TOMMYS TREE SERVICE

I called on a Friday and Tommy came over on Saturday to give me quote since he was in the area. Scheduled work for Monday. I received a call asking me to change to Tuesday which was not a problem. Crew showed up as scheduled. Tommy wasn't able to come until noon, but with work order and my input crew understood work needing to be done. I have neglected my oak tree for many years, branches hung so low would hit me in head and I'm only just over 5 feet tall. The oak tree looks like an entirely new tree now. I should now be able to grow some grass. The branches they took down on my pine tree were massive. My crape myrtle in nicely trimmed back from the house. Once Tommy arrived he did some extra trimming of some neighbor trees hanging over my fence. I was very pleased with the quality of the work and the clean up. Tommy told me he didn't have his stump grinder but someone else would come by at five to do that. Someone did show up just at five and did the stump grinding on the tree I had removed. Everything was taken care of. I will be using Tommy again in early spring for deep root feeding. Tommy educated me on some tree care and was very pleasant to work with.

When I called, the boss said they were not far away and he could come to give an estimate within the hour, which he did. His crew arrived about 45 minutes later. They removed the broken limb and a dead limb further up the tree. It took maneuvering to lower the limbs into my small yard and avoid the neighbor's yard, which the tree overhangs. They finished in record time. All debris was cleaned up. It seemed like this service was expensive, but I got no other bids, so don't know how it compares. The company's workers are bonded and insured, which is very important to me, given the dangers of the work. All in all, I was very satisfied.

Tommy provided excellent service. He arrived on time for the estimate, listened to my concerns and addressed them all. He and his crew arrived on time on the day we scheduled the work. The work was performed as we discussed and Tommy was there to personally oversee the job - a big plus! They cleaned up, and as other reviewers have noted, the yard looked better when they left than when they arrived. They even cleaned the acorns out of my gutters. They also cut and neatly stacked some of the larger pieces for me to use as firewood. The trees look great - healthy and natural, not like something out of a Dr. Seuss book (bare branches with leaves only on the end). I'll definitely call Tommy again next time.

Tommy stated that the crew would be on location at 10 a.m. and should be finished by 4 p.m. Crew arrived right on time and finished by about 4:30 p.m. which is excellent since the larger tree was more of a job than expected. All equipment (dump truck, shredder, and stump grinder) brought to the work was in good condition as there were no equipment breakdowns. Climbing equipment and ropes were professional. The crew work very safe and carefully plan each step of the removal to be sure no one was hurt and there was no property damage. Crew was polite and worked hard. It was a hard job as the home is a patio home and access was real tight. I was impressed because the corner tree provided so difficult. They clean up all debris and hauled it off. I have seen some comments on Angie?s List that Tommy?s was expensive. But I felt the professionalism of the equipment and the crew provided was well worth it. Only hiccup was on my part because I thought, as with other contractors I have had work on the place, an invoice would be sent after the work was complete instead of paying the crew. Work was being done at sister's house and I had not brought my check book. The foreman was nice and said just to mail the check to the office.

Based on the outstanding reviews, I contacted Tommys Tree Service. I spoke with Tommy and explained to him what we needed; two trees trimmed in our front. Tommy explained he would survey the work in the next few days and call me with a quote. I never heard from him again. Very disappointed in the no call-back.

Tommy answered my call when I called his company and made the appointment. On the day of the appointment I had to call him when the time passed for his appointment. He came approximately 30 minutes later. He jumped right into the recommendations for my needs as soon as I explained my yard and tree situation. I was very impressed with his experience as we went around and looked at the trees that I needed to have trimmed. We did not have to spend much time on discussing what needed to be done because I immediately found that Tommy and I were on the same page with regard to the preservation of the beauty of the trees vs. the need to make sure that the trimming included the preservation of the grass by letting in more sunlight. I liked that he would be on site with the crew for the job so I would not have to worry about supervising the work. Because I felt very confident with his experience, I would have liked to have hired him and his crew, but his bid was higher than the other two I received. I am sure he and his team would have done an excellent job but the price was out of the range of my budget.

