We had been securing estimates, but all were too high. Our neighbor suggested Texas Fence Company, and we were happy that they did. They were half the cost of the other estimates. We had a little concern about how to prepare the area around the fence and the utility markers, but Texas Fence answered all our questions. They came in the morning and were finished by 4:00 p.m. I was surprised at the speed of their workmen. The fence is still good after nine months. We were extremely pleased with their professionalism and quality of the materials.

I called and left a pretty detailed message about getting a gate repaired and a section of my fence finished. I did not receive a call back, perhaps they didn't receive my message and to be honest I didn't call back a second time.  Could have been a glitch in the recording or maybe I didn't leave a call back number (unlikely but possible).
Response from Texas Fence

"Member, I just checked our records and we do not have any message from you. We would have loved to help you with your fence and gate needs. I appologize for your frustrations in this, please call us if we can help."

They did a great job.  Quote was competitive, showed up on time, completed in proposed time, called with any issues before they moved ahead with the project. They hit a sprinkler line which was not discovered until after completion and they fixed at no change.  Very professional

"Thank you for the excellent review. We really appreciate your business."

I solicited bids from 2 companies and Texas Fence provided the best offer.  The process of determining what needed to be done, development of a quote, revision of same to reflect different and better materials, and the scheduling of the work was very smooth and professionally handled.  The two gentlemen who did the work were very efficient and capable.  The fence materials and installation quality are just what I hoped for.

I needed wrought iron fence installed in my back yard to secure the pool. I shopped around and got three bids. It took the sales person a while to get back to me but he was very responsive during the rest of the process. Texas Fence was about 15% cheaper than the other two companies although I had to hire a locator per Texas Fence's request which costed me additional $150. Installation was completed in two days instead of one day as they promised but the installation crew did a very good job. At the end, the fence looks great, I spent less money for it and I dealt with good people during the entire process. I would recommend them to others without any hesitation.

Paul was my outside sales person and Ashley was my inside contact , they both were very friendly and helpful through out this
job. We had several changes as we moved forward because we had other work being performed ( i.e. concrete driveway,
landscaping, sprinklers, ect.) And Ashley keep me posted on cost changes and fence drawings change as we changed our minds
on fence detail as we moved forward with our remodel project. But the bottom line is the fence is beautiful and all of our gates even the 10' double work perfectly. Everyone that comes over makes a positive comment on our new fencing .  Texas Fence did a great job and the crew cleaned up everything before leaving which was after dark.

Thanks Again,

Kevin

I found Tammy in the office to be exceptional. I probably asked for 4-5 different bids over the period of a couple of months and she was always gracious and timely. She also kept me very informed about scheduling. As the other poster mentioned, they do prefer to have a deposit check mailed, but we had such a short turn around time that she arranged for someone to pick up the check from my home the DAY BEFORE the job was to start. The price was absolutely the best I found anywhere. And I got a lot of bids. In fact, the price was SO much better I was worried that the quality wouldn't be good ... but not the case. I did call for references and the ones I got were glowing. The workers on the site did a great job. Vicki and her team were fantastic, even when faced with a few challenges. The fence is beautiful. The only complaint I have is that a project manager called me at the end of day 1 and recommended some changes to the build. But when I got home the next day, those agreed upon changes weren't implemented. Turns out the project manager "forgot" to tell the crew about any of the changes. I wasn't very happy about that (which is why I rated professionalism a "B")... but the crew was following the plan I had signed with Tammy - so I really couldn't fault them. After several phone calls from another project manager and from Tammy (who gave me her personal numbers as well), we all compromised on how to finish the job. They stayed until 10:30 pm to finish the job the night before Christmas Eve so that I would have a fence for the holidays. I'd say that's real commitment. Fine company that I recommend wholeheartedly - as long as you work with Tammy and Vicki! Thanks Texas Fence!

