The first guy didn't give us a very good diagnosis of what the problem was, and it broke the very next day. We called him to get it fixed, and to get it looked at, and he didn't identify what the issue was. He completely didn't get it right. They sent two or three people and took too long. I was in a hurry this time, so I just picked them, I would shop more next time.

Called Reliant on Jan 6. The sales rep Mike dropped by the same day. He provided very helpful suggestions. I  asked him a lot of questions, and he was very polite and patient in answering them. The installation crew (two gentlemen) arrived on Jan 8. It took them 5 hours to complete the work in the attic. They were also very kind and professional. After replacing the gas furnace, they installed dampers and adjusted air flow so that my master bedroom which was far way from the furnace was no longer colder than the other rooms. They also labeled individual dampers to facilitate future adjustment. The new Carrier Edge thermostat looks really cool. It  has a unique feature for old houses. It allows installation of the control module next to the furnace in the attic. The control module communicates with the display module (in the room) using only two of the existing wires. So you don't need to worry about adding more wires for more advanced equipment. Reliant also took care of permit and inspection. Of course mine passed.

I will start with Spring A/C tune up. THe service tech who came for tune up was professional and based on the age of the equipment recommended to replace the equipment. He mentioned based on pressure gauge readings that each unit would need approximately 3lbs of gas. He also mentioned about some minor leaks in the evaporator coil. I got a quote from reliant sales person recommended by tech. We did not go with replacement route and after this never got a followup call from Reliant/tech if I wanted to work on fixing the leaks and fillup my systems with gas.
I worked with my home warranty and got a different service company comeover and reservice the A/C equipment. Lack of followup and push to replace the equipment is what prompts me to give a "C" rating for this call.
The Fall tuneup for heating system was much simple and straight forward. The service tech was professional and confirmed the unit was in good condition. He explanied the needed things in detail. I would rate this visit an "A".

After the new blower motor was installed, we immediately complained that the motor didn't sound as loud and didn't seem to be putting out the same airflow as the older motor. As it was November, we couldn't test the system "under load" to see what it would actually do. Temps were mild. They came out twice to check and assured us the blower was the proper RPM and voltage, despite our complaints. fast forward to December. First cold snap that got down to the 30s. Woke up to a heater short cycling - the blower was on but the flame wouldn't stay lit longer than 20 seconds. House temp of 60 degrees. Cleaned the flame sensor. Replaced the thermostat and filter. Didn't help. Replaced the flame sensor. Burn time went up to two minutes. Also changed the thermostat and replaced the filter. No success. Took 24 hours to reach a temp of 68 degrees. Had a tech come out again today and he quickly spotted that they installed a 220 V blower instead of a 120. Completely fixed the problem. Not sure how the other three guys missed it but that is a rookie mistake. They did follow up a lot and return my calls, but if multiple visits don't fix it (and from multiple managers from the company) then you start to ask questions. tony, our last service tech, was great. Not very confident in the other ones. Thank goodness I have a job that is flexible so I could be here for the multiple follow ups. Overall not a bad company but my confidence in them is low.



Update:  I spoke with David Ripley at Reliant shortly after the repair was completed.  He apologized profusely and refunded my service fee.  In my opinion, they did everything they could to try to rectify this situation.  Nobody bats 1,000 and I appreciate Reliant's efforts to make this right.

We had Reliant come out to perform the standard inspection and tune-up on our A/C system at the beginning of the summer. They showed up on time, were professional and courteous, and completed the work as expected. No recommendations for additional parts or service were made. Exactly 1 week later however, our A/C stopped working in the middle of the night. I called Reliant at 6am and spoke with their answering service, who indicated that someone would be out that morning. I stayed home from work and watched the thermostat start to climb. A few hours later when I had not seen or heard from Reliant I called back and it was clear they had not received any message from their answering service and it was as if I hadn't called at all. The earliest they would be able to come out to check our A/C would be 48 hours later. It was already 85 degrees inside our house and it was still early in the day so waiting was not an option. I found their lack of urgency surprising - they had just inspected our system a week before and didn't seem at all concerned that it had now quit completely. I ended up calling another provider who came out to fix it the same day.

Although we were satisfied with Reliant's initial work, we were very disappointed in the follow-up. The whole point of getting our A/C inspected and tuned up was to avoid having a break down and when it did break down so soon after their visit, we would have expected them to promptly return and figure out what they missed.

My inspection and maintenance service call became a repair service for my electrical line because my AC was not working. The technician patiently tested the wires both from the groundfloor and climbed in my hot attic to locate the bad wire. He was sweating a lot when he finished fixing everything. I am glad to pay the extra service fee and was so happy with his work and professionalism that I paid for the annual tuneup maintenance agreement too. I felt like I got a great deal for everything the company offered me.
