+ -1 morePrevious homeowner had used this company. They scheduled a service app't in two days, and the technician arrived as scheduled. He accomplished the indicated repairs and everything seemed to be working. The door had been bent the week before, and I straightened it fairly well. The technician advised that, if the door continued to buckle, it would need replacement. The system worked correctly through several cycles, then buckled again under slight tension. I then called my homeowner's warranty company to send out their contractor.
Description of Work: Replaced broken parts (trolley, connecting arms) on Lift-Master screw-drive garage door opener. Adjusted tension and tested door. Parts and tax are almost half of the costs indicated.

+ -1 moreThey did the work, but I have three complaints: 1. their system of not giving you an appointment time until the day of the service call is not convenient for customers 2. the technician called right before my appointment time and tried to reschedule for the next day, which I consider unprofessional (I was not scheduled for the end of the day) 3. they did NOT honor their Angies's List coupon, claiming that it was an installation, not service. If they had honored their coupon instead of playing word games with me, they would have had a happy customer instead of an unhappy one. I pointed that out at the time but I guess having satisfied customers is not that important to them.
Description of Work: They replaced a garage door opener because the old one broke. I wanted it to be compatible with the others at my home; they did not carry that brand so I purchased one for them to install.

+ -1 moreCalled Monday morning early as garage door spring had broken over the weekend. They were completely booked on Monday, but said they would put me down for Tuesday. Both my husband and I work so I asked them if I could have a morning time as I had a afternoon meeting scheduled that would not allow me to be at home from 2-3 She said they could not confirm times until the morning of. So Tuesday morning I got a call that I returned within 30 min to schedule. Was told the only time they could come was between 2-4. Asked for another time and she said that was the only option until Thursday at which point they would call me Thursday morning to set the time. Aargh!!! Get the idea. I am sure this company does a fine job as their reviews attest, however unless you can clear your schedule or work around theirs day of it is probably not a good match for you as it was not for me. The woman I spoke to on the phone was just matter of fact and not particularly friendly or accommodating.

+ -1 moreOriginal quote was given over phone for standard double car garage door. When I measured it, our opening was a unique size. This delayed the job by one week as a special door had to be ordered. The installer showed up when promised, completely removed the old door and tracks, installed a new door and tracks, and made sure my garage door opener was working before he left. A great experience.
Description of Work: Replaced old wooden extra large garage door with new aluminum door.

Description of Work: I have to get three estimates for an insurance claim, and they wanted to charge me thirty dollars for an estimate. sorry Im not going to pay that. If i paid evey estimate i needed that would come out to $90 -$100.00 and since i am getting three jobs done that would be $300. right out the gate not to include my deductable.....sorry call me cheap but thats not going to happen at all.....

+ -1 moreI was satisfied with the work from start to finish. They did what they said they would do and in the time frame and for the price we discussed. I would certainly use this company again.
Description of Work: My garage door stopped working on a Sunday, March 20. I picked this service from the choices on Angie's List because they had 24-hour emergency service and I was unable to get the door down. By the time the emergency service returned my call I had gotten the door down and did not need the emergency service. So I made an appointment for the following week. They were already booked up for Monday, but had Tuesday or Wednesday available. However, they could not guarantee morning or afternoon and since I had a doctor's appointment in the afternoon had to delay until Wednesday. The service man called early Wednesday morning, as they promised, and said he would be here between 2 and 4 pm. He showed up exactly at 4. He very quickly told me the motor was burned out (it was probably over 20 years old) and that a new one would be ordered. The following Tuesday was the earliest I could get it. Again, I had a doctor's appointment and had to delay until Wednesday. They called early Wednesday morning and said they would be at my house between 10:30 and 11:30. They were here early, about 10:15. There were two installers. They went right to work and had the new motor installed quickly. I had asked the first serviceman if he would be the person installing the new motor. He said no, it would be a guy with a Spanish accent who was very good at his job. I was afraid I would not be able to understand any instructions. However, there was no problem at all. Though he did have an accent, he was very easy to understand. When he demonstrated the operation of the door he was very thorough and very clear. In fact, it was one of the better explanations I have had from a serviceman. The price was what had been quoted and I could have paid by check or credit card. I would have liked to have had the work done a little sooner (door went out March 20, was fixed March 30) but that was partly my fault and because we had to wait for the motor. I really have no idea how their prices compare to those of other companies as I did no comparison shopping but I was pleased by the final results.

