The entire project was professionally handled from start to finish. Kenny reviewed the job, took copious notes and advised what it would take then and there. He and his crew showed up on schedule, as promised, and completed the job sooner than had been originally discussed. All members of the crew were courteous and knowledgeable, and worked together as a team. The jobsite was properly cleaned and any debris removed. the crew even repaired some plumbing issues that were clearly done improperly by a prior contractor. THAT IS WHAT I CALL SERVICE! I have used them before, would without a doubt use them again, and will not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who asked. Tankless is the way to go and the Hot Water Guys know how to do it right.

The installers were prompt and very knowledgeable. They originally had an electrical cord that was too short but the installer brought one to ensure we could use it the same day. They were extremely neat and organized. Most of all they were so polite and professional. We are very impressed with the customer service.

The repair itself was fine - it took all of ten minutes. Unfortunately, we had to wait FOUR hours beyond the 2-hour time frame I agreed to when I made the appointment. What makes this an issue - besides the six hours spent twiddling thumbs - is that the company itself didn't communicate any of the delays until 1pm. We called them several times. First she didn't know there was a delay, then she didn't know how long the delay would take. Then at 11 am, she said it would be about noon before he would finish the prior job. He showed up at about 1:15pm. After all that, we had the pleasure of paying the full service charge. The entire experience was very disappointing. They installed this water heater in 2005, did a checkup in 2009 and then today's appointment. The first two times were great. This time they just seemed really indifferent. *note - unable to list location where service performed. It was in Woodland Heights.

Edgar & Shawn, the install team, arrived promptly at the scheduled 9:30am. Their supervisor/company owner Tom came to walk them through the projected plan of install. Since this required installing a gas line to the water heater location (just today we decided upon putting it in the attic rather than the planned-upon garage), they measured and discussed amongst themselves the best method of doing so. They then explained this to me in plain English, giving pros and cons in a manner that assured me they had thoughtfully considered the project. They clearly know their business (Tankless Water Heaters) VERY well, and I understand why they are the best in Houston!
Throughout the install, they were exceedingly polite, taking great care to avoid damaging anything in my home as they worked. In a few instances, this required extra work on their part due to the house layout, but they cheerfully managed. They worked efficiently without taking breaks, and upon finishing, carefully walked me through the new water heater. I immediately noted their impressive attention to detail, as the install looked downright beautiful: clean, carefully done...just immaculate. I appreciated that they knew the product well, and were able to explain it thoroughly to me. The newest Navien is a beauty of a tankless, and I really enjoyed learning about how it would sense our water usage and adjust accordingly to save energy (and $$$). They then cleaned up thoroughly before leaving. They went above and beyond, moving another item for me before they left. I highly recommend their service and this product, and highly doubt I will need to make use of the warranty. They take great pride in their work and it shows! I just cannot say enough good about them. Kudos!!!

If you want a professional, first class job, look no further that the Hot Water Guys. I know...this is my third tankless installation by these hot water masters (plus one conventional tanked version). Consummate technical knowhow combined with courteous treatment and punctuality. I am completely remodeling a house in the Houston Heights. A five month project that incorporated every possible detail of rebuild, I was a stressed out puppy. Hot Water Guys worked directly with my lead contractor, and tied into the rehabbed plumbing and gas system seamlessly. Tom and Kenny, and their support man Sean, delivered when promised. The day the gas meter was hooked up, I called Kenny to advise. I was told to just turn on the hot water, wait 30 seconds, and it would run hot. If not, wait 30 seconds and try again so the gas could bleed into the system. Guess what....spot on!!

Nothing beats a company that lives up to its word, no hitches. You are making a mistake if you use anyone else.

From the start it was easy and professional.  The quote process was fast and easy, they explained my options, and offered extra solutions (like moving the water heater outside to remove the extra heat AND give me extra space in my utility room!). When the guys showed up for the install (right on time) they were courteous and friendly.  They put up with my noisy dogs, and even figured out how to increase my kitchen water pressure while they were there.  It took about as long as they said, they kept the floors covered and protected the entire time, and cleaned up well after.
I wish I could have the Hot Water Guys do all the repairs on my house!
And even though a few things changed during the install (to make the install more efficient, and easier for me to use in the future) there were no added costs.  The quote I got was the price I paid.
I'd recommend them to everyone!  (Too bad if you don't live in the Houston area)

