Very professional, personable, and responsive. May use for later projects
We decided to use a different landscape contractor because project was started and completed a few weeks after first meeting and the estimate was significantly lower.
"We appreciate that the [removed members name] felt we were professional and plan to work with us in the future. They are a pleasant couple and we enjoyed coming up with an innovative design that complemented both their pool and house, met all their needs and would be very low maintenance with something in bloom nearly year round. We do inform all our clients from the 1st contact that we have a waiting list of 2-3 months year round and work on a first come first served basis no matter the size of the job. We are responding here because we feel this review is a bit misleading. We first met them at their home on the 1st of November. Talked through what they wanted and needed and then took lots of photos and measurements. We got back to them within two weeks to schedule a meeting to go over our design and talk about the plants and materials and what we imagined. This was on the 17th of November. They took home our proposal with every aspect broken down and priced separately so if they wanted to do it in stages they could plan. We gave them ideas of extra things that would make the back yard more functional and pleasing knowing that it might not be something to do on this pass. They told us via email they loved the design and were ready to move forward but would like to meet again to go over some changes. So we had a 3rd meeting the 8th of December. Following up this 3rd meeting we sent out a revised proposal. There was no charge for any of this! There were a few more emails and in January we heard from them again say they are ready to start. By this time we were booked up until the beginning of March. They let us know they could not wait this long and were tired of living with the dirt that kept blowing into their pool which had been finished in September. We honor our queue and at any time they could have put down a deposit to get into it even if they were not sure of the scope of the work they wanted to start with. We are well known for and do quality work with great designs and customers queue up to work with us! We won the People’s Choice award in the Leader last year as best in the category of Landscaping and Nurseries. And this has further increased people seeking us out! As to price that is difficult to know if you are comparing apples to apples. We only use quality materials and source our plants from local growers that have very healthy good sized plants. We feel it is worth the extra cost to do it right from the beginning, especially since the biggest cost in landscaping is labor. We don’t cut corners and we have a highly trained crew. We have a service to come back to do maintenance on properties we have done installs for and we find that our plants and hardscapes with stand the test of time and climate. We hope if you are reading this that you have found it useful!"
They came out and looked at what I wanted promptly, looked at what I needed, and promptly wrote me back that they were really a small boutique company. They offered to design a garden for someone else to do and supervise a contractor. They did give me some ball-park estimates for what I should expect to pay.
I think they'd be a good company for someone with a home with a small yard or a townhouse. However, for a large project, I wouldn't bother spending the time because they are just one of the many companies I talked to that don't want to get involved in a very large project. Otherwise, I think they'd be wonderful/
Shawn and Laurin patiently waited and worked with us on the design and answering our questions from April 2012 (when we first contacted them) until January 2013 when the work began. We had other work that needed to be done before they started (downspouts and sewer line).
They always answered our questions or addressed our concerns quickly and never blinked when we made last minute changes. Shawn was always available by cell, SMS text message, email, Facebook, or Twitter. Probably the most electronically connected contractor out there.
When we had a sprinkler fail, Shawn was out the next morning to fix it. When we had two plants struggling, Shawn came out the same day (Saturday) to adjust the watering level.
We're impressed with the sophistication of irrigation controller they installed (its current capability and its ability to expand to 16 zones and a weather station), the high-end nature of the RPZ (backflow preventer), and the use of 8 irrigation zones on a relatively small lot to provide ultimate control and flexibility for watering. Ravenscourt even ran a zone for a future hedge in a location that needs one.
Their choice of a new type of St. Augustine (Amerishade) was genius for our shady backyard.
Overall it was a near perfect experience working with Ravenscourt Landscaping and I would highly recommend them to anyone.
Once I saw my front garden, I began to plan for a larger garden to be installed in the back yard in the spring of 2012. This time, Laurin designed with the cottage garden style in mind. She worked with established plants, such as the roses, ferns, and holly trees, but added additional annuals and perennials. Also, they installed a fountain in the center of my patio and surrounded it with river rocks and lilies. The look is lovely. However, my dogs happily began to dig in this delightful new spot. Laurin and Shawn came up with a solution. Some of the beds are now surrounded by waist high, wrought iron fences that look as if they are straight out of an English garden. I could not be happier with my new gardens. Working with Ravenscourt Landscaping was a delight.
I now use their maintenance service and have them come regularly to weed, feed, mulch, and plant new beds with each season. I feel that I got more than my money?s worth. And I smile every time I look at my garden.
