I would be quite wary. In my past experience, company's that insist on selling you the equipment as well as the service, and will not provide the service separately, are basing their financial model on some sort of deal with the equipment manufacturer. In other words, you're not getting as good a deal from them as you could. Of course, I have no actual knowledge of this in this case, but my suspicions have been highly aroused, and I would advice fellow Angie's listers to carefully review their options when dealing with Quality Generators.
After a delay of 4 months waiting in approval from the HOA . Quality Generator installed and connected the backup generator on the days they scheduled the work to be done. The work was much more complicated that I thought .The simplest part of the installation was the placement of the generator itself on a concrete slab they poured. Then came the plumbing and the coordinating with Centerpoint all that was involved with the natural gas lines. Then the electrical installation and the hook ups and coordinating the the connection with TXU Energy.
They were very professional and the project was completed on time as scheduled. I was impressed with the job Quality Generator did at my home and my neighbors are very curious about the genarator. I would refer Quality Generator to any interested persons.
I actually had the concert pad set and poured the very next week before I could get the document in the contract as to where the pad would go. Verbally I knew, but I felt uncomfortable with nothing in writing. I had talked to Mike and he said they were having problems with the program.
I also wanted the model number of the Generator, since Generac had several choices. I verbally talked to someone in Quality Generators, but never could get in in writing, I talked about different options, but they put in what they put in. I really would have liked a more detailed with model number on the contract like the other vendors offerred. I feel like their contracts are weak.
When the team came out to install gas line, they accidentally broke a water pipe, but the plummer fix it that day. I found out from my 17 y.o. daughter several hours into the situation instead of someone from the team letting me know.
Sunshine who works with you, as to coordination of the project was Great!! She was able to coordinate Centerpoint to come out to my house on friday 6/28/13 (My 21 y.o. daughter only home from work Monday and Fridays, I work M-F and could not be home 4:30pm) for inspection. She then coordinated with her team to install all electrical components Monday 7/1/13. At around 5:15pm I had a gentleman review, the system, how it works, where to put oil, change filter. He then had my complete payment sign off everything, with the electrical ditch still open. He said he would come 7/2/13 and fill it in. No one came on 7/2/13 or 7/3/13 after contacting Sunshine. The inspector came out on friday 7/5/13 before electrical ditch was filled in. Basically I had an open ditch Monday-Friday in my yard.
The side of the house with the gas line, and water pipe was broken is remaining moist. I call Sunshine and she does have plumbers come out to inspect it. (7/8/13) I was informed that is is the low level ground settling and run off from my roof. I have always had run off, but would be dry by lunch, never saw moisture in that area from run off in the afternoon.
If you call for any concerns Sunshine does actively send a representative out to address your concerns. I am still monitoring that area, also they put the dirt from the gas ditch against the side of my house, left the dirt on the house which the gentelman from 7/1/13 said he would clean 7/2/13, but since he never came out when they colsed the electrical ditch that team must not have know my concern. A representative, Dakota came out 7/10/13 to level dirt, and clean house. It is still showing on the brick where the dirt was, Sunshine said someone would come out to work on it again
Then to top it off we had a service issue just recently. I contacted the 1-800 service number and got message gave the impression that if the power wasn't out don't bother to leave a message call during regular business hours. I called the next day and talked with the service representative and got a request for more information. I called back that night and left here a message on her voice mail as instructed and waited. Two days later I had to call them back. It turned out the service representative was in the hospital and there was no one to back her up. Finally she had to call from her sick bed and was understandably gruff and unprofessional. The issue had been schedule to be repaired the next day but again no call.
We chose this company over the one that was much closer to the where we live because they had been in business longer and the salesman said that they had a great working relationship with Center Point so we wouldn't see delays like ones we had. Also we thought they were professional organization that wouldn't fall apart when one person called in sick. Over all the workmanship of the final product was good and the workman were professional and friendly but the lack of communication was what ruined the experience for us.
"We appreciate customers bringing issues to our attention. Our goal as a company is to provide quality customer service. We have resolved this issue within the company and apologize for any inconvenience that was caused during the process."
