They are good and got my stuff fixed. He charged me for the parts and labor. I got several quotes from different companies and they gave the cheapest quote. I am moving, so I am not going to use anybody in Lubbock.
I dropped my car off on Monday, February 28th, and returned at the close of business on Friday to see the progress over the week. My car was in the same parking spot I had dropped if off at 8 AM on Monday, and had not been touched. I asked Roy (the manager/owner) what had happened to the entire first week. Roy said that their body-man had a heart attack and was out all week. I told him not to worry, push it back a week and let me know.
So this should put my car to be finished in 3 weeks.
I went back end of day Monday after the weekend, still no progress. I went back Tuesday and some of the work had started. Thursday I went back before I left out of town and a good amount of progress had been made. I was supposed to pick the car up on the following Thursday when I returned from my trip. I leave town, and drove back early Thursday morning so I could pick it up before close of business. I arrived Thursday to find the car in the exact same condition as when I left it Thursday when I left town. Friday had brought no progress. I went back Saturday (because they are open on Saturday) and it was closed, no one there. Three weeks in hope is fading.
So I go back to meet with Roy on Monday, he says I can have the car back on Friday... Monday to finish body work, Tuesday to prep, Wednesday to Spray Primer, Thursday to paint, Friday to finish.... I returned Tuesday, no progress was made at all Tuesday, the same story Wednesday. I told him on Friday I would pick up the car whether they were finished or not. I returned on Friday to pick the car up, and they painted it the wrong color!! I was furious! No apologies were made. I told them I would have to think about it over night, and would let them know Saturday what to do.
I went up Saturday morning after cooling off. I tried to get copies of all the work orders which included the drop off times, the quoted delivery time, the color, etc.. Roy's son (who works there also) would not let me make copies of anything. And was upset when I took my camera phone to take pictures of the work orders. He was not helpful and very disrespectful.
I ask Roy how long to get the car back, he says a week to repaint. He says he will not cover a rental for that upcoming week. Roy offers me 200 dollars back if I'll take the car as is... He apparently believes it is fair to pay a business 2100 dollars to paint your car the wrong color and take 4 weeks to do so.
I spoke with a lawyer early Monday morning, He was out of town til Wednesday... so we set an appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
I was advised to tell Roy to start the work to paint the car the correct and in the originally agreed upon color.. I meet with Roy Monday morning immediately after calling the lawyer, and instruct him to start repainting. He is very short with me, not at all apologetic. Asks me, "What do you want??" I told him I wanted to have my car painted the correct color, and that he owes me a rental for at least this week while they were repainting my car. He finally after much debate, agrees. He will not refund any of my money, and says the car will be ready Friday.
I receive a call on Thursday to pick the car up Thursday afternoon. I go to inspect the car, and they had not repainted the underside of the hood or trunk in the new color... I tossed my keys back on Roy's desk, and tell him to fix it. I am not even mad by this point, I am just disappointed. I have no fight left. He told me he would fix it.
Finally Monday, April 4th... My car is finished. I am left with a terrible taste in my mouth. I told him the car looks good, I would never recommend this place to anyone. And, would in fact do the exact opposite, telling anyone who would listen how crappy of an experience this was.
My car was gone the entire month of March. 35 days in total at their shop.
"sorry about that - sometimes death disrupts a small business - especially when you lose key personnel...Our normal turn around for a repaint is 5 days. Older cars usually take a minimum of 30 days. WE are an approved Direct Repair facility for GMAC Insurance, Hertz, Avis/Budget, PHH Leasing, Arval Leasing, Innovations Group, Lease Risk Management Services, AQE Insurance and others. Wish I could have done more for this one...Owner Sheila, Roy & Dan Seay"
