In the beginning things progressed well. The work began April 3 and the work seemed to go quickly. Sean was great about communicating, until about 2 weeks in. His workers stopped showing up, he would only communicate via text. The work was only supposed to take 3 1/2 to 4 weeks and I moved out of the house April 18th so they could do both bathrooms at the same time. For weeks no progress was made. There was a hard end date in sight as Sean was scheduled to have surgery May 31. I stupidly paid him additional money to get the job completed before his surgery date, and no one showed up. I send a good faith letter, which was ignored. When I texted him on Sun June 3 to let him the due date had passed and he would need to pay for someone else to complete the work, suddenly the entire reason the job hadn't been completed because of his surgery. I requested a refund of the money I gave him to complete the job, that obviously wasn't used for my house. He refused and was quick to state I had fired him, he had not abandoned the job and that they were ready to work Monday. My home has been unlivable since April 18. Not a single room was completed. He did have time to go fishing, hunting and finish someone else's project. I've had to hire another company to complete the work and intend to take him to court for the difference, not that it seems that matters. I've also contacted local news consumer protection advocates to try to help. When I hired him, his company was Quality Handyman Services, I'm not sure if this has changed. Don't just beware.... Stay far far away!!!

Like the other complaints Sean starts off great, and a couple of weeks into it, he starts managing the project through texting and calls. He basically showed up only when he wanted money. Excluding two of his workers, the rest of his crew were in-experienced, and I basically became the GC on my own project, because from all the errors that occurred. The real problem came when we started the back patio, where it became apparent after 60 days into it, that Sean's guys, and the new guys he hired had no business building a patio. Nothing was up to code, Several costly errors were made, and Sean wouldn't make the corrections. There were three occasions that Sean hired day labor help, promised to come by at the end of the day to pay them, and never showed up, leaving me to deal with these people for payment. One of those occasions, he went fishing instead. Sean walked off the job Dec 2016, leaving me an unfinished, and unsafe project that needed completion. I had to hire a real crew, pay several thousand dollars in labor and materials, materials that I had already paid for over and above what Sean took, and he was and is still is unwilling to refund an amount that we agreed to. HARVEY VICTIMS, if you're still searching for a contractor, BEWARE OF SEAN AUSTIN (Quality Handyman Services) if he shows up at your door.

BEWARE!  I DO NOT RECOMMEND SEAN AUSTIN!!!
I hired Sean Austin and his crew to do home remodeling work for me in Katy. The work took months longer than promised, was very poor quality and his crew did considerable damage to my home. Sean refused to correct or repair the damage.
I hired Sean because he stated that he was licensed, bonded and insured however once damages began to occur and I got suspicious, he refused to produce documentation.
His "Licensed Electricians" incorrectly and dangerously (as per John Moore Electricians) installed electrical and his "Licensed Plumbers" incorrectly installed plumbing. I asked to see their licenses  however Sean continuously failed to present them.  I had to hire John Moore Plumbing and Repair to rip everything out and re-install everything to code.  This cost thousands of dollars.
My experience with Sean Austin was a nightmare and every time I tried to get resolution he would yell profanities and make threats.
To top things off, his crew showed up at my door several times claiming that they had not been paid by Sean and they threatened to file a lien on my property.  They said Sean had not paid any of them and said that he had purchased a truck with the money I paid him.
I proved payment to Sean and they finally left.  I then went directly to an attorney which ended in a lawsuit against Sean Austin. This of course, cost thousands of dollars but did result in a Judgement against Sean Austin.
I won the lawsuit but to date I have not seen any damages paid.
Sean Austin works in west Houston.
Buyer beware.

November 20th 2013: Had dealings with Sean Austin. He was very nice and personable. Work was substandard. Harassing phone calls and threats. Police and DA involved.

They showed up on time the first day and the demo of the first bathroom went fine (though they didn't protect the carpet). After that, nothing went as planned. The two young men he had working the job had been with him only a few weeks, and it turned out he had hired them from a Greensheets ad. Much to my surprise, given the recommendations I'd read on our neighborhood message board, Sean is not a licensed contractor, is not insured, and does not have a licensed plumber or electrician on staff. The materials were consistently not delivered until I called and harrassed him to get them there. Even when the workers were there on time, they did not have the equipment or materials to proceed. After endless calls, he might finally bring one part, but then have to make 3 more trips to Lowe's to get the rest, if he ever did. And he would say "I'm on my way" or "I'm at Lowe's right now," when it was easy to verify (he lives in the neighborhood) that he wasn't. Substandard work was done. No vapor barrier was put on the tile surround, and the wall is not even and slants out, since the hardiboard was not put on right. He had to subcontract a tile guy from another company when I complained enough, to get the work complete enough for me to finish myself, 2 weeks after he said the whole project (both bathrooms and all pipes) would be done. I fired him after the first bathroom was to a point where I could finish it myself. They hooked up the toilet to the hot water, so the hot water heater runs every time someone flushes the commode. My boyfriend had to fix the plumbing under the sink. In addition, I had given him a deposit up front for the granite countertops and it was apparent when it came time for delivery that he had not forwarded the deposit to the granite contractor, everything was delayed as he had to come up with the deposit, before the granite guy would even start fabrication. In the end, because there was no order, I accepted a different granite and different edge than I had ordered, just to get them out of my life forever. It was an awful experience.

Horrible. Sean Austin never completed the work. He continuously lied to us. The project was drug out over a period two and a half months, so that we could get some of the money's worth we paid him upfront. His idea of demo work was to drop off a couple of guys with a claw hammer and let them sit there for a while until they got bored and left. Never, ever again.
