NORTH DALLAS DOORS

Our torsion spring broke on Saturday - after hearing a loud bang in the garage, we went to go check and the door wouldn't open. We chose to stay home that night since both cars were stuck in the garage and I couldn't help my husband get it open. We called Tommy on Sunday morning and scheduled for him to come out that afternoon. (He did offer to have someone out within the hour - but we weren't any rush to go out) He called on his way over that afternoon - he was very professional and had the door fixed in about 45 minutes. He also programmed my husband's home link in his car since we had just moved in recently. We are very satisfied with Tommy's work and will use his services again whether for a repair or replacement.

We have an older home with a detached garage and wanted new (old-fashioned looking) doors. The garage however, being 80 years old, was not exactly plumb and also had low overhead for the doors and openers clearance. Tommy installed the doors and openers on a Sunday, because he wanted to make sure he did a good job and was not interrupted. They are so smooth. It's exactly what we wanted.

At 6:30 this morning my wife backed into the garage door as it was opening. Like a fool i detached the bracket holding the bottom rollers since they were protruding from the track. This was REALLY dangerous because the second one snapped up due to the pressure from the cable that raises and lowers the garage door. I called North Dallas Doors at around 7:15 and left them a message. Tommy called me back at 7:45ish and said he could be there around 11. At 10:40 he arrived and went straight to work. I chatted with him as he reattached the rollers and cables, hammered the dent in the garage straight (to the extent possible), and tightened the chain on my garage door. There was NO upselling, there was NO BSing and making the problem seem worse than it was, he was early which was nice, he was professional, and he got the job done in about half an hour. At the end I asked what I owed him and he said he typically charges $159, but because I got him off of Angie's List he charged me $139. The experience was WONDERFUL and I highly recommend him to anyone that needs their garage serviced.

Called late Sunday afternoon. Scheduled repair for Monday morning (Tommy would have come out Sunday evening, but it wasn't urgent). Arrived on-time. Repairs were completed in about twenty minutes. Tommy was completely courteous and professional both on the phone and in-person.

Work was great, quick and made sure everything was done correctly. Inspected the rest of the door and made sure it was right. Tommy was quick and courteous.

Everything went very well overall. Tommy was flexible in working around my schedule, came by on the same day I called him and completed the job quickly. His price was MUCH better than the price that the company who had serviced the door previously would have charged.

Tommy answered his phone on the first ring, was friendly and professional, and arrived within minutes of his estimated time. He was fast and thorough in doing the work. He even hammered out some dings in the door. It has never looked, or sounded, better!

I chose North Dallas Doors after looking through Angie's list and noticing that many garage door companies managed to sell brand new expensive doors to the customers. This is NOT what I wanted and the North Dallas Door website actually lists prices up front so I called them first. Mr. Burt answered the phone and came over within about 20 minutes. He had the parts with him and finished the job including lubricating and adjusting the door within 30 minutes. I was extremely pleased at his efficiency and professionalism and recommend him highly to anyone with garage door problems.

Springs lost tension and the carriage stripped it's gears. Door was very heavy, but I could raise and lower manually. Tommy came out as soon as I called and retentioned the springs. He didn't have a carriage with him, but he said I could order it on-line and replace it easily myself. He said that if the springs should break in the future, it would be best to replace the old wood door (I agree... thought that was what I was going to have to do this time). I was very impressed with his promptness and "can do" attitude. The price was very reasonable.

Garage door spring broke late Thursday night, trapping my only car inside the garage. Tried to manually raise the door, but some binding at either side prevented that. Friday morning at 9am began calling companies listed on Angie's List. First called Barton because they were listed with honors and had the most number of reviews. They couldn't come out until after 3 that afternoon. Started reading more of the detailed reviews for them, and based on that, decided to keep looking. (Although they still have an A average, there were a few reviews that gave me pause.) Found this listing, and even though there were far fewer reviews, I liked what all 13 of the reviews had to say. I looked at the company website and really liked the fact that prices were listed up front. Called at 9:30 and the first thing Tommy asked me was if my car was trapped inside. When I said yes, he asked me how soon I needed to get out. Even though I told him I was home today and didn't have to get out, he was still at my house by 11. Very friendly, very professional. He quickly replaced the broken spring with two springs, explaining that it better balances the door and that I would still be able to raise the door manually with only one spring the next time a spring breaks. Tommy then spent some considerable time adjusting the fit of the door and completely eliminated the slight binding problem I had. This was more work than I expected to receive for what I paid. Really liked knowing before he even came out what sort of cost to expect. When he was here, he didn't try to up-sell me anything or talk me into extra services. True customer service is not dead -- it's just getting harder and harder to find. Tommy is one of a dying breed who understands what customer service is, what it means, and delivers it! Will DEFINITELY call Tommy first for any future needs and will personally recommend him to all of my friends.

