CertaPro Painters® of West Houston

our house took on water after Harvey after having sheetrock installed and the joints were taped and prepped for texture and paint. I gave CertaPro painters of west Houston three chances using three different crews and each experience ranged from appalling to unacceptable. The first crew protected nothing in my home and began priming my custom built cabinets on my tile with no protection and tried brushing my cabinets vs spraying them the only thing that crew did right was paint the ceiling in my living room. The second crew presented an inability to properly match textures and an inability to evenly coat my cabinets on what I was told was their second and final coat ... paint was running, my cabinet doors stuck to paint cans, one of my custom drawers was used as a paint stand for a full size room door, they sprayed my black island drawers next to a completed wall and trim thus resulting overspray on the wall and trim because they did not put plastic up to protect the wall, and many other paint coat issues such as colors not matching and poor coating of trim. The third crew looked like it was doing better but had orange peeling issues, used high gloss after I told them multiple times not to, had uneven coating issues, and simply did not understand English well. I contacted certa pro corporate after the second poorly preforming crew whom of which I can only assume cannot do anything because I have been treated as if i am the problem when CertaPro west Houston simply utilizes crews that do not have strong skill sets to complete projects they signed up for in an effective and professional fashion. The owner can be condescending, the manager is presumptuous, they over promise, they under deliver, and their crews are low tier. I strongly do not recommend them.

The rooms look great. My all inclusive price was a good deal. The workers were professional and the job was finished as promised. I would use them again.

Mike gave the estimate and it was competitive with the other quotes I received. The difference was that he seemed genuine that his company would do a good job. Lauren coordinated the scheduling and the follow up to make sure we were satisfied. Janette and her crew did an excellent job and when they were through you could tell they had been there except the house looked really good.

One painter showed up as scheduled, his co-worker would arrive after doctor apt. He was not clear as to what the job entailed, did not have a tall enough ladder. No paint no paint chips, etc. (I do believe he had a paint brush). Called the owner to straighten things out. Things were going down hill fast and then crashed completely when I was told the "no tall ladder" problem could be solved by tying two ladders together. Needless to say they were invited to leave. I had read some bad reviews for this company but was told they were reviews were when a previous owner had the franchise. My feeling is this new owner has some problems to work out.

The first phase included painting the first level walls and was to include minor repairs to the walls, including patching nail holes and small cracks. 
The contractor was too lazy to handle the details and basically just wanted to paint. The franchise owner walked through before the job and provided a written, very detailed estimate. Unfortunately, if it wasn't on the estimate in total detail, then it wasn't done.  This included not bothering to remove wall plates or small nails in the wall or even using tape to prevent over-painting of areas that were not to be painted.  Repairs to cracks were minimal.  I ended up hiring a drywall specialist to do a better job. 
Painters were extremely unprofessional and left trash in the house after the job was done. They also washed their tools in the yard and left a mess of paint in the grass and did not bother to turn off the hose when done so water ran all night long when I finally discovered what happened. 
The painting itself was awful. They used brushes where rollers should have been used. They actually painted AROUND the nails & hooks in the middle of the wall. They did not prep correctly. Paint was left on the furniture and in places that were not to be painted. Oil-based paint was used where latex was designated, and vice-versa. Window panes had paint on them.  
After a discussion with the owner (and the threat not to pay), he sent his crew to correct most of the errors. 
I gave them a second chance in doing the simpler second floor interior. Oops....probably shouldn't have done that. 
The pigs left empty bottles in the rooms they worked and again, furniture had paint on it. They did not cover the furniture properly. Every edge was hand-painted with no tape or guides. And it shows. And the water was left, again. 
If you want a cheap painting job done by guys hired from behind the Home Depot, here's where to go.  Won't make this mistake again. These guys don't know the right tools to use or how to use the ones they have. Painting is NOT just about changing the color on the walls. It's about making an overall improvement to the room(s). I had to work to get these guys to understand this basic principal. 

The estimate was thorough and complete.  We received a number of options for multiple coats of paint, additional trim work, etc.  Although the price was slightly higher than a couple of other estimates, we were impressed with the professionalism and flexibility of the CertaPro team, and decided to go ahead.  They finished the job quickly, and even performed some additional work to touch an area of the ceiling in the kitchen that had minor water stains.  Cleanup was well done...you would not have known the painters were there, but for the fresh coat of paint.  I would definitely use CertaPro again in the future.

I purchased the home from a smoker and it smelled and had soot stains on the ceilings.  
The owner of Certa Pro Katy - Jason - was extremely professional and knowledgeable in how to correct this damage using the correct types of primers and methods. 
They were prompt, cleaned up after themselves, and left all the different color paint cans for me with labels for each room.  There were just a few minor quality issues which did not bother me given the amount of work they were doing, and they quickly corrected the items.

Just FYI - the listing says they hang wallpaper, but they do not.  Jason came and measured and was up front about not having hung paper recently, though he would see what he could do.  They did not follow up by email as promised, even when I phoned to follow up a week later.  This is why they should change their listing to wallpaper removal only to match their skill set.  I would not have contacted them if it hadn't been listed, but I might contact them in the future if I wanted painting done or paper removed.

They showed up when they said they would, worked all day, and were eager to make sure we were satisfied. Jason was accurate in his quote and we appreciate that.

We were amazed at how open and airy our Kitchen and connected Family Room were! We had bold colors previously that narrowed our rooms. They were on time and did a great job the first time. They even took before and after pictures. I'm not sure if they posted them but we were impressed. I'm looking into using them again soon. I don't remember the date they came out but it was within the last three years. I'm sorry it took me long to post this review. They are so worth a try. They have a colorist who can come out and help you pick the right color.

They charged exactly what they estimated before the job. Very good at daily and final cleanup.

I would say that they are okay, but I would personally never use them again. They had to come back out because the caulking they did do was very sloppy so we made them come back out & redo the it. The owner said he was going to come out & take a look at it & we haven't heard back from him since. The only time we talked to him was when we made the appointment. He came out to give us an initial quote & he was on time & very professional so we thought that this was going to be a good experience. Then he sends a crew out to do all of the painting which they do, but we noticed that the caulking looked like crap. He said he'd come out with one of his head painters to redo it. We were expecting him to come out with the painter like he said he was & he did not. He has not called to see if we were satisfied or to thank us for our business.
