Plumbing, Drain Cleaning + 1 more
I was hearing dripping above my ceiling and my overflow drain on the side of my house was leaking. I called John Moore. The representative looked at everything and told me 1. I needed to get my ceiling cut out in my bathroom to get into the attic that way. 2. I needed to get my entire AC unit cleaned ($443). 3. I needed to get an inspection. 4. I needed a water medication team because I have a "a lot" of water damage. I knew this wasnt true because I had just had a 28 point inspection. The inspector from John Moore came through later that day. When I told him the issues I was having, he gave me an entire different solution BEFORE he looked at ANYTHING. All he did was walk through the door and diagnosed my problem from the door. He told me my main drain needed to he cleaned ($450, plus $70 for the inspection). I politely saw him out. I called a local, family owned plumbing company. They came the next day, unclogged my main drain, re-situated my pipe so the water would drain down. They also confirmed that I did not have any water damage. I dripping I was hearing has stopped, and so has the leak on the side of my house. I paid $75. Had I listened to John Moore reps, I would he out of over $1000, plus what ever the "water mediation team" would have charged. These folks may provide good service, but I believe, at least in my case, that they provide unnecessary services. I cant wrap my kind around how a man can come into a single womans home and actively move forward to deceive her and take money from her that she doesnt need to spend. It's disgusting.

Tonight I had the pleasure to meet the family who runs John Moore Services at a local restaurant! I knew I recognized you all, particularly the CEO of John Moore Services. A local commercial celebrity, if you will. What a stellar representative you all are for your brand. I’ve been lucky enough to watch the way you’ve snobbishly treated employees here for years, and tonight we finally got a chance to speak. As a fellow business owner, shame on you all for making a peer feel guilty for abiding by the city ordinance and masking policies for businesses. When I reminded you after your outburst that because you had to walk by our table you would indeed need to begrudgingly put on your mask, you called me a “scared, scared little person.” You’re right, Hannah (the COO, nonetheless). I am scared. I am scared of a virus that claims perfectly healthy individuals, I am scared of a virus that is over running our hospital systems in which I have the pleasure to work, and I am scared of people like you who cannot be inconvenienced for a mere thirty seconds by putting a piece of cloth over your face to protect your fellow citizens. Your fellow citizens, as your website claims, you care so deeply about. As a company that claims to have taken preventive measures in response to COVID-19 and enters people’s homes on a daily basis, I will be taking action to make sure that everyone in the community knows how the executive leadership truly feels. How can we be assured you are practicing what you claim? After your behavior this evening, I can only infer that your words on your website are meaningless and you do not truly care about the safety of the customers who patronize your business. So, Hannah, I am happy to be “what’s wrong with America” if it means standing up to walking, dangerous ignorance such as you and your family. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but disease nor death discriminate between you in your castle on the hill and us plebeians below. How fortunate you are to have not been affected by this virus yet. Also, guess what? You could forego your weekly margaritas if masking is that much of a problem for you. I am so pleased that your family assumed leadership over an established and respectable company, as I cannot imagine under your vitriolic ways this company would have otherwise prospered. I pray that you and your family can find empathy and understanding for the rest of the world in this hard time.

Honestly this has been by far the worst experience I have encountered. Me and my husband after reviewing a couple of companies decided to go with John Moore. They ran my credit told me they found me a financing company to which I had first informed them that I was looking for their 6 or 12 month no apr or payments and said they would email me the paper work a few weeks went by and I never received the paperwork. During those weeks I called to ask about the paperwork and still I never received them. The gentleman came to do the work still me having no paperwork and now almost a whole month later finally got the paper work to see that the finance company which they put me through is charging through the roof of interest. The gentleman of financing calls me now to tell me about me not signing the paperwork so I brought it up to him that that was not the financing I had expected to which he said that he told me and his solution was either me paying in full or if I did not want to pay he would just send me to collections. Honestly I am appalled at how rude and unprofessional he was. I have called to place a complaint and have yet to receive a call back. Never again doing business with them !!! & honestly I suggest you to not either. They are not worth all the money they charge just to get disgusting SERVICE!!!

Plumbing, Water Heater Service
$500
After my tankless waterheater went out, I called for service. The technician stated he could repair it and drain the line for $1100. I paid upfront and I guess this is where they thought my pockets were probably deeper. The next day the technician says he couldn't just repair it. Either he replaced the major components for $7000 or he could give me a brand new unit for $10,000. I told him that I would have my regular plumber come out and put in a standard waterheater. Here's where I lost it. The tech says that you can't put a standard waterheater in the attic because you need 46 inches. We were both standing up in the attic mind you. I AM 5'5 (60 inches) TALL! I told him to get the **** out my house, tally up the bill for draining the line and give me a refund. Guess how much they charge to drain the line? 500!!! Nope! Single mothers/women BEWARE because they will definitely try to take advantage of you.

Not good. NEVER DO BUSINESS with John Moore! My HVAC was installed 8 months ago. The summer A/C worked fine, but when I switched to ‘heat’ in the Fall, I had electric bills around $300, way too much for a small retirement home. Long story short/ the ‘tech’ arrived, examined both inside, outside units, reporting to me that the units are cheap, both had Freon leaks & would continue to fail. JOHN MOORE could, finance, and replace all units, the next morning for $13,000. I paid $6,000 for my units. A friend referred me to a ‘friend’, AC guy, he accessed my units, NO leaks, but a ‘component’ needs to be replaced $500-600. BOTTOM LINE: price gouging a ‘70’ year old ‘senior’ - My 52nd year of work, I currently work 2 p/t jobs - 40 hrs. A week. Such jerks. Oh, they wanted a good review.