Very live in a 1940's house in the M Streets in Dallas, and have an old detached garage to match. A spring broke recently, conveniently during the 100 degree weather string we had in summer of 2008, and thus we were garage-less. Called another company and got a quote for a new door (about $1000 since it would need custom door - odd ceiling shape), but really felt the old garage didn't need a shiny new door. Called Tommy at North Dallas Doors on a whim around 10 PM 1 night, and to my surprise he answered, and professionally told me that they provide 24 hour service. The positive impressions continued. Tommy came early (what service people come early any more?) for our appointment the next day, looked around, thought a bit, and came up with the perfect solution to make our old garage door work just fine for way less than getting a new door. He was extraordinarily friendly, professional, and thoughtful through the whole process. There is something to be said for a service professional who looks at the whole situation (old garage, why put a new door on it?) and trouble shoots for that particular situation instead of thinking of a cookie cutter response to each situation. We are huge Tommy fans. I can not recommend him highly enough.

I called several garage door companies obtained from Angie's List who were happy to give me their charges and service fee to determine the problem, plus price of parts and labor. I called North Dallas Doors, left a message and got a return call from Tommy within about 15 minutes. I explained the problem. He asked me to go to the garage and asked 4 specific questions, including was my door opener a Lift Master. When I answered yes to them, he told me what he thought the problem was, briefly explained it and told me the cost. We made an appointment for the next day. He showed up on time, replaced the drive shaft assembly and recommended not replacing the entire garage door opener assembly. He also pointed out that in a couple of years we would probably start having problems with the spring, but to give him a call when that occurred. It cost a lot less than I thought it would to fix the garage door opener and I was totally impressed with his knowledge.

It went great. He drove a long way to get here. He was really nice. He was professional.

He has done repairs for me once before and I was so impressed with his service. He is prompt, professional, fast and courteous. He is upfront in pricing and telling what is wrong and what is needed. He came over the same day and was on time. My only sad part in the whole story is that I now live in Tarrant County and not in Allen. He is above par in all categories.

I was extremely impressed with how quickly Tommy got back to me. He called me within a half hour of the time I left a message. At the time he returned my call, he was just a few minutes from my house. He was at my home within 10 minutes, and the work was completed within 20 minutes. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs service on their garage.

Called to tell them my problem, the remote controls didn't work. They told me how to fix the problem over the phone for no charge!

Called in the morning, set up a same day appointment. Rep was right on time. He quickly diagnosed the problem. Was very willing to go along with my request to try other wire pairs within the wiring bundle. Work was quick, with satisfactory cleanup when job was completed. He also sprayed/lubed each of the door wheels when checking final operation.

This was a good experience from start to finish. Shortly after I installed a new opener, the door would not close automatically. Vendor returned my call promptly and we set up an appointment window for the next day. He arrived at the beginning of the window and quickly resolved my problem by adjusting the vertical track and then checked the opener for proper operation. He was very professional and pleasant, and even set the Homelink in our van.

Wonderful. I told him I didn't get home until after 6:30 in the evening; he agreed to be there and was right on time. Luckily, I live in Allen and he is close by. I had my home warranty service subcontractor (Associated Services) finally replace my opener, but they stopped because they said my garage springs and bearings needed oiling, etc. They wanted $185. Since this company has not done one single job right yet, I did not want to pour more money down the drain. So, I came here to Angie's List. Tommy fixed this all in about 15 minutes, plus, told me what to tell the people who had started the installation of my new opener because they installed it incorrectly. Won't they be thrilled. But, he showed me what was wrong and why and gave me time to write it all down. Now, that other company better come out and finish their crappy job and re-do what they did wrong. Definitely use this company again when I need that door totally replaced.

Tommy Burt, owner of North Dallas Doors should be on the TOP of your list for vendors who fix/install garage doors. Not only did he do an excellent job, but he offered much more reasonable pricing. He was very prompt and also called the day before to confirm the appointment with me. He was very quick and in/out in less than an hour PLUS he replaced BOTH springs for less than the price of the competitors to only replace ONE. He even replaced a missing roller that came off when the door broke AND fixed the area where the wheels were coming off the track. He did all this at no extra charge. He even came in UNDER the $179 he quoted me over the phone. I urge whomever is rating the vendors for garage door repair/installation to place North Dallas Doors at the TOP of the list. It would have saved me quite a few phone calls and could help save some other folks some extra money. I cannot more HIGHLY RECOMMEND them. GREAT! TWO THUMBS UP! FIVE STARS!

Tommy answered the phone the first time I called. He said he would call me back the next morning to schedule an appt. for that same day, which he did, as promised. He arrived on time, quickly accessed the problem, explained what needed to be done to fix it and did just that. He also pointed out potential future problems and gave me an estimate on the cost to fix that as well. I'm 100% sure that I will call him for any future garage door servicing!

What a great experience! When our garage door snapped, we called North Dallas Doors and Tommy actually answered the phone late Saturday afternoon. Tommy came out and clearly explained all our options from repairing to replacing the twenty year-old door; there was ZERO pressure. When he came to do the work, he was on time, and REALLY fast! He replaced our door in just over an hour-including hooking the electric garage door opener back to the new door. When we selected our new door, he showed us all different doors, from decorative to plain. He gave us pointers on windows and the different doors; things we would have never thought about. That the door is going to be there a LONG time, so you want the exact right one. It's too bad he's not a plumber, tree trimmer, and brain surgeon; because we'd use him for everything!