The whole experience from start to finish was wonderful. Tom & Kenny came out to do the site visit and get details about the job. They were prompt and were able to come by the day after I initially called---much more quickly than I was expecting. They took pictures and wrote up an estimate that was well within my budget for the project. They came out on a Tuesday and said that they could have a crew out that week to do the work. I was not prepared for such promptness, so I initially scheduled it for the following Monday. Then, when I realized the next morning that I had a conflict, I called and was able to reschedule the installation easily.
I didn't catch their names, but the two men who then came out and did the install were both very professional. They walked me through exactly they would be doing before the work started. Drop cloths were used and care was taken to make as little mess as possible. The old tanks were pretty corroded, so there was some trouble getting them drained, but they managed. After the work, they fully explained the new unit and pointed out all the connections & drains for it. They even ran a new electrical outlet so that the new unit could plug in without having to run the cord across the floor to the existing outlet. It's just an attic, so it wouldn't have been a big deal to me to have to step over it. That extra thought for the job was a nice touch, though.
The job ended up taking just a little over four hours---less than the five and a half to six hour estimate that was given after the site visit. Over all, everything went smoothly, and I was very pleased with the results. It's a shame that they only do tankless water heater work, because I'd have them do all my plumbing repairs if I could!

Tom and Kenny came over to have a look at our place and gave a quote. I liked their no-nonsense approach and advice of going with a smaller 7.5 gpm system (bigger is not always better) unlike others who suggested bigger and expensive systems. We have been using our heater for nearly 3 months and have had no issues with hot water supply with their suggested configuration. Unlike others who quoted over the phone, we went with Hot Water Guys because they put in the effort to come to our house and also gave a competitive quote. They requested change of installation date a day before and I was OK with that. Edgar and his team came over and installed the new Rinnai system. They did the whole installation in about 4 hours; it went so well that we hardly felt there were people working up in our attic (these guys know their work). Edgar found a gas leak which they fixed for additional cost before doing the city inspection. City inspector said the job is perfect. Everything done professionally.

My replacement tankless water heater works just fine.
Installation was at night by a two man team who were here only once.
A promise of the internal control panel was not to be.
Venting is a vague situation as the previous heater was 'improperly vented.' So this one is equally improperly vented just in a different manner.
State energy reimbursement applied for but the funds had run out earlier in the year.
My impression: Everything cost $1,000.00 and takes two men to install and each job follows the next, easy peasy.

Response from Hot Water Guys

"A few comments on this review: 1. Hot Water Guys did not do the original installation. We installed his “replacement tankless water heater” which the customer noted is working just fine. 2. This install was actually performed on 12/27/2010 (not 2011). 3. In response to the customer’s statement that the install crew was there only once – it only takes one visit to install a tankless water heater. 4. The original unit may have been vented incorrectly however; the unit we installed is an exterior mounted unit and thus requires NO venting. 5. While we did make the customer aware of the Texas Rebate that was available we have no control over how/when the funds are doled out."

