While at Texas A&M Rod used computers to experiment with multi-use spaces in architecture environments and the costs of quickly modifying the contents of the spaces for different purposes. These computerized time and motion studies became the basis of Apartment Movers as these computer models made it possible to determine the cost of moving items from one location to another in a building, between buildings or across the country. "Exact Move Price over the Phone or Internet" became one of the companies main features and in a matter of a few years The Apt. Movers became the largest volume moving company in Texas. Since 1978 the company has moved over a million happy customers and is still growing.

This was the worst move ever! After it turned into a disaster, I discovered that the movers are CONTRACTORS, not employees of the company. These were just some guys who owned a truck. I'll cut to the chase... they DROPPED our nicest piece of furniture - an armoire - down the outdoor concrete stairs at the apartment. The piece of furniture was badly damaged - door torn off, all wood trim ripped off, side badly scraped. It is not usable at all. They also damaged both a desk and a box spring. When this was occurring, I called the moving company. They didn't seem to care at all. I was advised there was a claim process. I filed a claim, with pictures, and received confirmation that they received my claim. I was advised they had 90 days to resolve the claim. In that 90 days, I received one voicemail saying the repairman was trying to reach me (of course, I had no messages from him). I made several attempts to make contact - both by phone and by email, but received no response. I was not able to file a compliant until the 90 day period passed. At that point, I filed a complaint with BBB, as well as the DMV. They responded to the BBB that they attempted to reach me on one occasion. When I was not satisfied with their response, the BBB closed the case as unresolved. Then suddenly one day I started getting "urgent" calls from them - both from an employee and the owner. Suddenly, they wanted desperately to resolve my issue. I'm guessing they received the DMV complaint, their regulatory agency. They dispatched a check to me, to the wrong address. I advised them I just wanted the furniture fixed. The repairman called and scheduled a time to come out. When he came, he fixed the desk and we were happy with his work. However, he said he did not have the materials to fix the armoire, and that the company did not want to pay him to come back out a second time. The company sent us a check for $381 for the remaining claim. This was the most miserable move experience I've ever had. I would stay far away from this company!
