TOMMYS TREE SERVICE

Tommy gave us a free estimate that was agreeable for us. He met the scheduled appointment to do the work with his crew and they finished thoroughly and quickly. We were very happy with the work.

Chris was prompt in scheduling an appointment for the initial estimate. He was very courteous and understanding regarding our requests and gave us a detailed proposal of the final cost. The Eight-Man Crew doing the work was careful not to damage our yard, fence and home while removing tree limbs (some were very large!!). During the process they communicated with us to confirm that we were satisfied with the work being performed. When they were finished they made sure everything was cleaned-up and hauled-off as agreed. The crew worked exceptioinally well together. We were very satisfied with their work, would use them again and highly recommend them to others.

I did not use this provider due to his exorbitant price.

We came home in the evening to find that a primary branch from one of our street trees had fallen to the ground and was partially in the street.The next morning I started calling tree services with high ratings on both Angie's List and the BBB. I wanted the branch removed the same day for safety reasons since it was partially in the street. Most of the tree services I called could not provide same day service. When I first called Tommy's Tree Service he said was already working a job on the other side of town but could be there the next day. I kept calling and found a highly rated company that could do the service the same day and would come over right away to provide an estimate. While waiting for that company to arrive Tommy called back to see if I had found anyone and to remind me he was available the following day if needed. I told him I had found a tree service and was waiting for them to arrive to give us an estimate. Tommy called back a few hours later and said he could now do the job same day later in the afternoon. Since the estimate person had not yet shown up I told Tommy we would use him. He gave me a verbal estimate based on my description of the branch that fell. The work was done as promised.

Overall, I had a very good experience with this company. Received a response call from Tommy himself promptly after I left the initial message. Due to May flood situation he could not schedule with me for a couple of weeks -- and he was open and straightforward about it, so not to overpromise and risk wasting my time. My situation was not an emergency, so I did not mind waiting. The estimator came in as scheduled, and was polite and no-nonsense. The estimate was fair in my opinion for the amount of work involved The crew showed up on the scheduled day on time. The estimator (now, playing a foreman) was there for most of the time. They were very careful on my property-- removed the yard items out of the way and later carefully put them back. The plants within close proximity to the removed trees were only lightly damaged to my pleasant surprise. They worked for 4 hours in aggregate, did a great job and cleaned up well my yard and the neighbor's driveway that was in close proximity with the cut tree. They used proper safety equipment and techniques (albeit no ear protection) -- which to me a sign of professionalism, care for the stuff, and consideration for the potential insurance liability. In the course of work, the foreman noticed two more areas of dead wood and I agreed to add it to the estimate.. He was not pushing it, just mentioned and left it to my decision. I have only 3 (very minor) negative comments: - I did not receive a 10% Angies discount, even though I indicated that's how I got a referral - they removed a flag bracket from the brick wall without discussing with me first. Afterwards, they had a trouble re-installing it -- mainly because they did not have the right tools. It was not a big deal for me and I told them to leave it alone and I will do it correctly later, but for somebody not as handy as I am this could have been a disappointment. - the 'trimming' of the oaks in the backyard involved only cutting off the lower branches with a chainsaw. I was expecting a complete 'haircut' of the canopy -- but, granted, this was not discussed beforehand. All in all, I highly recommend this company for your tree needs.

Tommy arrived promptly at 2 p.m. I was at work and had my sister call me, from my home, to speak with Tommy about the details of the written estimate. This was the first 'clear weather' weekend after the multiple floods in Houston. The original scheduled day I I took off from work but the weather did not permit the crew to work. However, Tommy was able to reschedule with in 48hrs. The large oak and sycamore trees were overgrown. The canopies were cleared and the overgrown limbs were removed from over the house and driveway. In addition, the pine and pecan trees were trimmed, 3 crepe myrtles removed and the 2 healthy ones were transplanted. There were 3 pecan trees that needed to be uprooted from areas not sustainable to the trees. Two were potted to be transplanted later. There was thick brush in corners of the yard. This was not on the original estimate but Tommy suggested clearing the area. Good thing....there was a crepe myrtle hiding within the thick brush. All the crepe myrtles were trimmed and 2 were transplanted to better locations. Tommy gave instructions on the care of the transplants for successful growth. There were other overgrown areas on one side of the house and short logs that were removed. The areas were cleaned and the debris hauled off. I got off at 5 p.m. and the crew had completed the job and was gone. The outcome was FABULOUS! I didn't recognize the yard. The trees were trimmed so nicely and there was not any debris from the trees in the yard. There were 2 crepe myrtles, in an open area of the yard, without any evidence of where the trees were prior to the transplanting. The neighbor was impressed enough to inquire about the services and get an estimate for future work on his property. Tommy worked with my sister to complete the job that we had previously discussed. His knowledge of the trees helped to save several of my favorite trees and I am satisfied with the end product(s). I will refer his company to others and would definitely use his services again. The team was prompt, professional, experienced and efficient. I initially hired a company that was so inexpensive and was NOT off Angie's list and Tommy came and fixed it. We even got souvenir ink pens. THANKS!!!

