Technician quickly diagnosed the problem. They had to order the parts to repair it, but once they came in the repair was scheduled and completed very promptly.

I have used this firm numerous times over the years and am always pleased with the professional, courteous, and punctual service I receive.  While I do find their prices are a bit higher than others offering the same services, I am willing to pay for a job well done and for the extraordinary service I receive.  My house is treated respectfully; the workers clean up after themselves and they always arrive within the time window promised.

They're excellent. They did excellent work. They gave me a coupon for 30% off. It's very good. I've had them several times. I'd give them all A plus. I'm gonna use them again. I have a great plumber.

Last fall, I hired them to replace old ductwork in one of my houses that is occupied by renters.  In the spring, the renters called them because a furnace blower was out.. when they gave an estimate for the blower motor and, alternatively, a new system,  they advised the renters that the ductwork was a mess and needed to be replaced - there was old ductwork mixed with new, and most of the new ductwork was just laying on the attic floor instead of being hung.  They even showed a picture of how it should be properly done.
The next day when I talked to them, I reminded them that the problem ductwork was theirs - they had just been paid to replace it!  They checked their records and responded that: a) for some reason their work order only included replacement of 5 of the 7 ducts; b)  out of the 5, their tech only had replaced 3; and c) out of the 3 actually replaced, only one had been hung properly, the other two were laid on the floor of the attic, which violates code.  They offered to hang the 2 improperly laid runs and to replace the 2 runs that they had failed to replace at all.  They also quoted replacement of the furnace and air-conditioning system with a Lennox system but, when asked which Lennox model number they were stumped and said they would have to work on figuring that out!
I subsequently had 2 other contractors bid on the replacement systems and was very surprised to learn that even the 3 ducts that Village replaced had not been the type required by Code (R8) but instead were R4, which had been long since been superseded in Code requirements.  Village had also removed the tags on the ductwork that would have shown the insulation rating in case an inspector checked their job.  When confronted with this information Village blamed it on a tech who no longer worked there and offered to replace all of the ductwork with R8 "if they got the replacement job."  I can see blaming poor installation on a rogue employee (but that admits that there is no follow-up to ensure quality work), but you can't blame a tech for loading product on the van that Code does not allow.
When I threatened suit, they refunded the money I paid for the ductwork... I wound up having the systems and ductwork replaced by Air Specialists, who I highly recommend.
In sum, the only things that sets Village apart from the shady guy on Craigslist are slick television ads, fancy vans and high prices.

Response from Village Plumbing & Air

"Dear [Member Name Removed] I was truly disappointed to read your review. Although you have lost faith in my company, I am glad our second technician pointed out the faulty work our first technician had performed in your home. I would have liked to replace the duct work and perform the job properly, however, I respect that you allowed Air Specialists to perform the work. I know the owner of Air Specialists well and they are a quality company. We refunded your money for the work because it was the right thing to do. You are correct that quality checks on job sites are vital to verify the proper installation of systems and it is obvious that no one checked your job at the end of the service. I sincerely apologize for your experience. My parents started Village in 1946 and I take great pride in doing work the right way the first time. It is my family's reputation on the line. If there is anything I can do to repair our relationship, please email me at [email protected] or call me at 713-526-1491. Thank you for your feedback. It is greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Monica Ryan"

It went fine.  Lighting my pilot was quick and easy.  The hot water heater is 4 feet from my back door.  A simple job. I was told that that the price to light pilot would be $175.00  I agreed to it because i needed to have hot water.  My house and car had flooded.  The water heater was one more problem to take care of.  That is why i said ok to do the work.

service company. Our air conditioning failed. Village Plumbing had installed the air conditioning/heating system. Village Plumbing came immediately and diagnosed the problem, which arose because the unit wasn't properly serviced last time they came out for a part replacement. I had a discussion with a pleasant young technician who indicated that Village Plumbing was "cleaning house" because of some bad technicians in the field. He indicated that he personally would be taking care of our air conditioning system. We put new components in, under a new warranty. I just wanted to keep the unit running during the summer and I didn't have time to "shop" a new service company. After twenty-five years of using Village Plumbing, I am writing them off. I certainly would not recommend them to new customers.
Response from Village Plumbing & Air

