Called on Monday to set up an appointment for esimate .We decided on a day and time later in the week. Javier and an assistant came on time. Were very professional, took shoes off when entering house. Gave me a satisfactory estimate, and spent a great deal of time with me discussing paint color and type of paint to be used, including low odor paint . They came on time to do the job, and were very efficient, careful and clean. The area of sheet rock repair blends in well, and the overall appearance of the bathrom wall is very good. I am planning to use them again for a job in the kitchen.

Luis was very polite on the phone. He had to reschedule our initial estimate appointment due to a family funeral, but he called promptly to let me know. We rescheduled the appointment within 2 weeks. He was punctual for the estimate appointment, and we were able to schedule the work just a few days later. They worked on a Saturday, which was great for our work schedules. They taped off adjacent rooms when they began sanding the patches in the ceiling, and cleaned up thoroughly when finished. Given the amount of sanding required, there was minimal drywall dust in the house. Our ceiling looks great.

The first day the workers used hammers to bust out the holes for the electric boxes and light switches. I asked them why they didnt use a knife and cut it to fit, they said it was "Ok that they would use plaster to make the hole correct. This was just not right so I told them they had to cut all outlets and boxes in the sheetrock, not pound holes. The walls look good. The ceilings all have wavy float lines in them and at night with the light reflecting on them look horrible. They had said this was as good as they could get them (after me complaining for them to redo them 3 times). They cut the recessed light holes way to large and then tried to cake in plaster, which has made the trim very hard to fit on and since it doesnt fit flush with sheetrock makes the lights look awful at night.

We had Vera Paint and Sheetrock paint the exterior of our home the end of last year. We were very satisfied with that job, so we decided to have them paint the interior of our home after the first of the year. We arranged a starting date with Luis and they began their job as scheduled. This company is family owned and Javier, the father, works with his sons, Luis and Daniel. They are extremely polite, accomodating, and punctual. Luis is very good about calling each time they are on their way. Javier is a master at repairing sheetrock. We see no evidence of the damage we had on the ceilings. They are, in our opinion, very reasonable for the job they do. Each night they clean up, and after the job was completed they were sure all the floors had been swept and all of the furniture returned to its proper places. They really want to please their clients.

We had not painted our trim for about 10 years, and we decided to look for a painter. As usual, I turned to Angie's list and found the Vera family. I called Luis and set up an appointment for an estimate. He called to confirm the time and he and his father came, gave an estimate which was acceptable to us, and made arrangements to start the job. The first day was spent doing a very throrough washing of all the surfaces to be painted. Except for being rained out one day they came everyday on time and worked hard. Luis was very good at keeping us informed of the progress toward completion. We are very satisfied with the job they did.

At first we thought that they were blowing us off, as they did not return our phone call for a couple of weeks, and we were on the point of marking them off their list when they called back. Turns out they had been in Canada, on vacation. They made an appointment, showed up on time, took down our detailed request for four separate estimates for various parts of the job, and gave us the four estimates on the spot. The pricing was so reasonable, and the prior reports from Angie's so positive, that we accepted their bid later that day. That was a Saturday; they showed up on Monday AM, at exactly the time they promised. They finished the walls and started on the trim on Monday, finished the trim, cabinets, and doors on Tuesday, and did some clean up and the exterior job on Wednesday morning before 10. The job is not European-craftsman perfect, but such perfection would be wasted on our house anyway. It is very, very good work, especially considering the price. The edges are about as crisp as the construction allows, the coverage is even, the trim is smooth and evenly covered, and it all looks great. There is a very minor amount of overspray in one or two places. The job is much better than previous work we've had, and completely satisfactory. Luis provided detailed printed estimates when they showed up on Monday. They used precisely the paint we requested, which we had used in a few rooms and wanted to match. They did exactly what they said they'd do, and got it done on time and on budget. Very professional.

