I called about four weeks later and scheduled a time. On the install date, I had to call the office to find out the time the crew would arrive, most home workpeople I have used usually leave a message the day before or call you in the morning of the day the work is scheduled, always a nice touch.
The crew arrived on time, two installers. I walked them through the house so they could see the work to be done. They got to work right away with little noise or fuss. They methodically worked their way through the house doing all the windows. In the Bedroom I had to take down the shades and drapes, and when done they put them back. They bagged all the plastic they peeled off the film to be stuck on the window, laid absorbent cloth on the window sills to catch the water used to install the film. When done they removed all the waste instead of trying to put it in my trash. One installer filled me in on when the 3M written warranty would arrive, gave me instructions on what to expect over the next 45 days and cautioned me about cleaning the film until that time period had passed so that all the moisture between the film and window had evaporated, and encouraged me to call if there were any questions or issues.
After they left I did a tour through all the windows and found some strips of plastic film on the ground. I found that one small window in the bathroom had not been done. I called the office and they promptly turned the installers around who came back and were apologetic and did the remaining window. Later, I found more small strips of film on the ground, which concerned me as the film is sharp (both installers had cuts and were bandaids when done) and I have a small, inquisitive dog that excels at finding things like this. I also discovered that the frame around the glass in the back door that had to be removed to install the film did not have all the screws put back in, and there were some large paint chips scattered on the floor (see above about dog). While I am not surprised that removing a painted in frame would end up with chips, I would expect either them to be cleaned up or it brought to my attention. I also found one of the windows where they had unlocked it and raised it to make it easier to install the film had been closed, but not re-locked. The install on the windows looks precise and clear, with no loose ends or flaws.
Overall it went well and I am satisfied. The installers were efficient and prompt in completing the work, and they were methodical on the install and did it to very tight tolerances consistently. I would have given and "A" had not the window been left unlocked, the frame left with uninstalled screws, and the assorted plastic strips and paint chips at the backdoor had not happened. I would recommend that anyone doing such work do a completion walk-through before the installers leave.
"Thanks for buying your film from us. If we can be of any help in the future, don't hesitate to call. your salesperson is no longer with the company. Feel free to ask for me. Thanks, Rick Carter Sales Supervisor"