"Dear [member name removed] ~ I apologize for any service you have received that is below your standards. The Air Conditioning Service Manager, Billy Raley, will be contacting you tomorrow morning to discuss your job and correct anything that is not to your expectations. I am not familiar with any "house cleaning" as we have strict hiring standards that have been in place for some time to protect our clients. I am disappointed to hear that any employee would make such a comment and I am thankful you told me. I appreciate you listing your concerns so we may be have a chance to correct the situation for you and for all our customers. Thank you again for your review. Sincerely, Monica Ryan President"

It was good. They seem to be trustworthy and professional. Their pricing is probably a little bit average or a little higher than average. They're not perfect but they're pretty good.

I called another plumbing company. They came promptly to my house, gave me an estimate, and a 10 percent discount for being an Angie's List member. I gave the job to them.

Went to their showroom in the morning and we were shown severaloptions that fit our needs. After selecting and purchasing a model, it was installed the same day by late afternoon. Superb service with high professionalism. Could not be more pleased with the outcome.

Prompt response, but for the money I paid, I was only somewhat satisfied. The immediate blockage was removed, but we had new problems a few weeks later. I eventually used the plumber recommended by my renovations contractor, who did a more thoroough job.

The plumber came out and said it really needed to be replaced but repaired as best he could for the time being. The estimate he gave me for the replacement was very high, $300, so I did not have him replace it at that time. He was very nice and informative. He did what I needed as I wanted to confirm if the old faucet I had was fixable or needed to be replaced, which he got it working again until my husband could replace it.

I used this company because my regular plumber couldn't come out today.  I had a minor gas leak from an outside lantern that got water inside of it. I just needed the water cleared and the fire lit. Two men came out. The main guy, Will, said that it had soot buildup and needed to be "completely taken apart and cleaned out." I immediately knew this couldn't be true because it just went out 2 days ago when a pressure washer accidentally got water into the lantern.  It wasn't soot buildup, but water. Before that it was working perfectly. I told him just to see if there was any water in the line and to relight it. He insisted that it was soot buildup and would only do the work for $250. I agreed to the price, thinking at least I will get my lantern completely cleaned out and lit. He literally took the brass tip out, walked to his truck, and came back 5 minutes later and said he was done. He had taken a rotary wire tool and scrubbed the top of the tiny 2" brass piece where the fire comes out.  That was it, for $250. When I commented about it being a high charge for $250, he said, "If you buy a home warranty, I'll reduce the price to $200". I said I wasn't interested. Then he said "What do you think would be a fair price?" I said that I thought absolutely no more than $150. He shrugged his shoulders, and said, "OK."
He also damaged the brass tip when he "polished" it and now I need to get a new one. So, $150 charge and I'm in a worse position now than before. I will complain to management but after talking to neighbors I hear that this is typical of this company. There is no set price list--they charge what they think you will pay.

I had the same technician every time who seem very knowledgeable. After dealing with multiple AC issues in the past 6 months and using several difference services, I have found Village to be overpriced and very willing to push services/fixes that are very expensive and highly unnecessary.
After paying $1,200 for the zone board, i found others could replace it for $700-800. I needed to replace my evaporator coil due to a leak.  The technician mentioned it was 'about $3,000. When he confirmed that it needed to be replaced, he tells me it is normally $3,600 but they would do it for me for $3,000.  I got another quote of $2,000 and told Village...they came back and said they could do it for $2,000.  I suppose it is good that they would come down in price but the fact is they would have seriously screwed me with their first price. Maybe this is standard industry practice, but seems pretty exploitative to me.  After having another company replace the coil, I had village come back to address another issue. Same technician told me that the new coil was either leaking already, hadn't been installed properly, or there wasn't a proper vacuum on the system when it was recharged.  he wanted to charge $300 to add some coolant or $900 to recover all the coolant and fully recharge.  I declined. Turned the coil outside was so caked in dirt it wasn't operating efficiently.  I cleaned it myself.  He didn't even bother to check it..just wanted me to pay for more coolant.
All in all, I feel like they are out to get as much of the customer's money as possible.  I will not use again.
