Response from Handy Hank Handyman Services
Unfortunately I sometimes have difficulty maintaining my civility when someone takes a shot at my age and my abilities across the internet without having the courtesy of contacting me first. No one likes to receive a negative review...and I am no different, but there are several things about this review that puzzle me and I have several questions. 1. The wife called me 7 months ago and asked me to install 2 ceiling fans and 2 light fixtures. When I got to her house, her husband was there. I told him that because of the height of the ceiling that I was not comfortable getting on my ladder to install the ceiling fans. He said that was OK and that he could install them if I would help. I did and he did. My question is...if he was capable of installing the ceiling fans, why did the wife call me to do the installation? 2. I installed the two heavy hanging light fixtures in the kitchen area where the ceiling was not quiet as high. My question is...if the husband was capable of installing the ceiling fans then surely he was capable of installing the light fixtures. Why did the wife call me to do the installation? 3. In her negative review, the wife notes that "I don't want this posted". If that was her thinking, why did she send the review to Angie's List? 4. She makes reference to the fact that 'he isn't capable of handling any sort of handyman type work". If anyone would take the time to read my other reviews, I think they will see that her statement is completely without merit. 5. I meet a lot of people over the course of my work and sometimes it's difficult to match names with faces. I do not recall ever meeting this person, but in her review she says "this man was so old he isn't capable of handling any sort of handyman type work". To make those two assumptions without ever meeting the person that you are referring to is as preposterous as me saying that she was an old woman who could not manage her household (which I am not saying). I received this review yesterday...7 months after the work was done. At no time during the past 7 months has the wife or husband said anything to me about the quality of work that I did or the amount that I charged for the work ($130 for 4 hours of work). We contractors know that we are never going to satisfy all the people all the time...and this appears to be one of those times. If the wife or husband are now dissatisfied with my work or charge, all they have to do is contact me and I will gladly send them a check for the $130 and will even go by their house and uninstall what I installed. I await their direction.