I would not hesitate for one second to refer these guys - they are absolutely outstanding!  From start to finish they came to my house (Tom & Kenny) and both walked my premise and took pictures, as well as went through everything to give me a fairly strong quote.
Upon completion of their initial walk through on 9/11 - Kenny sat down with me in my den and went through his quotation - he had a professional quotation that listed out all the services that they would be performing - for the price they were asking.  The nice thing I liked was that Kenny went through each item, talked about the length of time it would take them, as well as answering all of my questions in normal speak - I can tell when someone is dodging or trying to avoid answering certain things - he really made every effort to make me as knowledgeable about the product I was interested in - in a short period of time.  Explained to me about the different brands the sell and install, as well as about other options.  I felt he was very honest - that goes a long way with me.
I explained to him that we (me and my wife) had 2 other companies coming to give us a quotation for work.  This is the first time I have ever broke my rule about not getting 3 quotes.  Once Kenny & Tom pulled out of my driveway - I went to work and contacted some folks that I know who are very very familiar about the equipment, who sell the equipment and who also hold the same Elite status as they do.  I asked questions that I had asked of Kenny - these are people whom I trust implicitly unfortunately they don't live in Houston!  Everything I heard - was that these guys were spot on.  They were fair - held an elite status with a premier brand of tankless water heater (Rinnai) as well as providing honest answers, being extremely thorough and professional, and letting me know that since my hot water heaters were basically on the fritz that they would do what it took to get me scheduled in this week if I did decide on them.  That was all it took for me.  Done.  I called and talked to my wife - the boss said book these guys and that was it.
The day of installation was 9/12 (yesterday) - these guys were on time - prepared and extremely knowledgeable.  We just had brand new carpeting put in a few months ago and it's very expensive - I never had to ask once of these guys to put drop cloths down - it was done!  They made every effort and were as clean as humanly possible - i felt bad for the 2 guys installing yesterday because those water heaters were HEAVY - and again i was sitting in my office watching them bring them down stairs one by one with a dolly and they went slow to not beat the crap out of my steps.  They were very respectful of my home,
The installation I think was about 4-5 hours - they were actually done well before I thought they would be.  When it was time they walked me through what they had done, everything had been cleaned up and immaculate!  They were very professional and polite about answering all of my questions regarding if I ever had to fuss with it after they left, as well as going through all items I needed to know about operation of the unit - which isn't much actually - set it and be done with this thing!
In closing - I really value sites like these because it's a way for other people to relay good / bad information from their perspective and experiences.  If I can offer anyone who reads this some advice:
***If you're getting a new water heater, do yourself a favor get a tankless water heater
***If you're getting a tankless water heater, do yourself a favor - get something that is going to last and you'll get more than your money out of - get the premier brand on the market which is Rinnai
***If you're going to get someone to install a tankless - even though operation is simple, installation is not - get someone who beyond all knows what the helk they are doing - GET THE HOT WATER GUYS!!!   For me and my wife the choice was simple - we wanted an extremely good product, that was priced right, and beyond all - that was installed by people who are going to install it correctly the first time as opposed to having to jack around with problems out of the gate.
Hot water in the shower was taking about 3-4 minutes to get really hot - tonight me and my wife estimated it took less than 45 seconds!!!   AWESOME - plus she's extremely happy which is the most important part of this!!!
Thank you Hot Water Guys -
Regards,
Joe Zippler.

Hot Water Guys came out to the house and evaluated our current water heater and our usage needs. They gave us a quote to replace/repair the current hot water heater (tank) and they gave us information on a new tankless water heater. They addressed all of our questions and concerns and recommended a new tankless model that would best suit our needs. The install went smoothly and professionally. A month and a half after install we moved into the house and discovered we had no hot water. We called them and they sent a tech out within a few hours. The problem was in the unit itself and they were able to repair it that day. We really appreciated their quick service!

Great experience.  One of our current hot water heaters caused flooding to our home and we wanted to purchase a tankless system.  We shopped around and Hot Water Guys were great at answering our questions.  The installation was painless and done quickly.  The gentlemen installing were courteous (we have 3 v. curious young children) and professional.

