Started off great and ended up poorly. We hired Kilgore Remodeling on 11-2021. Contract stated project would be completed within 12 weeks. We did add a few exterior projects but no projects inside that should have taken months longer. Finally, 24 1/2 weeks later, we decided to cut a final check. His crew did some great work. However, there are some workmanship defects & results we were left with. -2 electrical outlets were installed in the wrong place. -We ordered WHITE rock as filler behind retaining wall. He ordered gray without our ok & then stated he would change it out or overlay the gray with white rock for more $. -A vertical exterior pipe to house electrical wire was left open & now has collected rain water in it. -Contract specifies all drawers installed would be the soft close drawers but he didn't. -He took all of our belongings out to our shed without our ok. Now he refuses to bring them back in without charging more $. Being senior citizens & handicapped he knows we are not physically able to retrieve them. Removing our items to the shed ruined our king size bed set, both twin mattresses & our 2 recliners. Most, if not all, of our pantry items are surely ruined. -He gave out our home key to sub-contractors unsupervised. -He installed our Ring doorbell & helped install the program. When setting up the perimeters from our home he emailed the following to us along with some added bogus charges to a statement..."Since the installation of the ring security system, it has been made increasingly clear that me and my crew are being watched, and private conversations have been listened to. Based on this, my entire crew is now extremely uncomfortable working at your home. I feel that we have formed a relatively strong trust level throughout the process of remodeling your home, therefore, during construction, I request that the microphones and cameras be turned off, to be turned back on when the crew leaves for the day, and operation verified with you before." "Private conversations"? At that point I became curious enough to go back to review to see why our security system was suddenly an issue. Those private conversations must be the discussions where his crew talked about all he did wrong & how they had to go behind him to fix things. Video showed days no one ever even showed up to work. When confronted about the bogus charges he admitted to adding them out of anger. Anger? He then removed them after I told him we would see him in court before we paid those. Yes, we had to seek legal council wherein we learned that "in Texas there is a 4 year statute of limitations that begins to accrue when the property owner discovered or could have reasonably discovered any construction defect." We have already notified him of a big one. -Bogus charges were: *$500: move belongings out to the shed *$500: move belongings back in *$200: "secure windows & gates". Windows-placing some of the painter's paper over 3 windows & 1 of the painter's tarps over one. Security of the gate-closing the gate behind them when they left property. *$400: take delivery of appliances. They opened the door once for Lowe's. *$50: repair attic stairs wherein they left a bolt off which almost caused my husband to fall. The subs became like family to us. We provided home-made meals & gifted items as a Thank You. We even gave the contractor a season pass to Six Flags for he & his family. When he got short on $ & asked for advances before they were due & we obliged so he could pay his subs. We hate having to give this type of review. At the beginning we were writing a far different one before things started surfacing. We realize not idea things happen during construction & we were willing to live with it. However, we gave him multiple opportunities to be a man of his word & return our belongings back like he said he would. If he had only done that....but he didn't. I guess we should have heeded the warning in a review of someone else who fell victim to him earlier. He ended up doing us very similar to the way he did her. He obviously has no qualms to take advantage of senior citizens or the handicap. So please, PLEASE proceed with caution if you decide to use him. We do want to give him credit where credit is due. We do commend him on his electrical knowledge and work. He did do a great job on that. And we want to emphasize that his crew (sub-contracted by him) are really AMAZING, good-hearted gentlemen. They went out of their way to make sure all THEY did was with our safety in mind. We couldn't appreciate them more. Maybe, just maybe, their work ethic will rub off on the contractor one day. 🙏🏼 Nevertheless, I know that one day this contractor will have to answer for his actions to someone far greater than anyone who walks this earth.
