Lone Star Contracting was contacted last September by [removed member name]. He had two separate projects that he wanted pricing for. We provided the estimates to [removed member name], and he decided to move forward with us. As soon as he was asked to sign our standard contractor agreement, issues began to arise. There were constant changes and or ammendemnts that he requested, and basically wanted to write our contract for us. At Lone Star, we always try to make the customer feel comftorable, and establish a trusting relationship. Too often innocent peple are taken advantage of by contractors, and at Lone Star we do anything possible to provide peace of mind for the customer. Unfortunately there are two sides to that coin. As contractors, in the home remodeling business, we too have to take a leap of faith that we will be compensated for our time, efforts, and materials provided. In this particular situation. We were asked to pour an additional "layer" of cement to an existing patio. The new concrete was to drain away from the house, as would only make sense. The existing patio had some drainage issues, and this process was to remedy that. On the day we installed the new patio, which [removed member name] stood watch over inspecting and offering instructions, we cleaned up and left the concrete to cure over night. That next morning, [removed member name] sent an email stating that his overhead irrigation system turned on, and ruined our work. At no cost to [removed member name], we returned, and did our best to make the best of what was now, a bad situation. We applied additional material in areas that were washed out, and had holes from direct overhead water streams. Our suggestion of how to repair the issue was explained and agreed to by [removed member name], prior to any work performed. It was also explained that the drainage may be less than perfect, but it WILL DRAIN. The issue now, eight months later, is still unclear. The patio drains as it should, there is not an issue of water coming inside of the home, and there is no structural cracking or damage. [removed member name] feels that it is Lone Star Contracting's financial obligation to remove the patio. There is a small area that holds about 1/8"-1/4" of water before it begins to drain. We call this a "bird bath." This bird bath would not exist, if the customer had not initially damaged our product. I / we feel that we went above and beyond, to satisfy the customer. There is a difference between standing behind the quality of your work, and being asked to replace your product, due to abuse. We have offered [removed member name] assistance, and discounted labor, but we are met with obscenities, and phone calls that he abruptly ends. Lone Star Contracting stands behind every project we perform. Like anyone else, we will make mistakes, but we are capable, and willing to fix our mistakes. This situation however, is not "our mistake." We are always willing to work with the customer in any situation. This particular customer has made that impossible to do. As far as the "electrical service." We installed a heater/ exhaust fan unit in the bathroom. [removed member name] existing electrical service was already at capacity, and it was explained, that by adding a heater, He would not be able to run every available receptacle, on that circuit at the same time. What he is trying to do, is run the ceiling heater we installed as well, as two additional free standing space heaters on the same circuit. I do not even know what to say about this. Residential electrical circuits have limitations. Again, all of this was explained, and signed off on by [removed member name], but now, eight months later, he is unsatisfied? We are not a company that make a business from being deceitful, or doing sloppy work. We understand that this is not a perfect world, and not everyone will absolutely love there experience with us. That's okay. [removed member name] description of events, are however offensive, and insulting. We take pride in what we do, and we will continue to do so.