I called Tommy on Tuesday morning to get an estimate for the removal of two tree stumps. The stumps were from trees that had been planted entirely too close to the house by the previous owner. Tommy sent someone out to the house that afternoon and called me with the estimate. He said that if I wanted, the stumps could be removed at that moment (his employee was just waiting to hear back). Due to the proximity of the stumps to the foundation, it required both the grinder and manual removal. By the time I arrived home that afternoon, it was as if the trees and stumps had never been there. I was impressed with the timeliness and quality of the work.

Today is Sunday, Labor Day weekend - everyone is out and unavailable. When I called Tommy's Tree Service, Tommy answered and I explained our situation - neighbor's tree broke and a huge limb (about 1 foot in diameter) fell and crashed through the fence, and the tree top was leaning on the power lines running to our house. Fortunately, the cable backing up the power lines was holding, but you could see it was just hanging by a small cable. If we lost power, it would be days before the power company would be available over a holiday weekend... Tommy said he was busy with his family, but he would see what he could do. He called back about an hour later, saying he couldn't find any of his crew, who were out for the weekend. His website says 24/7 emergency tree removal. He said he was on his way with a chain saw and would see what he could do to help us out. He showed up on time, and in about 10 to 15 minutes he had the emergency situation resolved. He sawed the tree top limbs away, freeing the power lines. He then went over to the fence, where the limb had crashed through the fence, destroying a 3 foot area. He sawed the large tree limb trunk area, removing the huge piece that was stuck in the fence. This enabled me to patch the fence so our dogs and the neighbors' wouldn't get out. The whole thing took about 20 minutes to resolve the emergency and probably took a couple of hours out of Tommy's Sunday to help us out. He could have charged us for emergency service, but he didn't. He said his crew could be back out on Monday or Tuesday at the latest to remove the tree and debris. Under the circumstances, I thought he treated us fairly, respectfully and responded in a timely manner to a customer in need. I am very thankful that Tommy is here for us! Highly-recommended.

Tommy showed up and provided a careful, friendly description of what he would do. He provided a written estimate. Later he called and we made an appointment for him to come out with his team. Tommy and about five or six workmen did the job. It took a few hours. When they left, the trees were dramatically trimmed, the dying tree was removed, and no mess remained. The bill was for a little less than the estimate and they were good about taking the Angie's List coupon. Throughout, the men and Tommy were polite and professional.

His crew trimmed the trees and cleaned up afterwards. He would always ask me if he he needed something clarified. He was there the whole time as his crew did the work. He was simply wonderful. I will be having him back to do more things

Tommy was responsive and timely, and his crew was well-managed and showed up when they said they would. I am sure I could have shopped the deal and saved some money but I really didn't want to wait on a non-bonded/unisured guy working out of his truck showing up when he could. I don't mind paying for quality, and Tommy did a quality job from start to finish.

They were expensive. They didn’t do any work. The price was way too high. The guy was nice enough.

I requested a quote via Angies List and heard from Tommy within 12 hours. He was able to coordinate a visit for an estimate within a day of his phone call. He told me that if I was comfortable with the pricing, his employee would be able to do the work right away. I agreed to the price and in less than 2 hours, 5 stumps were removed, along with two small ligustrum trees. I asked for 4 stumps to be removed, Juan found a 5th that he was willing to get rid of it at no extra charge. From the time of his arrival to the time he departed, Juan was professional and focused on his work. I would absolutely use this company again and recommend them highly if you are seeking someone that is committed to doing quality work in a timely manner.

Called to get an estimate on a stump removal. Owner was in another city; but had someone call. They came right out, provided reasonable estimate and did the work. The employee was careful not to disturb the yard any more than necessary, cleaned up well and was pleasant to work with.

The entire job took less than three hours. The crew showed up on time, finished the work and cleaned up. The entire job was done very professionally.

They came at the prescribed time. Tommy reviewed the work we had agreed to be done. He conveyed instructions to his men. Tommy seemed very happy to answer all my questions about what they were doing and about certain other trees in particular. His men went right to work, climbing, roping, cutting, cleaning. They cleaned up as they went. It was painless for us. They had brought a wood chipper which remained parked at the curb. I had been interested to see if they would clean up the dust and bits that landed in the street and they did clean up all of it. One would not even know tree trimmers had been here except for the clean and nicely shaped trees. One of the trees, a pine, which is at least sixty feet high had been damaged at the top by Hurricane Ike. Tommy's employee worked his way up the tree to top it off without damaging it.

