Builders Carpet and Design Center is a third-generation family company serving the Dallas Metroplex since 1982. We have proudly provided flooring including hardwood, tile, natural stone, and carpet to many of the area’s most prestigious builders and retail customers. In 2001, we saw a need for quality flooring to be offered in the East Texas community leading us to open a store in Tyler. This allows our customers to purchase quality flooring and outstanding service without traveling to the closest major city. Our most popular floor covering is solid hardwood. Builders Carpet offers a generous selection of oak, hickory, and maple in the latest color and styles as well as producing textured hardwoods to suit any client’s taste. The tiles guys were a "no-show" as we waited day after day. They finally showed up 3 hours late on the 5th day. They proceeded to install the bathroom tile with a hump in the middle of the floor. When I complained, they said that I said that it would be alright since I was planning on selling the home. They had to tear it out to re-do. This time the tile was angled to the right. Both very obvious to the naked eye.
This project was a NIGHTMARE! They left trash in our front yard under our tree for days. When I wrote a letter to the manager, Jason Goodwyn, he responded with a rude letter in return. He apologized for "inconveniencing me". When my husband called him to discuss the issues, he said that he would not talk with us anymore about the issues. I filed a letter with the BBB and Mr. Goodwyn responded by saying that I was trying to extort money from his company, because we asked for a discount due to the many issues and we asked that they replace the thresholds as they had told us that they would.
We dealt with this issue on a weekly basis from 3/10/14 - 5/5/14, when finally a phone callto Builder's Carpet was answered by a female office manager agreed to assist us with our problems. They sent the man who put the laminate down to repair the baseboards and we received a check for the cost of the thresholds. We did not receive a discount for all of the problems we encountered. I would NEVER use this company, nor recommend them to anyone.

Their very nice showroom is nearby so I made several trips to pick up more samples. They have so many to choose from. I was pleased that their bid was a bit lower than one company and quite a bit lower than the third. One of the companies lowered their bid to be more competitive but I still felt more comfortable working with Gayla and Builders Carpet.
The installation team was polite and easy to work with for the week it took to complete the work. The floors look great and I can't find a single place that should have been done differently. All of the new shoe molding and baseboards match existing and they even touched up some nicks that were there before they started. One company said they did no painting so I was happy Builders did it all.
We found one small issue with the threshold to the garage and they were out here immediately to fix it. If I had to pick one area for improvement it would be cleanup afterwards. They left a lot of sawdust by our front door and dust from from their vacuum by the garage. Minor points in the overall scope of the huge project but the sawdust shouldn't be there. I would rehire again without hesitation and recommend to anyone.