This was TERRIBLE and NOONE SHOULD EVER HIRE THESE PEOPLE!!!! Although the estimate was appropriate, once they started, the price continued to escalate. We paid half of the estimate prior to their work ($1600). They did not have the appropriate scaffolding equipment to repair the cathedral ceiling, so jury-rigged 3 ladders and clearly could not reach certain areas well. With this improvised system, we were concerned for their own safety. Although they fixed the water damage in some areas, there was still evidence of water marks through the paint in other areas, and they did not remove the vent fixtures, so now they look messy with stray paint. They were unable to match the paint color for the ceiling (...white...) so charged us another $400 to repaint the rest of the first floor ceiling after trying to "patch" the ceiling and leaving giant white roller streaks across the kitchen. Once they supposedly completed this job, it was evident they are complete amateurs - there are roller streaks all across the ceilling - totally evident and it looks terrible. They also got paint on my new ceiling fan. They were unable to match the wall color in the room with the most damage (I know this can be done - other painters in the past have taken a paint chip and the paint store can match it. When I suggested this, he asked me for the address of the paint store, and said he would damage the wall if he did this. When he discovered the formula for the exact paint color, he said that I would owe him another $80-90 for the paint he had already purchased and that would have to be discarded). The upstairs water damage was limited to a smaller area, and the line between the ceiling and the wall is a mess, with the wall painted a different color than the rest of the wall. I can do better than this. The kicker was when he "discovered" old paint in the garage, left from 2 1/2 years ago when we spent thousands of dollars painting the rest of our home interior. He - without asking if I wanted this done - "touched up" multiple areas in the middle of 6 large walls without making sure the colors still matched. We are now left with an enormous problem of unmatched paint splotches in the middle of our walls that were perfectly good to start with! The damage caused by these amateurs will cost us thousands of dollars to repair. We fired them before they caused any more damage.
Response from Vera Painting & Drywall Specialist
"THIS COSTUMER HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH MORE PAINTERS AND CONTRACTORS BEFORE. The work was not completed. As we were getting close to finish, I came in the morning, like every other day, rang the bell and the owner comes out mad and aggressive, disrespecting me and my Dad, making out false stories about the work, without even letting me talk or explain me what was going on. I believe the owner knew that we were so close to finish and instead of paying me the left over balance, he planned on firing me. All my tools were inside of his house and he even refused to give me back my tools. Then he tried to scare me, by telling me that he was going to call the police and threading me, so that I will live him alone. I was the one that call the police because of his inhuman attitude and not giving me my tools. When the police arrived, I told them what happened and they told the owner that he cannot keep my tools hostage. The police saw that the big and hard work was done. Painting on some areas was the only things need it. I told the police officer that I had a contract signed with these costumer and that we were INSURED AND BONDED. The police told me that it was not a crime manner and that there was nothing missing or broken. In the contract I specify the owner that I was going to touchup the ceilings and walls only with the same ceiling and wall paint that he gave me, but was not responsible if the paint did not touchup right. The owner agrees in the contract. The paint did not match so he told me to paint the entire ceiling, before painting, I told him that it was going to be extra and he agrees on it. Even though the home insurance pay him for Ike damage and the ACE Company gave him money for air-condition damage. He refused to pay me the left over balance for my work. THIS IS OUR FIRST TIME THAT WE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH A COSTUMER. I HAVE NEVER CALLED THE POLICE BEFORE ON WORK. WE ARE A CHRISTIAN FAMILY, FRIENDLY COMPANY, PROFESSIONALLY WORKING IN INTERIOR & EXTERIOR PAINT AND DRYWALL SINCE 1994. WE WILL NOT LIVE YOUR WORK UNTIL YOU ARE 100% SATISFIED WITH US. I'M VERY SORRY FOR WHAT HAPPENED AND I PRAY TO GOD THAT BLESSES US WITH MORE WORK. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. Sincerely: Luis Javier Vera VERA PAINT AND SHEETROCK"