John Moore deceived and overcharged me. I contacted John Moore to replace the galvanized pipes in my home. Rey Gutierrez, a John Moore Project Manager (PM) arrived and as we were discussing the cost, another fellow arrived. I assumed the fellow was also from John Moore, but I have since learned it was another company that I knew nothing about. They brought industrial sized equipment to my home and have tried to charge me as if I requested their services. I believed everything done to repair my home was part of my contract with John Moore. I will NEVER contact John Moore ever again and will tell all of my friends and family about their crooked practices. They should not be allowed to manipulate consumers and get away with it.

Had an A/C unit installed in 2014 and struggled to keep the motorized dampers working ever since. When the dampers don't open when they are supposed to, the air plenum over-pressurizes and comes apart at the seams, blowing cool air into my attic instead of the house. I have had service techs out multiple times since installation but they have only repaired the symptom and not the problem. Now, John Moore wants over $3000 to replace the faulty dampers since the "lifetime" warranty on material expired after 1-year. I would rate the service techs as top notch for customer service and promptness. But do not purchase anything if you are expecting John Moore to honor or warrant their work.

I was notified and updated on eta. Repairman (Willy) was friendly, took care not to make or leave a mess, and explained what needed to be done and how much it would cost before beginning the work. He fixed the drain quickly, and then made suggestions on other products available, but was not insistent when I declined. Overall, I'm pleased with the results.

The Technician was punctual in arrival w/ his assistant, and he may have taken longer in performing his duties; but, it was a worthwhile effort, for he took pride in his work by making sure the job was done efficiently/well. I appreciate all of the effort he expelled to make sure that the A/C Handler was installed properly, as well as operating properly. As of today, it still is running exceptionally. The Technician gave me firm, sound advice as to how to keep it maintained, as well, and I appreciate that, as well.

I had a technician come and provide an estimate on Memorial Day, for which I was grateful because it meant I didn't have to take time off work. Scheduling the appointment was easy and I received confirmation emails and a courtesy call the day of when the technician was on his way over. I wanted recessed lights installed, among other things, and wanted an explanation on what some of my options were. I'm completely unfamiliar with what a light instillation entails and therefore had a hard time understanding what the technician was describing. I required a bit more breaking things down, but the technician, while his words were polite and patient, lacked an ideal bedside manner. He wasn't rude, he just wasn't the warmest personality either. Based off this experience and even before I saw the written estimate, I knew I wouldn't hire this company. Surely this experience isn't reflective of the entire company, as I'm sure they have many, many technicians, but as a potential client, I didn't feel comfortable giving them my business. Also, this faux pas is probably just an unfortunate coincidence, but he did compliment our home and then went on to ask "How much did this set you back?" So in short, he asked us how much we paid for our home, which I feel one should never, ever do. That's private information and you're about to write me a quote, so please don't imply fishing around to see what we can and cannot afford. More likely than not, it was an innocent question, but I did not like it at all.

that fix went great BUT I quickly realized that John Moore will rape a fool blind if you're not paying attention. my first indication was that the appt setter tried to get me in to financing repeatedly. I figured it was something small so i told her repeatedly if i need it we'll talk. She also was trying to get into every system of my house with their services... i was all Hold UP... let's get this done before we start going down any other paths... the tech that came out was professional, wore booties in my house and was super polite. but he came out to sell me a new a/c based on the age rather than repair it. his first question is "what are we trying to do here?" AFTER noting that we'd been without a/c for 2-3 days... like the main problem wasn't getting this unit up and running and i would just say replace it. he did a great job trying to convince me the unit hadn't been serviced as evidenced by 'spiderwebs' in the electrical panel on the unit that sits in my back yard... the unit was serviced last spring... the unit is outside so duh there's spiderwebs. he took a picture with his tablet before web removal to show me but his tablet's protective screen was 'spiderwebbed' so i couldn't actually see the 3-5 spiderwebs on the equipment till he pulled that off - seemed weirdly deceptive but i'm sure they have some kind of excuse why the tablet's protective screen is so spiderwebbed that you can't actually see spiderwebs in the images... so i decided to watch him like a hawk. once he tested that capacitor (which was dead) he replaced that and my a/c fired right up despite the attitude that it's time to replace my 14 year old system and to some extent he's right but mostly not. the unit is fine but it's an r22 system so if i need work that requires freon after 01-01-20 it will need to be replaced. already made a note to have it serviced in December of this year so i have a little time. the price to replace this part was $299.00 - in the past I've paid about $125-150 for part replacement so it was kind of high but we'd been without air and our normal a/c person was out of pocket soooooo.... i bit that bullet and paid for that work. prior to him coming out i looked up the costs of replacing coils or compressor and from what i saw they shouldn't max out beyond 2k each. I mentioned this and he said oh it's much higher. like 10-12k which raised more red flags especially since i had already asked a couple of a/c peeps what that would cost and they were in the 6-7k range. After he left i did some more research to discover they're paid on commission and work very hard to get you into their new very expensive a/c units. I also see many complaints of people not actually needing new a/c's but being told they did and getting royally screwed by them. I will not be replacing my a/c with John Moore. I will be collecting bids and paying attention to the work just like i do with car mechanics. Please let me say, this technician was a champ. he did good work from what i can tell. he's probably a great sales person too. He just had the bad luck of dealing with someone like me who is used to telling sales people no and researching. John Moore's pricing sucks - you're paying for a lot more than your unit. Last night, I got the bid to replace and true to what he said, 10,499.00 for a 3 1/2 ton unit replacement. I've already asked around and the a/c peeps i spoke to said that's highway robbery. that it shouldn't be more than 7k. My advice: watch them while they do their work just like you would a mechanic working on your car. do your research! get multiple bids and learn about your home systems! and don't let the heat cause you to make bad decisions. signing that bid to replace at over 10k would have been a bad decision for me.