Very professional, however the most expensive of the 4 quotes I received. I feel his crew would have done a great job if I had chosen them, but their price was almost double the company I went with.

The only reason I did not select them to do the job is because another contractor bid for a lower price. All my questions were answered and I received a quote exactly the way I wanted it (each task with its own price, so I could select the tasks based on my budget and needs). Tree inspector seemed very knowledgeable and even told me which services would be unnecessary. If the contractor that service my trees were not available in the future I will hire them without hesitation.

I had an appointment to get an estimate Tuesday at 6pm and at 5:50 I got a call to reschedule for Thursday, same time. At 6:40pm Thursday I called to find out where the person was and if they were still coming out. The man I spoke to had completely forgotten about the appointment. He wanted to reschedule again and I told him no thank you.

I was surprised to get Tommy on the phone on a Saturday. He happened to be working in the area and stopped by about 20 minutes after I called. Original work scope included removing only the red tip photinias. Crew arrived at appointed time. All stumps were uprooted, holes filled, ground leveled and area cleaned. I was shocked how quickly this was done. Then I asked if they could remove 2 large sago palms--no problem. They used a chain saw to cut down the trunk, then completely dug out both sago palm roots and "babies." Holes were filled in and ground leveled. First off, I was impressed by Tommy's quick response. Then I was even more impressed with how fast his 3-man crew finished the job. From arrival to departure it was 50 minutes. Wow! They did a great job of clean-up and hauled off everything. Now that's old-school service! Removing the red tips would have taken me all day; ditto for the sago palms. Tommy's crew saved me an entire weekend of abhorrent yard work.

They did an excellent job. The prices seemed to be high but I don’t know anything about trees. The job turned out well. They also removed three tree stumps, two from the trees they cut down and one old stump. They ground them down really well. It doesn’t appear that I had any tree there. They did a good job with that. They hauled everything away and cleaned it up well. The cutter had to go up the tree and cut. They had a technique for it. They had to make choices of how to cut it and how to make the ropes. The cutter had a rope tied to his waist. There was one safety rope for him and two other ropes for two or three other fellows. They were at various locations to keep the cut off tree from falling on the house and doing damage. They took care of all that pretty good. I took pictures of all that. Tommy, the owner came up and gave us an estimate. He was honest and professional. However, the price he quoted was a lot of money. I don’t know what the going rates are though. The right thing would be to get more than one estimate before I hired them again. Everything else about them was excellent. I don’t know about the price.

At 2:00 a.m. on a Saturday morning, my 60 year old ash tree split, with a third of the tree crashing down in my yard. The worst of it was that the remaining 2/3 of the three had huge limbs that reached over my roof and my neighbor's roof. I was worried that the rest of the tree would fall at any time. I googled for emergency tree services and found two companies that offered 24/7 emergency response. I called both at 8:00. When I hadn't heard back by 11:00 I joined Angie's List and found Tommy's Tree Service. I called him a little before noon on Saturday. He answered right away and said he could be at my house in an hour. When he was running a few minutes late, he called to let me know. He came, assessed the damage, gave me an estimate on tree removal, the removal of a small overgorwn and dying holly tree and some other pruning work. When he learned how worried I was about the remaining limbs on the ash tree, he said he could have a crew at my house at 4:00 that afternoon to at least remove the large part of the tree (yes, on Saturday.) They returned, cut the tree down at the base and hauled away all the large limbs. They returned first thing Monday to complete the work. Everything looks great, and best of all I could rest easy over that downed tree. The price was fair and everything was done professionally. They pruned my elm tree and did a beautiful job. The tree is perfectly shaped.

The owner was very responsive and very courteous and the work was cordial and service was timely.

Tommy, was professional, timely, and responsive to my phone calls. I told him, I found out about his company from the August issue of Angie's List. The trees look great !
