I changed the options of the fence several times and even the area fenced was modified. Originally there was only 36' of shared fencing, but I opted to install another gate and take advantage of the entire length between our houses. This increased my portion of the total, but I gained my side yard as an enclosed area (perfect for a raised bed garden).
The fence is 8' around the rear perimeter and 6' along the shared boundary (cannot be seen except from the back yards). It looks amazing when complete and the craftsmanship is very good. They pay attention to small details like the crown of the boards (so they won't curl later). Another neighbor used a different company a month ago and the boards are already curling and you can see through them in areas (not exactly what you'd expect with a board on board). Also the nails won't rust down the boards on the Hancock fence (as they are on several fences nearby). It's the little things which make the difference. Even the cleanup was fabulous... they left nothing behind for me to clean up at all.
Hancock is the most expensive of the 4 quotes I received this year, but after physically walking around the neighborhood to inspect them I agreed they were better. I received an extensive list of references from Dutch, but they were all completed within the last 6 months. All fences look good the first month or two... even some for a year. The 3-4 year old fences around me (I remember seeing them built) still have signs from the builders. Two of the companies which had quoted me earlier were refused when I inspected their older fences... they wouldn't last 5 years without major repairs. Hancock's fences were still straight and in very VERY good shape.
They referred me to another company to stain it. I'll review them too in a few weeks.

I could not have asked for a better experience. For starters, I tried to get estimates from 3 companies and Hancock was the ONLY company that responded promptly. He was able to give me an estimate within the hour based on a satellite image of my home and yard. Then he came out the very next day to discuss changes to the plan and make exact measurements. By the end of that second day I had a detailed quote along with a listing of possible upgrades. We scheduled our install about 4 weeks out but they had a cancellation so actually showed up a week early (with our permission of course). We elected to use flat head screws instead of nails and the work looks beautiful. All screw heads are perfectly lined up and using the screws added 5 years to our warranty. Hancock's website is PACKED with useful information and photographs. Hancock also hauled off some very long and heavy wooden swingset posts at no charge. And even though we never mentioned it, his men pulled out the two remaining wood swingset anchors and hauled them off as well. Those anchors were REALLY in the ground and I was pretty much figuring they'd be there forever. So that was a very pleasant surprise. He also added a pretty arch to my front gate. Hancock gates are hung on metal frames that attach to the metal posts. They are guaranteed for the the entire warranty period which in our case is 15 years. We rebuilt our old gate twice in 10 years and it was still hanging hopelessly broken when our fence was replaced. All in all it was a great experience. I really don't know how the price stacks up to others as I was more concerned with quality and service. I walked the neighborhood looking at many different builders and I am convinced that Hancock builds the best quality fence possible. Thanks Dutch!

We love our new gate. We could have spent less, but we could not have a better gate. The construction is absolutely top notch. This gate is not going anywhere. The posts are solid and don't move, the gate shuts with a solid thud, and operates perfectly. We had it installed in March and even after the long hot drought summer of 2011 the posts are still perfectly plumb and straight. Even if the posts eventually shift a little, the gate hangers are easily adjustable. Several neighbors have stopped us and commented on the appearance of our new gate - it really does make the front of the house look better. We liked working with Dutch Hancock, and he got the job done when he said he would.

I liked their professionalism and they guaranteed their work. They said that they would cover the cost of getting anything repaired if they hit any underground lines. I was impressed with them. Most of the fencing companies are expensive.

Hancock did an excellent job with our fence installation and I would highly recommend them to others. I selected Hancock based on user reviews and also because of the detailed information provided on his website. Hancock has a great online estimation form that gives you a quick estimation of the different options and cost. This provided a close enough estimate to determine what options would fit in our budget. This was very useful for us as we've never had a fence installed before and was unsure how much it would cost. I then called for an on-site evaluation. Hancock showed up exactly at the scheduled time. They measured the fence line and we discussed adding a retaining wall at a part of the yard that had a slope. I received the detailed quote later that day and decided to go with Hancock. I was also installing a swimming pool and Hancock worked with me to coordinate the fence and pool build out. We built the fence in two phases - first was the majority of the fence excluding a portion so the pool builder could have access to the backyard. The second phase was the complete the front portion + gate and the extension around the pool equipment once the pool completed. Hancock was very easy to work. Hancock completed my fence very quickly. For the first phase, they started on a Friday and worked Saturday to finish. The quality of the work was very good. I was especially impressed with their installation of the metal posts. They dug their holes quite deep (had to be at least 3 feet). The overall experience with Hancock was very positive. The work went according to schedule and the quality was excellent.

Could buy two fences for what he charges for one!

After receiving estimates from many fence companies, we chose Hancock Fence for their responsiveness and attention to quality. Because our fence had blown down many times over the past 11 years, we wanted the new one to be built to withstand just about anything nature throws at it. Hancock Fence builds that kind of fence. I emailed Dutch for an online quote, which he responded to within an hour. Then, when I emailed him a few more times with questions and changes, he responded just as quickly and politely. On the first day of installation, a neighbor asked to have a part of their fence replaced "while you are already here." Dutch politely accommodated the request. When we asked to put in an additional gate, Dutch worked it into the fence line. And even though the crew had to hand-dig almost every post hole to get through rock, they held true to the 36" post depth promised. Ryan came by each day to check on the job, and after the crew finished the fence, Dutch inspected it with us to get our feedback. Each option comes with helpful bubble text to describe the option in detail. Very professional and very slick. Once we decided to go with Hancock Fence, Dutch took care of the rest. All we had to do was sit back and watch the old fence disappear and the new fence appear. It was a great experience, plus my kids loved watching the crew build the new fence.

In a time where customer service is regularly non-existent it was very pleasing to my wife and I to deal with a professional company that performed the work on schedule, kept the work area clean daily and communicated every stage of the process daily.
