He spent 22 weeks trying to complete the job which should have only taken 12 weeks. We paid more than what we agreed on and ended up paying him 11,000 more than agreed upon. The staff were friendly and we got along with them until they quit coming over. They loaded everything up and left. They cut off all ties and contact. They did not complete the job. We had no air conditioning when they were suppose to add air conditioning and the temperature was in the triple digits. I would not recommend them to a friend. They try to blame us that we tried to keep changing things, but this is an old house and we didn't change much. He always agreed with us on any changes we made and he said not a problem. He said whatever makes you happy I'm going to do it and he was paid for it.We filed a complaint through the better business bureau. We had to go court and file a law suit to get our money back. We won our law suit and haven't heard any word from him or got our money back.
Description of Work: I used Dreamwork Building and Remodeling. They made an addition to our house.I was supposed to get central heat and air but didn't receive it after we had paid for it. I was suppose to have a kitchen and bathroom remodeled. The tile work was not completed nor the plumbing. The underpainting was not completed as promised. He built our kitchen cabinets. The cabinets are substandard and are not finished.

Project was to begin June 1st and take no more than 4 weeks. We moved out of the master on May 31. Didn't show until June 3rd. The demo went okay (everything demo'd down to the studs except the closet). Ty and/or his crew didn't show until 9:00-10:00 a.m. each day, took lunch hour and then were gone by 2:00-3:00 p.m. The reconstruction was where things began to slow down. Each day, a "little bit" of work would be completed. Then on June 27th, after his draw the day before, which brought his total payments to 80% of total bid, he had to leave town on family emergency to NY. He indicated he'd be gone a week, maybe two. We were understanding and agreed to wait. Ty didn't return to work until the 4th week in July when he started tiling the shower walls after removing the tiles his helper started...the helper appeared to have little to no experience tiling. We had to stop the helper after the first two rows of 12x12 tiles. The shower tiles were a basic pattern. It took nearly the full week for Ty to tile the shower area--still no grout. While he was tiling the shower, Ty had a helper paint the newly textured walls. The paint did not adhere to the walls and is peeling off. When we asked why it wasn't sticking, the response was "I don't know?" and a second coat was applied. It appears the walls were not primed properly. The paint pulls off in sheets. On Sunday, August 4th, we fired Ty Good and let him out of the agreement after he didn't show the week of July 29. We continually had to track him down, either by text or phone to get an ETA, status update....On That same day we asked for materials that were to be purchased with the initial payment and were not on site. He offered to provide cash which told us that our materials were not purchased as indicated. We still are not in our master bedroom/bath. We now have to contract to have the walls prepared (again) and painted, the closed finished, the pocket door and hardware purchased and installed, French doors purchased and installed, bathroom double vanity purchased along with top and sinks, floor repaired and hardy backer installed, porcelain tile floor installed, shower tiles removed and installed correctly in problem areas (there are many too), trim work and doors finished/painted. We purchased the light fixtures, ceiling fan and hardware for cabinets and doors. Ty did have the electrician come out and install the lights, ceiling fan, outlets and switches. However, Ty had not provided enough of the right receptacles so an electrician will have to come back to correct that problem and install the can light in the shower. The exhaust fan was vented to an eave vent, which is blocked! We will have to contract with a plumber to install the shower fixtures, reseat the toilet and plumb it, plumb and connect the vanity sinks. The area was tarped off temporarily; however, that came down and our furniture, bed, etc., are covered heavily in construction dust and dirt. We had covered everything with sheets, however with the heavy duty fans they ran, the dust was EVERYWHERE. The carpet was covered in the hallway, but not the master bedroom. We will have it cleaned, but are fearful it will have to be replaced. Mastic has made its way onto the carpet in several spots. In fairness to Ty Good, he has had many personal issues come up during our job. However, he didn't have a crew in place that could come in and take over. He is a nice guy. We got his name from a friend?s son that he'd done work for in the past. Their comment was that they had to stay on him daily to keep him on the job. We discussed that and he assured us that wouldn't happen. Many of the issues that came up were issues we discussed in our initial interviews with him...like working a full day, communication as to "what comes next", etc. The list goes on. There were no issues that came up during construction as to the condition of the house. We will not call him again and cannot recommend him to anyone. The sad thing for Ty is that our neighbors on both sides had wanted him to do remodel projects for them. And a coworker of mine wanted her bath remodeled too. I wish we could have given Ty Good and Dreamworks a different review

Just wonder what other problems we are going to find.

In 2008, I hired this contractor to replace an existing porch and roof with a new wood deck and roof. The owner of the company offered an unlimited guarantee on his work, and claimed that if anything ever went wrong he would return to fix it at no cost. This was one of the foremost reasons he was hired for the job. When he was hired, I made it clear that I expected that the roof would not leak, and he agreed. The work was completed, and it seemed all was well until the roof of the porch began to collapse about 18 months later. The portion of the porch roof that attached to the fascia of the existing roof began to separate and sag. I contacted Dream Works, and the contractor agreed to come look at the roof. After inspecting the roof, he propped it up with 2x4s to prevent it from collapsing, and agreed to fix it. The edge of the porch roof had not been properly attached to the existing roof; most of the nails that were supposed to hold it in place were not nailed into heavy lumber, they were only nailed into the trim. He did a very sloppy job with the repair, leaving large gaps between the fascia and the soffit in several places. He claimed this was the best he could do. After this repair was completed, the roof began to leak and has leaked continuously ever since. The contractor made several trips to repair the leaks, and never succeeded. The underside of the roof has suffered extensive damage. The soffit and the fascia on the outside edge of the roof are moldy and in places have completely rotted. This is due to the failure of the contractor to seal the fascia properly to prevent damage. At present, I have given up trying to get the contractor to repair the roof, and have begun contacting other providers on Angie's List to repair or replace the roof. This contractor does not honor his guarantee and does very poor work.

His came out and measured for the tile and gave me a typed up estimate on all the work. He started on the day he said he would and worked all day, He is good about keeping his word and only working on your project. It all looks very professional and I had no complaints with he work at all.
Description of Work: Ty completely rebuilt my shower in master bathroom, and then tiled shower, floor, painted cabinets, put in new fixtures and painted both bathroom and master bedroom. He really gave me good advice about the tile to get for the best look. I can't say enough about the beautiful job he did.
