While at Texas A&M Rod used computers to experiment with multi-use spaces in architecture environments and the costs of quickly modifying the contents of the spaces for different purposes. These computerized time and motion studies became the basis of Apartment Movers as these computer models made it possible to determine the cost of moving items from one location to another in a building, between buildings or across the country. "Exact Move Price over the Phone or Internet" became one of the companies main features and in a matter of a few years The Apt. Movers became the largest volume moving company in Texas. Since 1978 the company has moved over a million happy customers and is still growing.

This was the worst move ever! After it turned into a disaster, I discovered that the movers are CONTRACTORS, not employees of the company. These were just some guys who owned a truck. I'll cut to the chase... they DROPPED our nicest piece of furniture - an armoire - down the outdoor concrete stairs at the apartment. The piece of furniture was badly damaged - door torn off, all wood trim ripped off, side badly scraped. It is not usable at all. They also damaged both a desk and a box spring. When this was occurring, I called the moving company. They didn't seem to care at all. I was advised there was a claim process. I filed a claim, with pictures, and received confirmation that they received my claim. I was advised they had 90 days to resolve the claim. In that 90 days, I received one voicemail saying the repairman was trying to reach me (of course, I had no messages from him). I made several attempts to make contact - both by phone and by email, but received no response. I was not able to file a compliant until the 90 day period passed. At that point, I filed a complaint with BBB, as well as the DMV. They responded to the BBB that they attempted to reach me on one occasion. When I was not satisfied with their response, the BBB closed the case as unresolved. Then suddenly one day I started getting "urgent" calls from them - both from an employee and the owner. Suddenly, they wanted desperately to resolve my issue. I'm guessing they received the DMV complaint, their regulatory agency. They dispatched a check to me, to the wrong address. I advised them I just wanted the furniture fixed. The repairman called and scheduled a time to come out. When he came, he fixed the desk and we were happy with his work. However, he said he did not have the materials to fix the armoire, and that the company did not want to pay him to come back out a second time. The company sent us a check for $381 for the remaining claim. This was the most miserable move experience I've ever had. I would stay far away from this company!

Worst customer service and excuses ever! THE MOST IRRESPONSIBLE AND UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY I HAVE EVER SEEN. If you need to hire movers, do yourself a favor and do not hire THE APARTMENT MOVERS out of Irving, Texas. They provided me with the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced.

I was scheduled for a Saturday move from Waco to Dallas. They said their truck would show up sometime between 7 a.m. and 12 p.m. – A huge window. I should have known it was going to be a long day when their driver called me at 6:30 a.m. and asked me if it was “ absolutely necessary that I move today.” It was. The driver said he was about an hour and a half away. He called a second time to confirm the load amount and informed me that the home office had been calling me all morning and claimed I had not been answering my phone. This was completely false as I had already answered two phone calls from the driver and had been sitting by my phone since 5:30 a.m. I should have seen the red flag. Three hours passed and I worried the driver had gotten lost. I called his cell phone. THE DRIVER THAT HAD BEEN BLOWING UP MY CELL-PHONE ALL MORNING NOW BEGAN SCREENING MY CALLS!
I called the home office and spoke to a representative. He put me on hold for ten minutes, then told me that there was an emergency with the driver’s helper and that they were trying to fix the problem and he would call me back. TWO HOURS passed and I didn’t hear back from them. I HAD NOW BEEN WAITING SIX HOURS for the truck to arrive. I called back and a representative, whom I later discovered was a manager now informed me that they were having “computer problems” and he needed to put me on hold. I was on hold for ten minutes and then HE HUNG UP ON ME. I called back. The phone rang for ten minutes and no one answered. I hung up and called back again. This time, a new representative told me that they had to get new drivers and they could move me between 5p.m. and 8 p.m. I had to cancel long-standing plans in Dallas.
At this point, I thought maybe I deserved a discount or at least an apology. Michael told me that only the manager could give me a discount and he attempted to transfer me. Wouldn’t you know it, them manager was unavailable and I was told he would call me back. THE MANAGER NEVER CALLED BACK, but another representative did. He was polite and apologetic – finally someone acting like a professional. He promised that a back-up driver would be at my house between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. I thanked him and decided not to ask for a discount….
THEN 8 O’CLOCK ROLLED AROUND! No phone call from a representative, manager, or anyone else at the company. I called them at 8:30 and spoke with someone completely unfamiliar with my case. I was put on hold for another ten minutes then I was told that the “night managers were unfamiliar with the situation.” I was put on hold for another ten minutes. Finally I was told that a driver was supposed to stop by on the way back from Houston but that fell through as well. WHY HADN’T ANYONE CALLED ME TO TELL ME THAT I WOULDN’T BE MOVED?! I WAS SITTING AROUND FOR SIX HOURS AFTER THE SECOND ATTEMPT AT FIXING THIS PROBLEM!!! I WAITED FOR A TOTAL OF FOURTEEN HOURS FOR THESE GUYS AND THEY DIDN’T GIVE ME SO MUCH AS A COURTESY CALL TO SAY THEY WEREN’T COMING. They asked if I wanted to reschedule for first thing in the morning but that the manager was the only one that could give me any kind of a discount –THE MANAGER THAT NEVER RETURNED MY CALLS AND HID BEHIND HIS EMPLOYEES ALL DAY! I had had enough.
I don’t fault the drivers or doubt that there was some kind of emergency. Stuff happens and we all make mistakes. What upsets and shocked me was the awful customer service. NO ONE at the company EVER called to update me on the situation. I HAD TO INITIATE ALL COMMUNICATION TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS HAPPENING.THEY DIDN’T EVEN CALL TO CANCEL!! THEY JUST LEFT ME SITTING IN MY APARTMENT WAITING FOR FOURTEN HOURS!!! The company seemed to hide behind different excuses and duck my phone calls. First it was an emergency, then it was computer problems, and, finally, they just started avoiding me. It was my fault for believing that they would make good on their second promise. We all make mistakes, but you expect a company to be straightforward when things go wrong.
This company is completely unprofessional and just plain awful. If you want a professional and easy move DO NOT HIRE “THE APARTMENT MOVERS” IN IRVING TEXAS.