+ -1 moreOur garage door suddenly broke with one car stranded inside. I went to Angie's list and found the (Original) Overhead Garage Door Co. and called them on a Sunday mid-afternoon. Raul returned the call within an hour and got us started. He offered an emergency service for $50 more than normal but we deferred to wait until Monday. See input above.
Description of Work: Didn't actually contract with this company to do work but from the initial contact to the followup and estimate, they impressed me very much. I would have hired them except another company beat them to the business. They're on my list if I need help.

Description of Work: My garage door would not open. The manual lever would not release either. Tom showed up less than 24 hours after my call. He completed the repairs in under an hour. A few parts were replaced and the unit was tightened to the ceiling. They lubed all of the wheels and joints. The door is running smoother and better than I have seen it since buying the property.

The gentleman came a little earlier than expected (since it was already after hours), the spring was replaced and the rest of the broken items fixed, and the door is incredibly quiet now when opening and closing. Plus since I had to pay an emergency fee I expected the cost to be at least $100 more.
Description of Work: I heard a bang and didn't know what it was. When I was leaving my house the garage door didn't open and I noticed the spring was broken in two pieces, the pulleys had snapped, and one beam holding the tracks to the roof had disconnected. I called Overhead after looking at Angie's List and they came the same night and fixed everything.

Most importantly, had they said I needed a new door, we would have bought one but sales rep Larry ( who was super) said a repair would work fine. These guys are my new garage door folks. They were on time and the service was exceptional. All I can say is "Use these guys!" Lastly, they were not only recommended by Angie's List but also by an independent contractor who has worked for someone in my family for over 30 years.
Description of Work: Technician straightened the track rail and installed a new roller. Job was perfect.... like the damage never happened.

Description of Work: I called on monday to make an appointment for an estimate. i was told i had an appointment at 130pm the next day. no one showed up on tuesday. i called again wed. morning to see what had happened, and got the response, "it was raining, and i had other things to take care of". No one called to say they couldn't make the appointment, not even a "sorry, something came up". Super poor.

My sales rep, Larry asked a lot of questions and did a great job of describing in detail their products and which one would best fit our need. The installers were prompt and very patient, as I was dealing with a gutter install, pest control contractor and landscaper all at the same time, but they waited to let me know the work was complete and allowed me to inspect it before paying them. The doors are so quite it is amazing. I would highly recommend this company to everyone.

I arranged for replacement doors through The Overhead Garage Door Company because the company had been a long-time recommendation of Tom Tynan, a contractor who advised consumers and do-it-yourselfers on home improvement. The Overhead Garage Door Company representative called me the morning of the installation, told me when the installer would be at my home to install the doors, and he arrived promptly--in fact a bit earlier than promised. The workman took out the old doors and the lifting system, installed new springs, lifting system, doors, locks, weatherstripping and trim. He worked proficiently and completed the task within a few hours. He thoroughly cleaned the area and hauled away the old materials. I was extremely pleased with Overhead Garage Door Company and would gladly recommend them to anyone needing garage door replacement.

He was friendly and new exactly what he was doing; he had knowledge and knew exactly what was wrong with the garage door, so alot of time was not wasted. He replaced the wheels and springs, oiled it, which fixed the garage door. He also installed a safety wire that wasn't there before, which I wasn't aware of that I needed. He went above and beyond.The cost included parts and labor. Now it's like a brand new garage door opener; it's quiet as a mouse. The work was done in a timely manner. Overall, I'm satisfied with their services.

+ -1 moreCalled and received estimate over phone, work scheduled quickly and met my time constraints. That was really good. However, the technician arrived over 3 hours late on scheduled day of install. Late notice not given until AFTER timeframe had passed. The technician did not have the correct address, the company made some error and sent him to the wrong address. A phone call was made to the company, who apologized. Really a discount to the services should have been offered. I was on a tight schedule that day and was really constrained by the delays. The technician installed the door buttons very sloppily, there are cracks and holes in the sheetrock around control on the wall. Mystifying as the house was blocked for the garage door opener and the necessary cuts to the sheetrock existed (and were clean prior to install). Trash and extra bolts were left lying on the floor after the installation. This is a shame, have hired this company before and was very pleased. This time not so much so.

I ended up buying a whole new opener, which he said was top of the line. I'm not sure I needed that, but I didn't want to take a chance on the 10 yr old one left behind. + -1 moreThe service man was extremely punctual and kept me appraised of his arrival time. The door was making horrible screeching noises. He adjusted the brackets and heavily greased everything that moved. The door now operates quietly. 2 issues though..1st was his appearance - not professional, long hair in pony tail, pants unzipped, generally sloppy look. 2nd..he offered to replace the rollers on his own time and his own invoice type of arrangement. Not involve the Overhead Door company. That was not cool.