The install team arrived on time. They wore shoe covers in the house so as not to dirty up the floor. The install went smoothly & when completed, they demo'd the water heater. Then - unbeknown to us - they closed the gas valve to the twh, & left. The next morning, there was - of course - no hot water. I called & left a message. When I didn't hear back from them later that day, I called again. The woman who answered the phone said she would have someone call me to see if they could help me out. A technician ended up coming over & discovered the gas valve to the water heater had been shut off. Problem appeared to be resolved. Within a few days, however, we began noticing several problems. First, whenever we flushed the toilet in the master bathroom, pipes would rattle as loud as a Harley Davidson. It was (& still is) so bad, we thought someone had a jackhammer on the roof. We also noticed that the water pressure in the kitchen faucet would plummet to a trickle immediately after turning it on, & wouldn't come back again unless we left it on for a few minutes. Worst of all, the hot water began to run out whenever we were using the shower. This was by far the least forgivable, since the main appeal of a twh is that you never run out of hot water. What's more, it would run out when nothing else that used hot water was on. I called, & the woman on the phone said she would have someone call me back. No one called me back. I called again & the woman who answered said that she "spoke with the technicians & they said that sometimes they don't get all the sediment out of the pipes - your pipes had a lot of sediment in them" & that was what may be causing the pressure drop in the kitchen faucet. As for the pipes rattling, she said I should just "figure out where the pipes are rattling & tie them together to reduce or eliminate the rattling." She said I could look it up on Google; that was what she did. As for the water running out, she asked me if I was sure it was running out. (?!?!) "Yes," I said, "I'm sure the hot water is running out whenever one of us takes a shower." I then pointed out that none of this was a problem before they installed the brand-new twh, & that I believed it was their responsibility to correct the issues. She argued that the rattling & the pressure drop had nothing to do with the twh, but that she would have someone call me concerning the hot water running out. When nobody called me back, I called again. This time she gave me the cell-phone number of the person who was supposed to call me back, & told me to call him. I did, & left a voice mail message. He called me back the next day & after I described the issues, he asked me to try running a faucet in the master bath on hot while taking a shower to see if it alleviated the problem. I did, & it worked. (Note: It turns out that twh's have a minimum flow rate threshold. If the rate of water flowing through a twh falls below this threshold, the twh shuts off.) He said he would come out & take a look. He made two separate visits. The first visit, he checked the problem & said I should try removing the flow inhibitors in the shower head & the kitchen sink. Why he didn't do it while he had them open is anybody's guess. I did, & the problem persisted. I called him back & he found other flow inhibitors in the shower head, which he removed. Once removed, we didn't run out of hot water during a shower, but the trade off is that we're using a lot more water than we used to. As for the pipes rattling, he said there's nothing he can do about it. As for the pressure drop in the kitchen sink, he said we would have to remove the filtration system we have installed on it. None of these things were a secret. The guys who came to do the estimate & make the recommendation of the type & size of twh to be installed had full access to the house. They should have checked for these things & informed us about the potential for problems post-install. We would never have paid $3,400 for a twh if we'd known about the problems before we bought it, especially when a normal water heater can be had for under $400. I've been round & round with Hot Water Guys about these issues, & asked repeatedly for them to at least help with correcting the problems. I think it's criminal that they don't take responsibility for the problems caused by the installation of their product, & worse that they suggest I fix it myself by looking up a solution on Google. FYI: I did Google the problems & got about half a dozen solutions to each of the problems. For instance, to fix the rattling pipes, several solutions involved breaking open a wall, sticking boards or rags between the pipes to stop the rattling, & then repairing the hole in the wall & repainting or re-papering it. None of the solutions were within my level of ability. Even if they were, this is something Hot Water Guys should've taken care of. I am tolerant of problems resulting from an install such as this. What makes me angry is when the company doing the install refuses to take responsibility for correcting the problem(s). I strongly discourage anyone from using Hot Water Guys, & for couples to think carefully about the minimum flow threshold before investing in a twh.

They were excellent. They completed the job in January. The founders of the company were very professional and friendly. I was impressed with how knowledgeable they were about alternative energy systems. The crew that did the installation was knowledgeable and also very neat. They cleaned up after themselves very well. The price was fair. I plan to use them to replace another water heater in a different part of the house.

We first obtained a free estimate. The crew arrived as scheduled and removed the old heaters and installed both tankless heaters in one day. They took time to lay protective cloth over all walking surfaces so as to avoid soiling the floors (particularly the carpeting). They installed stainless steel vents and made sure everything was to code (a final inspection by the city is required in Friendswood). We were very impressed with the professionalism and knowledge of the crew. During the estimate phase, they recommended not placing an electric unit in an apartment on the property pointing out that an electric unit capable of generating sufficient hot water would require an expensive upgrade to the electrical system. We love the tankless systems installed and we're very pleased with the Hot Water Guys. We recommend them very highly.

Two installers showed up right on time, protected our flooring, and got right to work. They were both very professional and courteous, did an excellent job and finished a little earlier than expected. We're very happy with the installation and the quality of the Rheem RTG-74PVN water heater so far. Price was exactly as quoted. Main reason for purchase was fear of tank breakage since our study is right below where the tank was, but we also went up one model higher than they said we needed because the price wasn't much higher and the kid's bath alone would max out the cheaper model. The only things we had higher expectations for are: they charge an extra 2% if you use a credit card, we had hoped it would take less space than the tank but we weren't able to reclaim the space, they didn't paint the venting, and we have one faucet that doesn't always seem to have enough flow to kick in the heater.

The Hot Water Guys showed up in the morning. Drained the water from my old water heater. It was very rusty. They carried it outside and took it away. They put new vent lines in and mounted the new tankless machine. My old water heater was in a closet in the hallway. The new tankless water heater is mounted on the back wall of the closet. I now have room for lots of stuff in that closet. I can take as long a shower as I want to without running out of hot water. I had no problems and the guys were great.
