Protek Painting & Roofing

Quote obtained to paint exterior of 2 story (3000 sf) house and repair/replace any deteriorated fascia in preparation for gutter replacement by another provider. Jarrod from Protek provided a complete quote for the work and the price was competitive with other quotes I had obtained.  Within a few days, I made decision to have Protek do the work which included repaint of home with a slightly darker tone than existing color, paint exterior shutters, replace any rotten wood fascia behind gutters, replace wood trim around 2 front dormers, and paint front door with different color.  Project was started earlier than expected as they had a date open up within a couple of days rather than estimated couple of weeks. Timing could not have been better as I was able to schedule the gutter replacement shortly after Protek completed their work. Communication with Jarrod was prompt and he was always responsive to any questions I had.  Paint crew also asked me to do a walk through with them to touch up any areas they may have missed. There were only a couple spots near the garage that needed additional paint and they took care of it right away.  Jarrod also later did a quality check and found no issues.  We chose a dark color for the front door and it turned out great.  We had to replace a gable vent that needed to be special ordered.  Protek came out several weeks later, installed and painted it for us at no charge.  Overall, Protek exceeded my expectations in doing what they promised. I had expected some issues to come up but nothing ever came up.

My initial message was answered quickly. Kory came to the house with color chips and thoroughly covered what services would be provided. We were given everything in writing, so there was no guesswork. He was very upbeat, friendly, and professional.
Workers showed up sooner than I anticipated, and finished the work in two days. Everything was done very professionally. Plastic covered windows, and all areas that didn't call for paint were adequately prepped.
Colors were applied as agreed, and paint coverage is excellent.
Cleanup afterward was thorough. The walk-around with Kory after the painters finished revealed some minor caulk drips, and he removed them on the spot.
I highly recommend Protek.

The whole thing took about a day. They were really efficient. They were pretty quiet and everything just went beautifully. They worked with two different paints. Williams and another one that we met with them for them to give us the estimate regardless the . looked pretty nice. That was pretty cool. He took down all the curtains and stuff. They were competitive with other people I looked into.

They should be more explicit on their website that they ONLY do ENTIRE exterior painting not repair work; Person answering phone made it sound as if repair work is beneath them.

All of my contacts with Jarrod were prompt, professional, and immensely helpful.  I got a clear, detailed estimate that was far lower than the other two quotes I got, and Jarrod gave me an education about what this process would entail (I'm a fairly new homeowner and I'd never done exterior painting before).  The process of getting scheduled and underway went smoothly, and the house looks great (my neighbors think so, too).  They were very detail-oriented, and did not hesitate to fix the minor problems I found at the final walk-through.  When the owner came by the morning after they finished to haul away the trash, he grabbed a broom from my garage, and got my driveway and walk swept of the small debris left over.
Although I'm really happy with the job overall, communication between me and Jarrod and the crew was not always seamless. Rain was expected in the middle of my job, so the crew let me know when they left Wednesday night that they'd be back on Saturday morning.  They showed up at 1:00 unannounced on Friday and told me they'd be finishing the job, so I needed to be home late that afternoon.  This involved some desperate, last-minute juggling of my schedule.  Jarrod got tied up in traffic coming to the final walk-through and I didn't hear from him until an hour after we were scheduled for the walk-through.  We did it the next day, and everything got worked out, but better communication could have saved me some grief. 

Jarrod and his crew were efficient, fast, and thorough.  Jarrod could not have been more accommodating and professional.

We needed a lot of carpentry work done. It was helpful that Kory is a carpenter as well as a painter and we agreed with most of his recommendations. Amazingly, the job was completed in two days with two workers the first day and five the second.

100% re-caulk.  The brick was masked off and the windows covered with plastic before painting began (we've had other painters that didn't bother). They painted the roof vents with a dark gray to blend with the shingles. We were very pleased with the results on the front door which was looking pretty bad in spite of the fact that the sun never hits it. 

 

We would not hesitate to call Protek Painting again.

Owner was very personable and knowledgeable. He was customer focused when I heard him talk with a customer on the phone. I wanted to use his company. I never could get an estimate from him, even though I contacted his office, emailed, left voice mail and texts. I think he may have too much business.

Work was never performed.

This is the second time in 7 years that we have used Protek for major interior,painting. Kory, owner of Protek, is a pleasure to work with. The crew of 3 painters worked almost 10 hours a day to complete our job. They did a fantastic job and also cleaned up after themselves. I couldn't be more pleased with the work.

I was very pleased with the response and professionalism of Kory and the timeliness of the job completion.  My son had used them a couple of years ago and that, along with the ratings on Angie's list convinced me to hire ProTek without seeking any other estimates.  I am happy to recommend ProTek to anyone who asks.

