This company manufactures iron doors and uses an outside group to do lighting, but they measure and make sure everything goes smoothly. We loved what they had in the showroom for coach lights and decided to order for our new construction home. Sadly, our experience was pretty terrible. When we ran into planning/positioning problems for the gas lights, and subsequent install problems, the owner was very combative. He would not even entertain our request to have a meeting at our house with the lights and our builder to get a visual on the problems we were having. He instead chose to ignore our calls, and emails requesting that we just meet at the house with the lights to figure out a solution and get a solid visual on how we could best tackle the problem. We simply wanted nice looking lights on our house, and to put our heads together to find a solution. Too much to ask? Apparently so. When we had no luck reaching him for what seemed like weeks, we got an email from him stating how inappropriate it was to contact his fabricator and telling us how disrespectful that was to him and his relationship with his fabricator. We only contacted the fabricator b/c the owner was ignoring us, and the fabricator has his own website with contact information. We were hoping that the fabricator might at least have some good solutions for us since we were under a time crunch. Throughout this entire process, we were never able to get the owner and the fabricator out to our house with the lights. They ended up doing a patch for us on the light (that our builder paid for) to cover the holes at the top. However, after the light was installed the second time - the patch was too short and the holes still showed! Now we had damage below our coach light and above. Not to mention these lights sat so incredibly low that no matter what patch we did, it would not have looked right. Again, something that we could have avoided had the owner agreed to meet us at our house with the lights. It would have been obvious if we could have seen the lights at the house. Otherwise, we were just taking a shot in the dark and hoping it worked. We eventually ended up getting a refund for the lights which was great, and purchasing lights elsewhere. This company just didn't seem to want to help us find a solution and gave up after the second install. It was a pretty ridiculous experience looking back, and to date have yet to experience such poor treatment from any other company. This owner is insistent that he not speak to the customer except through the builder, but he had no problem speaking to us before we purchased the lights without our builder - taking our money - and trying to sell us a door to boot. Funny how when we ran into problems we were ignored and he justified it by saying he could only speak to our builder. In the end, we found a different company to do our lights. We spent a great deal more but if we had to do it all over again, would have skipped this fiasco and saved ourselves a great headache and damage to our cast stone from so many failed install attempts. *Wanted to add that M2 metals made one revision to our coach light, not 2 like it reads on his response. It was a metal backplate that fit over the top to cover the holes on the cast stone. It was a single sheet of metal, that when installed, was too short to cover the holes. This was paid for by our builder. There were no other revisions b/c the lights were refunded. We also know that the fabricator was out to measure, and our builder moved items based on that initial measure. I have emails documenting such and revision pictures. Thanks!

I am the owner of M2 Metals and my name is Michael Moore. I appreciate the time you spent detailing the entire transaction. There may be a few things that either you are unaware of, or that might need clarification. You came to our business as a customer of Garbedian Homes. My contact in this transaction was Garbedian Homes. I understand that you were the ultimate customer but you contracted their firm for their management of the details. On more than one occasion I was instructed by the owner of Garbedian Homes to only speak with him. The reason he told me will remain private between he and I. They paid me to fabricate the lanterns of your choosing. We built the lanterns you selected and best I can tell from your letter we both agree on that. The order was placed and over the course of a few months your home was ready for the installation of those lanterns. Awesome, we included that in the price. Best I can tell we agree on that as well. Where we don't agree is in your very first sentence of your complaint. M2 in no way was ever responsible for the location of the plumbing or electrical lines. Our job is to fabricate and install them on your home wherever those lines are placed on the home. After 20 years of home building myself, I would suggest that the builder, plumber and the electrician control those locations. I would also suggest that the owner compensates the builder to manage those subs in coordination with each other to place the location of those lines. If a ceiling fan is not placed in the center of a bedroom is it the guy who made the fans fault? I have no idea what the builder was telling you but the idea that we made the decision of location or managed anyone in that regard is just wrong. The design and drawings of the lanterns were sent at time of order and we built exactly that. All the information needed for this job to have a successful install were included. We went and installed them as instructed. Evidently the coordination of gas line, electrical line and pre-cast design did not work out. So at your builders direction we went above and beyond and rebuilt the lanterns again based on information provided by the builder ( at NO cost to you or the builder ) and they still did not fit. Because I strongly felt you were misguided in the facts of the transaction ( and I still feel that way 1 year later ) I decided to refund the builders money in it's entirety. It was the right thing to do and we did it. M2 has been in business for 10 years this month. We are not perfect but I have hundreds of appreciative, happy customers.