When Tropical Storm Bill was heading Houston's way, I noticed one of my trees was split and ready to fall on my fence! I called several tree services which could not come check the tree out. When I called Tommy's Tree Service, the owner sent his son, Chris, within the hour. What a relief, Chris said he could come out the next day. even in the tropical storm! He and his crew arrived early, cut the tree down and cleaned everything up (completely), all in the rain. I would highly recommend this tree service! They were prompt, professional, and did quality work (even during a tropical storm)!!

Vendor called Wednesday to cancel and reschedule estimate nearly 3 hours after the discussed appointment time. Called Thursday morning to reschedule the estimate again due to automotive issue. When told that we would need to meet after 5:00 PM Thursday became belligerent and argumentative repeating that "things happen". Not interested in procuring new business and shows little respect for the customer and their time.

Tommie came to my house to give me an estimate the next day after I called. He was professional and explained the process to me. He gave me a written estimate. I hired him. He gave me a date they would come to do the work. He called as they were on their way, as he had told me he would. The supervisor and crew arrived a few minutes before they said they'd be there, which was 10 AM. I was concerned about the tree between my house and my neighbors because I didn't want them to damage my neighbor's house or mine. They did an excellent job, very careful. It was enjoyable to watch as they carefully put ropes in the right places to make sure no limbs hit my neighbor's house or mine. They took some slats of the fence off to be able to remove the limbs more easily. They put them back nicely before they left. Tommie was there the whole time to supervise his crew. They also did some minor trimming of a small crape myrtle in the back yard. They cleaned up very nicely - not one bit of mess left behind. They finished in the time Tommie had told me they would. I highly recommend this company.

They did all the work in 4 hours and cleaned up after they were done, hauled all waste away. Everything looks good.

We chose not to use Tommy because his estimate was out of our price range. We ended up going with a less expensive service provider. If you can afford a little more in your budget, Tommy would be a great choice.

They were expensive but the job was good.

Job was complicated by large bushes around one tree which I did not want to see damaged during the tree removal process. Also because the trees were abutting the property fence and were accessible from one side only. They were able to remove the tree branches and trunk without damaging the bushes. VERY NICE JOB.

Was able to get the crew out the same day I called. Appreciated the prompt response and service. Tommy was there to supervise his crew.

Did a great job and I would use again.

I used Tommy's Tree Service recently to prune my oak trees and do some other work. I have already reviewed that fantastic service. But what he did for me yesterday is way above the usual level of service, but that's what Tommy does. I emailed his son in the office to ask if Tommy could evaluate my hedges and flower beds for suspected poison ivy because my wife came down with a reaction to something we suspected as being poison ivy in our garden. Tommy got the message and he came to our home the very next day and removed the poison ivy plants. He wouldn't even charge us! Everything I have ever asked him to do he has done and done better than anyone. Every aspect of his company has been a pleasure to do business with. I wish all companies doing services were as good as Tommy's Tree Service!!

Tommy came out the evening of 8/13/2014 after a late afternoon call to him. He gave me a free estimate, and when a price was agreed on, his people were out the very next morning to do the storm damage clean-up. I am very satisfied with the job they did, and will call him again if any tree service is needed.

Tommy provided me a quote with in 24 hours of my call. The workers showed up on time. They did a great job of trimming the tree while ensuring that none of the debri fell on or harm my neighbors plants.

When the house was built in 1978, 3 ash trees were planted in the front yard. They grew very large, and have reached their limit. One died and broke in 2012, damaging our roof. We had that removed and hauled away by another company. A second died, but all we could afford was to have it topped - cut off just below al the branches. It's been a while now, and I was left with a tree trunk, approximately 6' tall and about 4' across in my front yard. I also had the adjacent stump that had been cut at ground level. I called another company that I had used before, but was not comfortable with their quote. I called Tommy's Tree Service, and they were there within a day. I was not able to be there, but my son stopped by and saw the man when he arrived, prepared to do the work if I agreed. The quote was less than the other, and I knew, because of their good reputation on Angie's List, I could trust them to do the job. They took the tree trunk down and ground both stumps. The trunk was hauled away, along with most of the chipped stumps. Some of the chips were left - and spread - to cover the holes left by the grinding. The area was cleaned up and looked beautiful when I arrived home. I was very impressed and would definitely recommend them.

It was nice to deal with a professional for a change. I would recommend Tommy's services without hesitation.

He came out and gave me an estimate pretty quickly. At the time I thought he'd cut too much off, but now that its had some time to grow out, they're shaped nicely. They cleaned up after themselves very well.

They did a great job. Cleaned up so that you never knew they were here. Will use them again when needed.

During a storm with high winds, a tree in our back cracked at the trunk, and came down in our backyard. We called Tommy's Tree service. They were on another job, and they arrived at our house when they completed it. They gave us a free estimate, which we accepted, and they cut up the tree and removed it within the hour.

When I called the office, June 30th, I left my name and contact information. Chris, the owner's son, called back promptly to arrange a time to assess the job. He was on another job at that time so we made an appointment for the next day. He was on time for that appointment. We looked at the trees and he made an evaluation. He gave me what I considered to be a very good price for all 4 trees. The first date I was available was the following Monday. Chris scheduled the job for that morning. He and another young man arrived promptly Monday morning and did a great job on the trees. I asked Chris for some business cards and I have passed them out to friends. It was a very good experience.

It went very well. I asked them to work around my upcoming vacation and they were happy to do it. Communication was stellar and never once did they drop the ball.
