This was a very extensive project, covering about a 4-week period, during which much of my front and side yard was dug up, including landscaping close to the house, as well as removal of about 2'x3' of tile flooring in the master bath and cutting into drywall in the laundry room, two bathrooms, and the master bath. All of this was communicated clearly, accurately and well ahead of time by both Barry, the owner, and his crew. There were no surprises. Exterior excavation areas were well-marked for safety purposes.
From the first communication with LeAnna in the office, until the final inspection by Barry, this company performed in a totally professional and competent manner. At the end of each day, work areas in my home were left clean and useable. The crew minimized the time that plumbing was not accessible, and notified me ahead of time.
Due to the extensive nature of this project, it could have been a nightmare, but Barry and his crew did everything possible to insure that all went well, and that I was not inconvenienced. I am totally impressed, very grateful, and highly recommend this company!
"Member, We have reviewed all of our customer records and your request was not in our system. If the request was sent by email, we did not receive it. Customer service is a top priorty for Accu-Find Slab Leak and requests for bids/work are normally responded to very quickly. We apologize for any inconvience this may have caused with having the work completed at your home."
I called Accu-Find and told them our insurance company's plumbers told us we didn't have a leak and the owner called me and said they stand behind their work and he would send them out again and if we didn't have a leak, he would refund the full amount which I thought was great gesture! They came out again promptly and we still had a leak.
I called our insurance adjuster and he sent out the their same plumbing company again and their owner also came over and they found
the leak in the exact same place Accu-Find had originally found it.
I really appreciated their customer service and professionalism and would recommend them to anybody.
We are still waiting on the insurance company to decide if covered and either way I will probably call them back to fix the leak as they really do stand behind what they do.
He said that he found no sign of a leak in the water lines (this is the type of repair that they do). He said that there was no way to be absolutely certain until the problem was found, but that it was very likely in the drain system. He explained that his company didn't do that type of repair, but could put me in touch with someone who could do the work.
Anyway, based on his assessment, I decided to call in a contractor to do the necessary repairs. He was right, the leak was in the drain system.
As he was leaving, I offered to pay him for his time and trouble. He graciously refused payment since it wasn't work that his company did. It's really great to find someone who is honest about what they do and don't do.
"IN RESPONSE : WE LOCATED 2 LEAKS ON THE MAIN SEWER LINE APPROX. 8-10FT. APART, AND NOTED ON OUR REPORT THAT ONE OF THE LEAKS HAD SOME CRACKED PIPE. AS REPAIRS ON CAST IRON LINES UNDER SLAB FOUNDATIONS ON OLDER HOUSES OFTEN GO, THERE WAS MORE BAD PIPE THAN WE ANTICIPATED, OR COULD SEE WITH OUR CAMERA. OUR ESTIMATE OF $2500.00 WAS FOR 2 SLAB PENETRATIONS TO REPAIR 2 LEAKS, INCLUDING ACCESS, EGRESS, RETESTING THE SYSTEM , THE CITY PERMIT, AND INSPECTION. THE ESTIMATE (AS STATED ON OUR PROPOSAL ) WAS BASED ON 3FT. OF PIPE PER LEAK, OR 2 - EIGHT HOUR DAYS FOR 2 MEN. WE ALSO STATED THAT ADDITIONAL CHARGES WOULD APPLY IF ANOTHER SLAB PENETRATION WAS NECESSARY, AND THAT ADDITIONAL HOURLY CHARGES WOULD APPLY IF THE TIME TO COMPLETE THE JOB EXCEEDED THE ESTIMATED 8 HOURS PER SLAB PENETRATION. WE ENDED UP REPLACING 20 FT. OF BAD PIPE WHICH REQUIRED 1 ADDITIONAL SLAB PENETRATION (3 TOTAL). WE ALSO HAD TO TUNNEL OUT APPROX. 14FT. BETWEEN THE HOLES. IN ADDITION, WE HYDRO- JETTED OUT THE MAIN SEWER LINE , AND LOCATED ONE ADDITIONAL LEAK. THE TUNNELING AND BACKFILLING REQUIRED EXTENSIVE ADDITIONAL TIME. MANY OF OUR COMPETITORS CHARGE BY THE FOOT FOR ADDITIONAL TUNNELING, BETWEEN $225.00 AND $250.00 PER FOOT. IF WE WOULD HAVE CHARGED BY THE FOOT, THE BILL WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH HIGHER. WE SPENT 5 DAYS ON THE JOB, 4 WITH 2 MEN, AND 1DAY WITH 1 MAN. THE JOB WOULD HAVE BEEN FINISHED SOONER AND THE BILL WOULD HAVE BEEN SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER IF THE OWNER WOULD HAVE LET US PENETRATE THE 3RD HOLE WHEN WE RECOMMENDED DOING SO. AS FOR THE $120 DISCOUNT, AFTER THE 3RD DAY WHEN WE KNEW EXACTLY HOW MUCH BAD PIPE WE HAD TO REPLACE I ESTIMATED THE ADDITIONAL HOURS THAT IT WOULD TAKE TO COMPLETE THE JOB AND NOTIFIED THE OWNER THAT THE BILL WOULD BE APPROX. $5200.00. THE ITEMIZED BILL CAME UP TO $5270.00. AFTER OUR DISCUSSION, I DEDUCTED THE $70.00 + $50.00 ANGIE'S LIST COUPON. AS THE OWNER OF ACCU-FIND I FEEL THAT ALL OF THE CHARGES WERE JUSTIFIED FOR THE WORK THAT WAS DONE AND THE AMOUNT OF TIME SPENT ON THE JOB. BARRY LEACH OWNER/MGR"