Texas Fence Co. did a good job on our fence and at a better price than most competitors, but there were several difficulties dealing with the company and especially their customer service representative. My wife and I just bought a new house and needed to replace the fence, which was old and falling apart. We got several estimates from Houston fencing companies, and Texas Fence easily had the best price. Since a friend of mine highly recommended them, I trusted their quality and went with them. We share this fence with three other neighbors, and they were interested in repairing most of their fence as well. There ended up being 7 houses involved with Texas fence on one job. It took a while to sort this out (2 months total), and it was difficult to deal with the representative from Texas Fence on this. They were slow to respond, made mistakes on the estimate, and made the process difficult overall. The day before I was ready to sign the final contract, the representative from Texas Fence told me she had made a mistake on my estimate and had to add an extra $150 for the cost of a gate that she hadn't previously included. This is after more than a month of discussing the work with her. One of the main reasons I chose Texas Fence was because they were cheaper, but it was too late to go with a different company at this point because 7 houses were involved. In any case, they were still cheaper, and I think she was correct about the mistake, so I signed the contract with the new estimate. They do accept credit cards, but they try to avoid taking credit cards and prefer each person mail them a check, which complicates the process and makes everything take longer. The rep at first told me that they would not be starting on our house first (we were in the middle of several houses they would be working on), but then the week before the work started she said that ours would be first. But then they didn't work on our house first. They worked on part of our house, but then moved on to other homes before coming out to our house to finish up. This is an example of poor organization and poor communication between people at the office and people doing the work. Texas Fence was quick to do the work. They came out a week after everyone had signed their contracts and paid their deposits. The work was completed in less than a week. The quality of the work is very good - I got a well built fence like I expected. However, there was one piece of fence which they neglected to build. This piece of fence was not in the signed contract, but I had called the representative prior to the work being started and let her know that it should be included. She said it wouldn't be a problem, but then forgot to include this in the contract and the work was not completed. Later, she said that she did not recall this at all. This is another example of poor organization and communication between the field team and the office staff- they have one person handling all the contracts, and she is not very organized or quick to respond. When we got our final invoice, it was higher than the contract we had signed. I pointed this out to the rep, and she said that again there were mistakes in the original contract regarding the length of the fence. She had trouble calculating 60 % of $15, and didn't believe me when I told her it was $9. She had originally calculated $8.10 and then was positive it was $8.50. I agreed to pay $9/foot for one section of fence for which I was supposed to pay 60 % (at $15 per foor), but told them that I would not pay any other additional costs. They agreed, and they also came out the following week and built that extra piece of fencing that I had requested at a resonable cost (no trip charge or extra fees added). In the end, my experience with Texas Fence was not very good. I think the work they did was of good quality and their field team is great, but their customer service and office staff is unprofessional and disorganized. The one rep I dealt with made it difficult for the work to get scheduled and complete. She was not very organized, not very responsive, and generally unfriendly. Texas fence got a lot of business from us - they got to repair the fence on over 7 different houses - but they never offered any sort of discount or made the process easy for us. The customer service rep did not seem happy to have the opportunity to be bringing in more work, and she was oftentimes annoyed - annoyed that she had to deal with so many different houses/opinions, annoyed that we insisted that each house pay their own deposit and sign their contract (they wanted us to pay the full deposit and collect from our neighbors), and annoyed that I insisted on clarity and consistency, especially regarding prices they had promised. I wish I could give Texas Fence a better review because I do believe that the person in charge - Tim - is very knowledgable and friendly, but I was typically communicating with another rep at Texas Fence who was not knowledgable or friendly. As much as I liked the final result and the price I paid, I would not use Texas Fence again since it was much too difficult overall.
Response from Texas Fence

"Dear Member, In response to your comments, I would first like to say as the office manager here at Texas Fence, I do everything in my power to insure the satisfaction of each and every customer. I even gave you my personal cell phone number so that you could even contact me after hours. I feel that your comments regarding my customer service is out of line considering how detailed and complex the fence project was for you and your neighbors. Anytime there are several houses involved in a project and there are splits in costs between neighbors, I make sure to give each individual my undivided attention to their needs as well as yours. As I stated in the beginning when you requested I split the costs between neighbors, everyone must be on board and completely satisfied before we can begin construction and this takes time. Considering there were seven neighbors and eight different fence types and heights, each change that was made affected all seven proposals and revisions had to be made each time. I believe since you stated that once construction began that it took less than a week to complete. This was possible because of my extensive communication with our workers and all the home owners as well as the accuracy of what was to be done differently at each house. I do agree that many revisions had to be made to your proposal because of all the individual needs of your neighbors and the split amounts changing which made things difficult to understand at times. A few mistakes were made and corrections had to be done during this revision process but in the end before construction began, everything was accurate and went off without a hitch. We even came back out to your residence to complete a small piece of fence that was never on your proposal or the diagram you signed without any additional trip charges to insure your satisfaction. Please note that a special discounted price was given to ALL of your neighbors, not just you for the amount of work done. Thank you for your compliments on the fence quality, price and professionalism of our workers and supervisory staff."
