Diagnosed blockage in refrigerant lines causing freezing.  Decided to replace rather than repair.

A/C went out Friday night of Memorial Day weekend.  Saturday morning, called several of the "big guys" who advertise emergency service; they were either totally unavailable or wanted nearly $300 just to make a service call.  Found Dennis McGregory on Angies List and gave him a call around 9:30.  He said he'd be here between 12:30 and 1:30, and showed up at 12:45.  Performed a few system checks, isolated the problem (capacitor), and repaired it, all in about 30 minutes.  Prompt, courteous and professional, and he fixed the problem.  We're cool again.Given the quick callout and the price of other options, the cost was a little high but not outrageous, imho. 

We called Dennis for an emergency caused by a dripping AC on Sunday around 11:45.  He was here in less than an hour.  AMAZING!  He did charge us extra to skip his line of customers but I can't complain, it is my first home and I really wanted someone to come by and take a look.  It was an easy fix (drain clog) and Dennis also did a check on my overall AC condition.  He was very knowledgeable and responsive to my questions, you can also tell that he cares about doing quality work.  I will DEFINITELY use him again, hopefully on a non-emergency issue.

Was able to get him to come over on the weekend and he took a look at everything in my home inspection report. Came on time, did the jobs quickly and gave good advice on what was needed and what was not necessary. Very satisfied.

Answered his phone on a saturday night. Showed up early on Sunday morning. Was prompt, professional, friendly. Explained the issue and did the work quickly.

this guy was terrific (I think it was McGregor himself) - first off, he was EARLY - how often does that happen?  also quick, friendly and knowledgeable - I wasn't sure whether this was something I could take care of myself - and even if it was (which it wasn't), it would be worth the money for this guy to come out and check out the system - he clearly has a lot of experience, knows what he is doing, and is friendly to boot - he deserves the trust that comes with an A rating

Contacted Dennis on Saturday afternoon and arranged an appointment for 9:30 AM the following Monday.
Dennis arrived promptly when promised and was able to diagnose the problems within a few minutes; the bearings on the condensing unit fan had failed causing the compressor to shut off. On the second unit there was an electrical short within the compressor itself, requiring its replacement.
I elected to have the condensing unit fan replaced on the first visit; a task which took about an hour. The charges for this service was originally quoted as $450.00 but Dennis reduced the charges by $50 because I had found him on Angie's List. Still I must say the $400 charge for this service felt a little steep.
However, Dennis was very forthright in explaining my options regarding replacement of my existing compressor unit. In the end I elected to replace it with a system which did not force the change out of my freon type which would then have forced the replacement of my inside evaporator coils. Other quotes for this change out I had received the year before all were based on full replacement of the compressor and condenser systems at a price which made me live through last summer with one less working A/C unit in the house.   I was quoted what I felt was a very fair charge for the replacement unit ($1000 installed) and arranged for the unit's replacement the following Thursday. 
Dennis arrived Thursday at the appointed time and installed the new unit without any problems or additional charges.
I think I received a good value for the repairs when considered in total and I will be calling Dennis again when the need arises.

McGregory arrived on time when they said they would and promptly completed the job with no delays.  I have used Mr. McGregory for all our HVAC work for the past nine years.  As always, he is courteous and a pleasure to work with.

Dennis came the same day I called.  He was actually early.  He called to say that he was nearby and asked if he could come early.  He quickly identified the problem - a malfunctioning thermostat.  He had a new one in his truck and was able to replace it in less than an hour.  I will definitely keep his number and call him again.

I called about 11 am New Year's eve.
Dennis said he would come at 2PM.  He did.
He re-did some shoddy work John Moore technicians done on the A/C unit at a fraction of the cost that John Moore had charged.
Dennis was a pleasure to deal with and I certainly would use him again.

Very well. Got good bid from them on Tuesday, had installation done on Thursday. Arrived early, were clean, neat, efficient and priced very well vs other bids and had a discount coupon to boot. Also did not try to "sell up" .

Would definitely consider using again!

It was easy to set up the appointment.  He arrived when he said he would.  He special ordered a part and had it installed in our unit the next day.

He was great.  He gave me a discount and even made the repair on the weekend.  He arrived promptly and was  reasonably priced.  I have no complaints, and I would use him again in the future.

Dennis came highly recommended. He blew out the drain pipes and gave me an estimate of $565 (about $100 less than 2 other estimates). I decided to hire him, and he promised to return in a couple of days for the rest of the work.

He came as promised with 2 helpers, and his helpers did the agreed to work. Since I recently broke my arm, I was unable to get up into the attic to check the work. When I gave him my credit card and a $200 Angie's List discount coupon, Dennis flew off the handle. He said he wouldn't make any money and barely cover his costs. His reaction surprised me, and I told him to forget the coupon and charge me the full amount. However, when he returned from his truck after running my credit card through his machine, he had honored the coupon.

Unfortunately, the ac didn't cool properly. The airflow from the registers was reduced. Because of Dennis's reaction, I didn't want to call him back. Another ac company came and said the flexible ducts had opened and the attic was being air conditioned. There was also something wrong with the plenum. Obviously, the helpers had done a lousy job. I considered disputing the credit card charges and may still do so.

Bottom line: Dennis cost me a lot of time and money, and I would never recommend him.

He does a good job. He is very fast and very thorough. We have always been very happy.

He came the next day and he was very polite.  He did the work and took care of the problem.  He honored the Angieslist coupon.  He basically said that he would be there if we need him. 

We had a problem with our A/C last year (2010) where it was running for a long time.  We called a company  for yearly inspection and they told us the there is a minor leak in the coil.  They filled the Freon and it work fine for the whole year.  This spring when it started to get warm our A/C started to do the same.  We called five companies to come out and give us estimates.  ONE THING WE FOUND OUT THAT NOBODY WANTED TO BREAK DOWN THE PRICE OF EQUIPMENT AND LABOR.  THIS IS THE WAY THIS INDUSTRY WORKS I GUESS.  We met a lot of great SALES PEOPLE who were wanting to sell the whole new system instead of just replacing the coil which was the problem. Everyone told us they were the BEST for installing which is crucial I guess.  I found McGregory A/C to be honest.  The owner Dennis is knowledgeable and does not try to sell unnecessary parts to make more profit.  WE WOULD DEFINITELY  RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY FOR ANY A/C WORK.  

Dennis gave me a good estimate on a new a/c and held my check until AFTER it was installed. He installed it while I was at work and you couldnt tell he had been in the house except for the giant box outside the house and the cool air that worked again. He did a great job and I recommend him.

They did a great job. They arrived on time, finished in one day, and left the place clean when finished.

This is the second time we have used Dennis McGregory to replace our A/C and duct work. His prices are fair and the quality of his work is excellent. He and his men were up in our attic replacing our duct work in over 100 degree weather. He is very prompt to call back and was willing to come by my house at 7pm to check out our broken A/C. We will continue to use Dennis and would definitely recommend his services!

Dennis has been servicing our units for a number of years. He has always been extremely responsive and very fair with his pricing. Of course when we decided to replace the units, we gave Dennis a call. However, he wasn't the only contracted that we contacted. We received several bids from other companies and once again, Dennis gave us the most value for our money. He was in and out within one day and the job was completed. We couldn't be happier with the service we have received this time and all of the past times that we have dealt with McGregory Air Conditioning and Heating. I would highly recommend this company for any job.