I would not recommend Protek for any painting job.  The company is extremely incompetent.   I had to spend a total of 4 nights out of my house due to their incompetence.  And the job was very expensive for my small house.
The simple wall and trim painting was barely acceptable.  They painted the flat surfaces like cabinets and window sills with brushes which left very visible brush marks.  When I complained about this, they agreed to repaint the cabinets in my kitchen and master bath.  So several days later, they taped off these areas and spray painted the cabinets, but the person doing this failed to sufficiently sand the surfaces. They spent around 8 hours preparing the areas, but failed to actually fix the problem.  I think this is the highest form of incompetence.
Clean up was another significant issue.  The crew did an extremely poor job at clean up.  Every sink in my house had paint in it.  My countertops, bathroom fixtures, floors all had significant amounts of paint on them.  My plants outside the front door had paint on them.  I tried to get the salesman, Jarrod, and the crew foreman, Edsel, to fix clean this up, but they insisted that I had to point our every paint spot in the house.  There were (and still are) 100's of paint specs all over the house -- especially on my wood floor.  There was also paint on my furniture.  I'm still not sure I can get all of this removed.  A lot of these paint drops and strokes on my wood floor and other surfaces have been difficult to remove
The sales guy, Jarrod, tried to justify all of this, but I think I just got a bad crew.  As we all know, these companies hire independent crew of various skill levels.  I think the crew I got was very inexperienced in interior painting.
Do not do business with Protek Painting.

In this project we wanted Protek Painting to remove wallpaper  from three walls in our kitchen area and then paint these walls.  We appreciated the attention to detail that Kory Cheatham exhibited to what we desired for color selection.  He also understood the need to protect the stressed wood floors in the area to be painted The paint tint on two of the walls needed to blend well with the paint tint on adjacent walls. The middle (third) wall needed to be painted dark red, a difficult color to apply so that it covers uniformly without streaks.  The ceiling was to be left white, so preventing paint overlap where the ceiling and the walls join was important.
A two-man crew arrived on Wednesday at noon to prep the two areas for painting.  The stressed wood floor was completely covered as well as all cabinets and appliances in the kitchen.  A plastic curtain shielded this area from the rest of the house.  Following removal of the wallpaper, the crew patched all damaged areas in the sheetrock and then applied texture to the walls.  The next day, the crew arrived promptly to continue the project.  All walls were primed at this time and them two coats of paint applied to assure good coverage.  We were very pleased with the uniformity of the paint on the walls.  Where the walls joint each other and where the walls joined the ceiling, their high quality workmanship was obvious - no paint overlapping or bleeding could be detected.  After the crew removed all covering and masking material, we did not find any paint on the floors, kitchen cabinets or appliances. 
Upon completion of the project, Kory Cheatham inspected the work and then went through a detailed examination of the painted area.  We are very pleased with the workmanship of the Protek crew.  We expect to use them on our next painting project.

The service was fine. They have done work for me over the past couple of years too. It took them about 6 hours to do the 2 rooms of interior painting. They supplied the paint and I selected the colors. They went and matched it. I like that they do good work for the competitive pricing. They are quick with their service. Normally 3 painters come out and they are also very professional.

They have done a couple of things for me and they are really good. The last time I used them they painted the inside house walls and some cabinets. It took them one day to paint what they did for us. I like that they have good service. The owner comes out to give us bids personally. They use good quality paint and it lasts a long time.

We had them do exterior painting on a one story home. 6 painters came out and they finished the job in 2 days. They found a couple of rotten boards and they replaced them as they kept working. They got the paint for me and it was the color I wanted. They did a great job. They were fantastic. They were professional and did what they said they were going to do. They did have to do initial work by replacing the rotten boards, but they did fix those as they went. It was well worth it and I did get them off Angie’s List. I wished Angie’s List would let me give them an A+.

My initial contact with Protek occurred with obtaining an estimate from Kory Cheatham.  I appreciated his professionalism and attention to detail with which he explained the work to be done on our home.  The work consisted of adding guttering, repair of damaged wood around two windows and the garage plus painting the exterior trim.  When the work was completed, there were no surprises in the invoice.
We were very pleased with their approach to the project.  Prior to starting the work, Kory reviewed all of the work that would be done in a walk around the house to make sure his crew knew the scope of work.  The crew was very professional in their desire to accomplish not just a good job but a great job on the wood repair and painting.  A plus for their attitude about minimizing paint over-spray onto the brick was the use of wider masking paper for than others use.  As a result, the over-spray was practically non-existent.  Upon completion of the work, Kory and I reviewed the work done for completion and cleanliness.  When the crew left, there was no trash, spilled paint or residue of any kind left behind.  Protek's team did an outstanding job and more that satisfied my expectations.  
I was so satisfied with the quality of their work that I engaged them for an interior painting project.  This should convey that I heartily recommend Protek as a contractor for guttering,  wood repair work or painting.