We had already gotten a couple estimates that were higher than Mr. Vera, but that's not the reason we hired him. He was very knowledgeable. What he said he would do was precisely what the higher priced dry wall companies said they would do. What impressed me was the interaction between father and son. You had the father's wisdom and experience and the son's energy and know-how. We knew they were a good team. We called them on Tuesday they came out on Wednesday, gave us an estimate before they left and did the work on Thursday. It took about 3-4 hours. They covered all affected areas and cleaned up when they were done. It was that easy and I am very pleased with their work. I used to have an interior decorating business and I dealt with contractors on a daily basis. I knew my hunch about Vera would be correct. They are hard working people who respect each other and will in turn respect your property and do the job you pay them to do.

Luis and his crew did an excellent job and the results were impressive. They performed the entire job including sheet rock repairs, priming and painting walls, ceilings, woodwork and doors in two days. They were prompt and professional. I would recommend them to others.

Luis and crew did a great job of patching, texturing and painting the seven access holes an electrician made while doing some elective wiring work. I knew they were not the cheapest going in, but I wanted the work done right. The result is so good, it is hard to tell exactly where the holes were. This is why you hire a professional and not do it yourself or hire a cheap handyman.

I called Vera paint and we setup a time for them to come see the area to be sheetrocked. Luis came and game me an estimate. They came back a couple of days later and did the job quickly and within the quoted price.

I contacted Louis on a Monday, he came the following Tuesday A.M. to give an estimate and was able to start by Wednesday and finish by Thursday. He and his crew worked after hours to complete my small master bathroom within the time frame I had requested. I feel they went above and beyond and were extremely responsive to all of my questions and concerns. The finished product was excellent and the crew was extremely polite and professional. I plan on using them for our next bathroom.

Vera painting came out and gave me an estimate, and amazingly started work IMMEDIATELY after I gave the YES. They were done later that day and performed the work exactly as promised. When so many contractors will give you an estimate and a starting date 1.5 - 2 weeks later, its very refreshing to have a contractor like Vera Painting that started work immediately, on schedule, and on budget.

I was thrilled with Luis' work. The electrician who fell through the ceiling happened to stop by when Luis was finishing up and was so astonished at the speed, results and cost that he took some of Luis' business cards to recommend him to others. I'll be recommending him to everyone I know, as well. His fee would have been cheap at twice the price.

The father and sons came on time for the estimate and gave me an estimate on the spot. I scheduled the job for 2 weeks later and they came on time and the job took exactly the number of days as they have estimated. They did a good job to repair the sheetrock and the painting. They cleaned up the best they could afterwards.

Vera Painting was very polite and prompt. They did a wonderful job and we are going to use him again very soon. There was no mess and he was professional the way he went about things. I believe he cared about his work and wanted it to look nice, that is why I understood why he used the sprayer for the cabinets to make it look neater. We love the outcome of the job they did and would definitely use them again.

Luis and Javier did a fantastic job on my interior painting and sheet rock repair. What started out as repairing several walls in my home (sheet rock and texturing), turned into me asking them to paint four rooms. This included painting a bead board ceiling by hand with enamel paint. They were punctual, honest, fair, thorough, and polite. They accomplished more in a day than previous painters have in three days. Upon adding the rooms to the scope of work, they purchased the paint and painted four rooms in four hours one day. The texturing of the walls matches perfectly. Their eye for detail is outstanding. I will have them back after the holidays to finish up two additional rooms that need work. They showed up when they said they would, and called me to ensure we were both on the same page as far as expectations. They are very fair and ethical. Wonderful workmanship.

Vera Painting did a fabulous job. Luis and Javier take great pride in their work and it shows. My house needed a great deal of work - peeling paint, caulking needing replaced around windows, etc... They scraped the old paint and then filled those areas with wood filler, sanded, and then painted the house. I provided them with the information on the type of paint I wanted and they procured the paint. They work fast, but provide a level of detail not typically seen in the painters I've used in the past. They were polite and very detailed, making sure they understood my expectations. I wish I had found them 11 years ago when I moved into my home.
