestos siding and installed new siding and trim. Also added soffit around the house.
